If I'm not mistaken, the movie wasn't supposed to be the finale, Hillenburg knew that Nick would never let the show end. It's just his headcannon finale because he would leave the showrunner's job and most writers would stop working after that, and I respect that. It's also my headcannon finale.

they are not close to being anywhere near as bad as the sequel. Spongebob is a chaotic and nearly unwatchable post-movie. Spongebob may not have been the best season, but There were still some funny moments, and the amination was good

Modern SpongeBob would be better if it was renamed. Because it's a totally different show that can be enjoyable for different reasons, why keeping the name of a show that has died so many years ago?
