@@airtiger4577 shut up, in my head it is. I will forever live on copium if it means they hug at the end of they game and link from ocarina of time either gets to stay with navi or navi actually decides to be a good friend and say good y to link and they hug as well
She was a very memorable character for me and each time I hear mindas lament I always get a hit of nostalgia, her full form design is also epic I hope we see more of her in the future
A little interesting thing about Midna's Lament. The news channel KUSI once ran a segment on the Juno Probe and it's journey to the planet Jupiter to study the planet and it's composition, and the segment had Midna's Lament playing in the background. Obviously, due to copyright reasons, they pulled the segment. It occasionally pops up here on RU-vid from time to time. I managed to download it before it was pulled, so now I can watch it whenever I want. My guess is the person who put together the segment either was a Zelda fan and snuck it in or was looking for some melancholy music to go along with the segment and stumbled across it. Either way, it's a nice, albeit random, little piece of Zelda history.
"Midna blew Zant up like a balloon." Story time. My brother was watching me play Twilight Princess. This was the first time anyone in our family had gotten this far on the story, and neither of us had seen any spoilers. While I'm running from disembodied hands in the Twilight realm, my brother starts talking about an idea. "What if we could name the bad guys? Then you could name em something funny." He says. "Oh really?" I respond. "So what would you name Zant?" And without skipping a beat he says, "I don't know, something silly, like Balloon." We laughed a moment, and proceeded to call Zant "Balloon" all the way through his fight. As the cutscene for Zant's death plays, there's a moment of pure, perfect silence. We look at each other. And we positively die laughing.
she has an actual personality, has a sense of agency within the story, has actual character growth, is our access to fast travel, has the best song in the game, is super s...... I mean has a good design in both forms Look I love Tatl, Fi and most companions but yeah there's no comparison
@@airtiger4577 I'm sorry chief but that title belongs to the superior character Ganondorf. I mean just _look_ at his drip in Hyrule Warriors. Meanwhile Fairy Boy over here gets out-dripped by the likes of his essentially genderbent self who has the map awareness of a tumbleweed named "Leon Pokemon"
@@lilchristuten7568 twilight princess is so cool because there's link, there's midna, and even the resistance who tries to do something for hyrule, is the first game where people try to do something, and not just link
One thing that I love about Midna is that she just uses Link to save her world but soon as Link and Zelda sacrifice themselves she notices she wants to save both worlds. I just beat the game for the first time in 5 years so I know a lot more now.
Midna somehow manages to be the adorable Tsundere and the Ara ara Mommy waifu at the exact same time. Jokes aside, she is absolutely one of my faverate companions from the series and I really hope we see more of her and the Twili in the future.
She's also loyal to Link when Zant tries to manipulate her in the moment when she becomes helpless to the light world, and trying to get Link up turned away from Zant at default. She had to be very courageous to do that.
I paused almost immediately, just so I can say the number 1 reason is that SHE THICC. Close second being her sadistic yet also caring tendencies which definitely awakened some submissive/masochistic feelings in me when I first played the game.
Also, Midna's lament is one of the most emotional songs, and nerve recking quests. I panicked, seeing her so weak, while the sad music played in the background
And then some random enemy appears and ruins the moment, they NEED to make Midna’s lament override battle music in a potential twilight princess HD switch port.
Agree with everything except that last one. "Full form Midna" looks like she'd be turning tricks at a street corner. Real Midna is a cute, chubby imp. Now that I think about it, she's basically a chibi, which is weird because usually chibi is an art style, and the characters being represented don't actually have those body proportions. But Midna actually does. Also, fun fact: Did you know Midna is wearing clothes? I mean, Ruto didn't wear clothes in OoT (but her counterpart Lulu in MM does), so it wouldn't be that unusual. But yeah, Midna actually has pale skin, and that black stuff is some kind of weird clothing, like some kind of designer brand swimsuit. Notice how it covers all the parts you'd expect, and you can even see a collar around her neck in this video. I just thought that was interesting, because my first assumption was that it was just some strange color pattern on her skin. It's not hard to imagine the little terror streaking across Hyrule, but it seems she has some dignity after all.
Hopefully she makes a comeback someday. Fi still exists in the master sword and could potentially re manifest despite what she said in Skyward sword. And I doubt the Twighlight realm us truly cut off.
I'd imagine it'd require either Hylia or the Triforce to reawaken her fully tho, since she was pretty much 'programmed' to sleep in the sword for eternity after Link drove the sword into the stone at the end of Skyward Sword.
