"When we arrived on Kashyyyk, things were just as bad as we'd feared. The droids had us outgunned, outmaneuvered, and outmanned by a five-to-one margin. What none of us had counted on was the Wookiees. We'd all heard the stories, of course, but we'd never fought next to them, never seen them rip apart a droid with their bare hands. They were magnificent. Even so it was still a suicide mission, at least it was until Master Yoda arrived. Then it became a battle; a winnable battle." "With the timely arrival of Master Yoda, the 501st were able to hold the line against the Seps on Kashyyyk. We left as heroes. Years later, we'd return as conquerors."
@@geetslys yeah, imagine you're a rebel an you're about to be shot by a stormtrooper then a wookie picks him up and absolutely Slam dunks him in the ground
I was thinking, "That's a lot of Troops for the Republic to send," until I realized they weren't there to stop they invasion. They were there to kill Yoda.
I really wished they recanonised the Republic commando novels and kal skirata,I feel that if they made those books into a TV live action attack of the clone style recreation it would be gold
*It would be awesome to see Tamara Morrison back at it with the clones, seeing hundreds of his face in clone armor. I know that their stuff similar to that but like a live-action TV show of the Clone's or a Republic Commando live action tv series.*
One time I was haggling in a market that sold rugs. It was one of the most fun bartering battles of my life, the negotiations went back and forth. Eventually I got the giant carpet but paid more than I probably should have. That’s how the battle of Kashyyyk went.
If I remember correctly, at the panel where he revealed that he would be finishing the Clone Wars, Dave Filoni showed a bit of concept art from some abandoned plot lines including a Separarist Tank Piloted by Trandoshans and decorated with wookie pelts.
That thumbnail gave me big full metal jacket vibes xD "How can you shoot jedi and padawans?" "Its easy!...you just gotta get a lead on em HAHAHA!...if they move they are Jedi if they don't move they are well trained Jedi"
The Clone Wars has to be one of the most fleshed out conflicts in all of fiction. It’s not like most sci-fi and fantasy where it seems the whole war is wherever the main characters are. It’s spread across almost everywhere and every front has its significance and impact on the bigger picture.
This just suddenly made the Battle of Umbara become a lot more important for the Separatists! If the Separatists won the Battle of Umbara, Kashyyyk might be pressured into the secession. If that happened, most of the worlds in the Mid RIm will join the Confederacy without hesitation since they took Kashyyyk's lead in politics. And for some reason, I would love this scenario more. As long as the Zyggarians are not dragged into the picture, of course.
Well, we do have got a few materials: Clone wars shows us the intial invasion, republic commandos show us the preparations for the arrival of the republic and the movie shows us the fonal battle and aftermath. But its so much more cool to think that the wookies held both the lizards and clankas back on their own for a while before being pushed bahk
I dig the Reference in the Thumbnail. Clone 1: How can you shoot sentinent Sepis and Wookies? Door Gunner Clone: Easy. You just don't lead 'em so much. Ain't war hell?
It seems to have depended upon the individual, but more the latter than the former. Generally they would see other clones from the same template as siblings as in any other family.
I do remember the battle of kashyyyk since my favorite unit is the 41st elite corps ranger platoon, which fought on kashyyyk and were under command of yoda.
6:03 and 9:15 In Tales of The Jedi and The Bad Batch seasons 2-3, Draa Nemec and Fireball helped Luminara Unduli and Quinlan Vos escape from Kashyyyk when the Republic became the Empire
I would have personally ordered one of the AT-APs to fire at the platform yoda was on and afterwards make sure hes dead. This would likely also kill chewbacca which would possibly help the empire win on endor since he wouldnt commandeer that AT-ST.
Good information! Gree was one of my favorites bc of his tactics of using the locals to help fight with the clones and his signature attitude of being an amateur anthropologist. Kind of made him the clone equivalent of a Green Beret in a way.
6:03 Draa, Nemec and Fireball fought in the Battle Of Kashyyyk, alongside Luminara Unduli, Yoda, and Quinlan Vos with the 41st Elite Rangers In Tales of The Jedi(w. RoTS), and The Bad Batch all seasons 2-3
Something I love about General Grievous is how he makes terrible decisions but they are never out of character. He is Caveman Robocop and he kills people. Was it a good idea to kill them? Sometimes, sometimes not. But Grievous has never killed somebody and left me thinking "That's so dumb, why would he do that?" It's just "That's so dumb, but that how the Grievous do."
I have been waiting for this one. I was wondering when you would cover this battle just like you did for the battle of coruscant and the battle of utapau. One of my favorite battles of the clone wars and the battle of coruscant being one of them as well. Plus the Wookiees are one of my favorite races in Star Wars.
My philosophy as a SW: all canons should be explored. Expanded universe and Film canon included. Younglings: what about the Disney canon? Me: no, that deserves to be force pushed into and buried under a Mountain on Alderran.
Do you think since the Czerka Corporation had such a presence on their planet in the old republic that they knew of these secret hyperspace routes? Or was it kept secret?
They might have known some, but there were always new ones being discovered over time, as rich merchants would be willing to pay for exploration to save time on shipping.
In the classic SWBF2 I remember that the defence of the Kachiro's beach was one of the most difficult mission in the game, especialy with elite difficulty. '' The droids outnumbered us 5 to 1 " also our commander " Old the beach for 3 minutes straight, no retreat, no excuses "
Ever since playing Battlefront 2 as a kid Ive wanted to know more about the Battle of Felucia, would be cool to see that covered in a video similar to this. Honestly any of the Outer Rim Sieges would be interesting
bit off topic but i was watching one of your videos about geonosis and i wondered about the clone army. they were created in secret but what about all the venator star destroyers and ground vehicles. there were millions of total vehicles the gar used. when and where were they all built
I would personally like to see more videos on the history of individual planets. Like each video would cover a different planet, like the history of tatooine, history of yavin 4, history of mandalore, going over the entire backstory of each world and significant events that took place there.
So this is pretty much becoming a regular series with these battle videos. It might not be the Battle Map Breakdowns, but this is still awesome. I look forward to what the next battle will be. :)
The cover image looks like that door gunner from Full Metal Jacket LOL He looks like he's saying, * any Wookie that runs is a separatist, any Wookiee that stands still is a well-disciplined separatist. GET SOME!
Another detail is there was a council meeting right before the Anikans promotion were they discuss the Sith Lord and they sent Yoda because they fought that by taking the wisest and most powerful Jedi away from their home the Sith would reveal himself but it didn’t work that’s the same reason obi wan left
I read that orginally the king of Kashyyyk was sympathatic to the Sepratist cause, but when the Sepratists then invaded his home planet he was like: "Okay, now I'm defienetly not joining you." I missed the part about them killing his son, though.
I played BF2 05 and even Lego starwars the complete saga so I know the main reasons and by far it’s my favourite battle separate from the battle for Mygeeto
I know they will make a sequel to the game but it makes me mad it’s taken this long for them to realize just how great clone commando game was. Seriously it’s been way overdue
I know they aren’t the main focus of this vid but I really hope we get more trandosian stuff in specific more bossk i would love more aliens as main characters and bossk going on a hunt of unique star wars species could be interesting especially if we got an insight into the hole that top bounty hunters like boba and more recently bane have left.
they should make a Star Wars game where they just talk about the captains like rex and fox. it’ll be nice to see there perspective of the big battles and do missions until after the order 66. they could add dlcs of the bad patch and the downfall of the mandalorians
You should do some sort of legends timeline about the clone wars!? Like battle by battle. If there is a lot of lore then maybe could do like a video like this or if there isn’t that much could cover a couple battles. Great video though 👌
