Just in time for Halloween, Sotheby’s is proud to offer an extremely rare poster for Karl Freund’s 1932 The Mummy, which is poised to reclaim its title as the world’s most expensive film poster. Join lead guitarist of Metallica and horror film expert Kirk Hammett in an illustration of what makes horror movies so important and how The Mummy film poster helped define the genre as we know it today. The Mummy poster is now available in a special single lot online auction. (October 11-31)

Damn, I love Kirk man... what a genuine sweet guy, who's honest, and passionate about what he loves.. If you watched this video, and didn't know who he was it would blow peoples minds that he's been shredding guitar like an absolute badass for Metallica over the decades, absolutely no ego either. What a gem, he must be protected at all costs lol. As someone who's a diehard, horror/comicbook nerd, and a Metallica nerd his entire life, I can relate to this man so much lol. Rock on Kirk.🤘🏼

6:46, the movie poster for London After Midnight-- Kirk Hammett purchased it for $478,000 in 2014. (It is the only one still known to exist.)

Mega rock star, mega rock band, 10's of millions of dollars.... always been humble and authentic. He holds an incredibly important role in Metallica and always has. A huge reason why Metallica is great. Great guy.

He reminds me of my 10yo who is a little odd. He loves speed metal (Metallica is his favorite band), movie memorabilia and classic horror. His passions are beyond his years which can make it hard to connect with kids his age. I appreciate that quirky personality in everyone because they are the ones who make life interesting.

I like James who is big influencer but Kirk Hammett is also my favorite as well with his solo. I actually love his own thing he loves the most which is Horror movie stuff and so do I. Tbh, I started watching scary movies when I was a kid I used to watch it so much I get scared but not anymore til my teen years I got over it. So yeah it's so cool how Kirk loves these classics so much and I do too I enjoyed like new ones too and other cool horror movies even some cheesey ones too. I wish I have one of Kirk's signature guitar especially that White Zombie guitar or that Karloff The Mommy as well or that Frankenstein poster guitar he plays.

Every old poster is made by lithography, actually the best way to posters and for real classy artists , but computers printers and all digitals destroy art of our world.... thats the truth no matter what a lot of u will say because real artists do it by real way to can touch it to can feel it to cant erase it with PS tool and after that undo and ctrl+c or v that is.... Sad but true , today peoples dont buy art they prefere to download it from google and this is very sad

Some of the posters are very expensive. Originals can go for up to a quarter million dollars. Not a cheap hobby . But Kirk can afford it.

Only one poster was up for auction, and it failed to sell as it no one bid enough. Kirk has been collecting these for decades....selling one isn't such a big deal. You expect him to keep each one forever?
