In highschool band we referred to 3/4 time as waltz time . Got used to playing different and switching time while in marching band . But the group concept , new and actually makes perfect sense.

Waltz time or group concept, it's all about embracing different rhythms and staying versatile. Kudos to your musical journey!

Very good point about listening to drums in 3/4 time

I'm so accustomed to 7/8, that it feels more natural to me than 3/4. 😁 "Turn it on again" has always been easier for me to count as 6/4 + 7/4. Listen to the snare.

Firstly may I wish you James,Sian and all other E bass guitar community a great Xmas and happy new year, and thanks to you both for posting this informative video. Well turn it on again is enlightenment after my numerous comments about fast fingers! . Sian is doing the synth riff with just one finger and not appearing to try and land on the string below. Years ago I used to try to do that but I couldn't sustain the tempo. I have seen others contemplating that technique recently too.

The only bassists that would struggle with those music signatures are those musicians that ONLY LISTEN to music in 4/4 and NOTHING else. However if you listen to music of Western Asia (Middle East) and jazz, you will not struggle with this at all.

The 7/4 is a good tip for Money but might not be as helpful for other bass riffs

The key is to use timing techniques that best suit the specific song or bassline you're playing. Keep experimenting and adapting to enhance your groove!

I don't think anyone should be referred to sucking. Just like it wouldn't be nice to say, I didn't know that Shrek had a RU-vid bass lesson channel.

We weren’t referring to anyone specifically Kenneth with this headline / title. The viewer can make up their own mind if it’s relevant to them or not. If it is hopefully it gives a lightbulb moment to move forward. You’re welcome to call me Shrek or comment on my eye brows. It’s really doesn’t bother me the slightest! Merry Christmas :-)

Sorry I had to stop watching when she doesn't know the difference between 3/4 and 6/8 time. It was clearly 3/4. f

Cool. Please feel free to stop watching if you don’t agree ;-) This lessons was researched and we clearly state it’s ¾ but some people feel in 6/8. I personally feel this in 6/8 because of the back beat of the drums… but that can change from musician to musician. Everyone is welcome to their view. James
