Really really great video and movie analysis! 8:33 seriously some part of this idea is what I have had for some period of time but you explained it the best! 8:40 Yeah I saw the movie and it looked like Megamind's relationship with Roxanne was pretty messy In the end, front to back Megamind 2 is super trash, but I have some idea or hope that this can inspire some people to make a Megamind sequel themselves, mainly since the quality of some indie animation series from RU-vid have been really great! A great example is how there's a fanmade short film for Shadow the Hedgehog (from the channel João Filipe Santiago) and Sonic 3 hasn't even released yet!
I like how you explained how you test if a movie is good by skipping forward to see if it is worth watching the previous content. I did this my fair share of times as well. I normally do 30 mins.
I honestly just wanted someone to talk about this movie so I wouldn't have to watch it to know how disappointed to be. As far as I'm concerned this movies does not exist
This show’s writing doesn’t feel like it was meant for 10 to 12 year olds. It feels like it was made for 2-4 year olds. Even my 3 year old sister would hate this trash.
Megamind doom syndicate is NOT a dreamworks movie. it's a made-for-tv ordered extended pilot for megamind rules. it wasn't animated by dreamworks. they outsourced all of the animation to an overseas company in India and that's where all of the animation was completed. the overall budget for this project was extremely low, plus the fact this is TV and not feature animation we are talking about, which are two entirely different things with different production pipelines, is why the animation looks the way that is does. It is NOT an official dreamworks sequel. This movie pilot and the show are basically the equivalent of how to train your dragon: the nine realms (another insult to its respective franchise i want to forget exists). the reason this blew up was the god-awful marketing and last minute promotion that sold the IDEA that this was actually going to be the high budget feature megamind sequel we all wanted. I do agree that the story and writing is horrible though, which comes as such a damn shame given the fact that, and this will be extremely hard to believe, the SAME two writers that wrote the entire first megamind movie, Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, wrote doom syndicate and all of megamind rules. WHAT THE FUCK. I wonder if they were just forced onto the project, but honestly, the level of tonal whiplash is so so bizarre. They wrote an amazing movie and now we have... this? I digress, good review, I would love to see your concept for an actual sequel realized!
I hope to god dreamworks is not going bad. Dreamworks had such a good time in 2022. What happened?! I guess the glory is gone for now. Please came back soon!