In my headcanon she left and separated the worlds because she loved Link, but they could never be together that way. That's why she surprised Zelda and Link at the last minute to have as much happy time as possible when Link thought he was basically just dropping her off at the train station
She's got this sassy personality and tone of voice, and yeah at first she is a user, but as she starts warming up to Link, she becomes much more likeable, and they really went all out on her facial expressions and her voice. Man, I'm thinking I need to replay this game sometime and Midna is a large reason why I'd want to do that. Hopefully the Wii still works, it's been awhile since I've used it.
@@traviscunningham7062 I wound up grabbing Dolphin instead of playing around with the Wii. I've always heard the gamecube version was better anyhow, though other than it being flipped left-right and confusing me and making me disoriented, I really don't get what is so awesome about the GC version. Granted, SOME things are easier with a controller, but anything involving aiming like a bow or hookshot is definitely slower with a controller.
if you like Midna because her full form is "mommy", you're a half Midna fan, because we all know that true Midna enjoyers absolutely prefer her imp form UwU
If you are tall like me, all woman are so called “shortstacks”, I tower over my girlfriend despite being the same age, sooo… yeah Midna is cute in both forms.
Even though you play as Link, I'd argue Midna is actually the main character of the game. Link's quest to find the kids is finished up fairly quickly. The rest of the story is Midna's story.
the voice actor for link in twilight princess had a hard time voicing him because he wasn't used to not actually talking and he had to communicate with breathing and odd sounds. So the game is actually about the voice actor's quest to voice link to have the game released on time lol.
I had been kinda disappointed when final-form Midna appeared on my first playthrough. I adored, and still adore, squishy Midna, and wanted her to stay that way. I was also a teenage girl at the time, and was therefore thoroughly envious of any woman that had a better body than me 😅
Midna is still one of the best Zelda characters ever. All these years later I'm still hoping she could star in her own videogame, you could switch between all three of her forms, explore the Twilight Realm fully and completely, etc. Nintendo, do something about this already.
When you are tall like me, every woman is a shortstack. I tower an entire foot over my girlfriend despite being the same age, and she has similar… qualities to Midna. So of course I naturally think Midna is cute lmao
You call Zelda mommy and she would scoff and say "Mommy?", but you call Midna mommy and she would give a sly smirk and call you her good boy (or girl) while holding your chin so she can tilt your head to look at her face. Really gives the "my my" and "ara ara" vibes in her true form. But then the bratty vibes as an imp.
There is also the part that she has genuine chemistry with Link, which was a huge first. Both platonically and as a potential romantic situation. She easily became of the the most popular zelda characters of all time in moments and Nintendo is still stubborn over the idea of bringing her back.
You are definitely correct. She is very snarky, and I think it adds a lot of personality to her character. I also love how she goes from looking like she shops at Hot Topic, to shopping at Victoria's Secret! 😉
@@HyruleGamer I mean I just never thought about it til now, also it's nice to "meet" you. Big fan. I have a theory that gohma comes from termina and that Hestu and manbo are the same people.
The fact that she died at the end and come back thanks to the light spirit was also cool A roller coaster for my little heart but it was a good way to involve the player in mid a story I think
She is the best because of three reasons 1) she is from my favorite Zelda game 2) yea she actually developed as a character, to the point where you could say her personality changes from the start of the game to the end 3) Rule 34 (Obligatory if you don't know what it is don't Google it, and if you do google it be careful of what you use with this knowledge)
I just realized that when she wears the shield over her face, it's a nod to the fact that the Shadow Beasts, who have shields for faces, are actually her people turned into monsters.
Everything about this is perfectly accurate. Also… Midna’s Lament. Literally one of the best songs in any Zelda game ever. I haven’t even finished the game, but I’ve heard the song and damn. 😔
She has a personality, actually helps you aside from telling you shit you already knew, has a good backstory, and you feel a bond with her that you don’t feel with the other companions Except maybe Zelda, linebeck, and Sidon
#1, she isn't just some sidekick but an integral part of the story with personal goals and motivation while be such a genuine character and one of the few that regrets the outcome to some degree due to permanent separation from those she cares about, Link and Zelda.
One thing that's maybe a bit overlooked about midna is that she has the power to lift an entire chunk of a gigantic stone bridge into the air. Could've maybe used that power on some other occasions, but oh well.
