I love the idea of having "wind in our sails" - this idea of asking ourselves what keeps us meditating: our own vision + understanding what is possible when we begin to work with our minds! Love how Tim shares this with us.

Just thought I'd share a couple of "tricks" that I use to assist my meditation . Half of me is rather reluctant to do this , just in case the ideas are completely crazy 🤪 😜 ..... I'd rather just keep my mouth shut than spread a load of confusion ! But I've decided to do it , so for better or worse .... here goes ! If its all nonsense , feel free to delete it ! First trick is just very practical . I use a kitchen timer to time my meditation .... and it's actually had quite a profound effect on my meditation . I usually med in chunks of one hour . Most of the time , around the 40 minute mark , I think ... "OK , times probably up" ... and I look at the clock ..... "Nope . Twenty more minutes to go ." And for the next twenty minutes I'm meditating on the flipping clock . I'm thinking about it ALL THE TIME and frequency peeking at it to see how long I've got to go ..... all diligence in the meditation has gone ! Using the kitchen timer means that I don't have to think about the clock AT ALL . So, for each hour of meditation , I actually get an extra twenty minutes that is diligent , and that feels good , and worthwhile . Next trick is ..... keeping a meditation notebook . I only write stuff in it when I feel it might help me . Looking at my notebook now , I see I wrote a heading ..... "Meditations from Hell" ..... " Why are some sessions SO uncomfortable that I want to throw in the towel and quit ? " . And then , having identified a question , I begin to answer it .... not so much verbally , but by trying to SEE clearly the mental process by which I manage to turn my meditation session into a nightmare (a special talent of mine !!!) . And having answered the question and understood how I was inflicting suffering on myself , I'm back to happy meditations again ..... can't be bad . Anyway , hope these tips will help someone along the road a little bit . But ,if you think this is all complete nonsense , feel free to delete ...... no offence will be taken .

Hi Tim, Really needed that. I’m currently on JOL Level 2 (end of part2) and I’ve been feeling great and with great results then, these past two weeks, I seem to have hit a wall. This helped, greatly. Thank you.

Fantastic video! I’ve never heard or read about meditation in this way! “What brings you to the mat”, “when we take a shower, we don’t question are we doing it right etc” Ty I tend to be a “perfectionist” n trying to drop the label. It’s all or nothing thinking. So I appreciate your insight. ❤ Question: how do I get myself motivated? It’s like I just get overwhelmed n sit; n take no action. I try to do “one thing” that’ll make me happy… my intuition is telling me I need to learn patience, as I am recovering from something. I just have difficulty “being” n not “doing” Ty ❤
