Lack of business domain expertise, lack of feasibility study, bid to win, think that if you are a master in C++ you can build any app, turns out that a subjective requirement may kill your app. Also not considering the great amounts of time spent on writing documentation, manuals, among other non-coding activities needed in projects. Normally technicians make poor business people.

When I got burned as a software developer, it always happened for the same reason: I did not pick the right project customer. If you do not have a system or methodology for doing that consistently well, then you are a sitting duck for any bottom feeder looking to take advantage of you. Hard experience talks and the OTHER STUFF walks.....

how can you build systems, methodology for projects like custom web design, website edits, etc? Since most of the web development projects differ from each other how can you be doing it consistently well? Would love your thoughts on this!

@@syedhaad3342 I compartmentalize the design process. I bill in 10 to 20 hour increments and must receive payment for these small time blocks before any more additional labor is performed. It let's me stay in control of what I am doing from start to finish. I never let a large block of unfilled time accumulate unless it is someone I have known for a very long time, otherwise I would be courting BIG TROUBLE!!!!!

That reminds me of a business man who asked me to develp a cruise control (Hardware and Firmware) for him for $300 LOL

@@ComputerGuy63 Be aware that at times even those whom you know very well may take the work and never show up again. In business, never trust anyone. It could be that your competitor have paid your friend 10X time more to get your work for half the price...!

If you specialise in one area (say in App that identify your location anywhere around the World) and become "Master" in that specific area "High Quality" then you can keep the design as a "Template" then copy it and past it into another designs "Another Clients" and promise for "Price" so now you will be selling High Quality product for Low Price < this can Sky Rocket your business. Or else, you may turn into a slave for your client.

Incorrect. Your nomenclature, at least. In software time is associated with quality. Namely, high quality software is always delivered faster. There is no question about this and no exception. But it will cost you more. High performance engineers are not exactly piling up of vacancies nowadays. If I'd revisit this iron triangle: - Quality - Scope - Money It makes a lot more sense in software.

McDonald's puts their focus on both time and price with a sacrifice on quality.
@AleksanderVitkin
@AleksanderVitkin 2 года назад
Welllll, it’s actually quite expensive to go to mcdonald’s since it’s heated factory components being mass prepared in the kitchen and not real restaurant food. The margin is huge, the gross profit margin is around 50%. Restaurants that are efficient tend to operate at 20% profit margin not 80%.
@masterroshi9001
@masterroshi9001 2 года назад
@@AleksanderVitkin I am curious where you heard that? As far as I know the margins on their sandwiches are very low usually around 5% or less, most of their profit comes from their fries and drinks which have insanely high margins something like 80%. Oh well, no reason to debate about it, your video is great and I got the point you are making, sorry for getting off topic.
