I didn’t watch one of Khabib’s fights because of his wrestling. He just practiced what everyone else was only touching on. Wrestling is a big deal now because of him.
Exactly And so very underrated for people that know about its beautiful and rich culture. As well as (Max Muay Thai) which is much of a faster pace, without the long clinch battles. Even K1 Kickboxing at the highest level Is amazing to watch Very technical and beautiful And of course brutal Without the cultural like Muay Thai, But it's still excellent as a sport. Better than slap wars for fu
It is based in deep tradition. The ritual, the music, the attitude, the honor. It's like a holy sacrament to the god of war and has value to Nak Muay beyond the sporting aspect or financial gain. Hence why so many Thai fighters refuse to transition to MMA, despite having a tremendous base to build on and the possibility of making many times more money per fight, because Muay Thai is about more than just sports and money for those fighters. @@manithierry-mieg3704
@@manithierry-mieg3704why don’t you think you see any Thai Muay Thai fighters transition to mma? Because Muay Thai is their culture and if they were to transition to mma it would be like dishonoring the culture
It’s because he Doesn’t have to pay power slap fighters big bucks because they’re not putting their entire bodies on the line so ppl can’t criticize him while still being to generate the most amount of revenue out of these slappers
@@Evilevilmonkeyybro have you seen the fucking damage people take from slap fights? It’s brain damage central and isn’t even fun to watch. They may not be risking injuries to the body but I’m pretty sure they get more damage to the head
@@oliverselley64 did I say they don’t? I said they’re not entire bodies on the line so it makes it seem like it’s not that brutal and that’s a good way to pay those guys less also because it’s not as popular and doesn’t require many resources, coaches, training etc
@@wmd13194 Hell yea. I tried hardening my shins once. First there was the pain from kicking into something and then the real pain came when I had to flatten out those bruises with a roller. Fucking hell!
I took boxing and while it was really beneficial, boxing is so unrealistic. A lot of things you do in boxing would get you destroyed if you were just able to throw a knee.
And Buakaw, seanchai and bring back Mike Tyson lol. Watch them run thru UFC legends like candy bars.Break BBJ legs so they will love cripple rolling like the Gracies. Can't kimura me I have no legs or joints.
@@feilox you do know even Seanchai expressed he doesn't want to do mma because he acknowledges he cant fight with the ground game. most mma fighters train MT and alot of mma fighters come from a MT background. Mighty Mouse put Rodtang to sleep too. upright stances in muay thai are the easiest to takedown so you rarely see mma fighters use a MT stance.
Very easy question to answer. It's called marketing. If the UFC started doing Muay Thai events then it would blow up and become extremely famous and popular
@@angelareele858 What you've seen it live once or twice ? Sorry but it doesn't sound like you know what you're talking about. Go watch Max Muay Thai or just go back watch Muay Thai at a high level. Then you tell everyone its messy. $h¡¡¡t !!! 😂😂😂
Muay Thai is at it's peak now, everything takes time. It used to be Kung Fu, then Boxing, then Karate, then TKD, then Kickboxing, then MMA, etc. every generation has their own chosen combat sport, it's actually a lovely sight.
@@FishCOD97 You get taught some judo in wrestling. Just without the gi. I train submission wrestling, mma and Muay Thai. We use judo all the time. Clinch into double leg, single leg, Uchi mata. Tai otoshi is more risky against knees.
Its the opposite brother. Start muay thai when they're young so they can callous thir limbs. The older you are when starting muay thai the more likely you are to break a bone
I am a boxer but who said muaythai isn’t popular 😅 every MMA fighter trained muaythai, but viewers are low because muaythai is raising in past 5 years it takes time to reach almost every sport
The people need to see some Buakaw, Saenchai, or Tawanchai just to name a few. I don't know anything about muay thai but the limited amount I've watched is just amazing. Shout out to Joseph Vincent.
Haven’t watched a muai thai fight in years but like 3 days ago I decided to watch the one live stream and the matchups were AMAZING and when I say Amazing I mean amazing. Just 24/7 action packed no boring fights and especially Batman and black panther were killing it!!! I suggest everyone to rewatch that stream
That sport in itself is pure suicide, Having time to revive a fighter after being flatlined so he can fight again. its Just an ultimate CTE speedrun@@A_Train.
People don't understand that a muay thai fight can be surprisingly boring. it's not mma but only the striking, clinch work is a big part of Muay Thai and can last a lot. Also like two of the clips shown are not muay thai, but kickboxing
@@lao-grotten1101but in Muay Thai I think they are far more active in the clinch. It's an offensive exchange in Muay Thai, but in MMA it's too often used for stalling.
True. One might think that it's because 95% striking, it's this wild frenzy where punches and kicks are flying non-stop and there's blood everywhere and people are getting brutally KOd left and right. But Muay Thai is not about that. A lot of good Muay Thai fights are very measured, tactical matches that very often end up in close decisions and they require knowledge of the art to be able to appreciate.
main reason people like it when mma fighters choose to stand up and fight is because the have the choice to grapple but choose to pick the cooler option rather than being forced to fight that way like a kickboxer
In my opinion (which doesn't matter), the weight classes would be the issue. Huge fighters would break the fighting style. It obviously has uses, but the wars are about inflicting pain and brain damage to the smaller bodies. There is a reason they can do 500+ fights in a career and not die. A lot of painful impacts, but not a ton of real damage. If there is anything i have learned from watching NASCAR as a kid, it's that people want to see the wrecks the most. Smaller fighters simply don't provide that danger level to most people. People loved Mike Tyson because he looked like he'd kill his opponent, and promotors probably had their 🤞 that it might happen.....just sayin.
@@mags6946kickboxing is more for heavy weights there's a reason they don't have heavy weight classes fir Muay Thai in One Championship. The biggest weight class for Muay Thai is Welterweight.
I wish the UFC would do what One FC is doing with all the different types of matches and the mixed rules fights, all that stuff is fucking awesome to watch
It's not big because they have no trashtalkers who make the people wanna watch it. Boxing needed Ali, Tyson, Prince Naseem, etc. MMA needed Chael, Tito, Mcgregor, Izzy, etc.
@@dee33_3 Yeah and I love that, but without a storline it's not interesting enough for casuals. But still happy to see ONE pay their Thai fighters good money and give them a big platform.
Certainly one of the reasons. And I like that. I want Muay Thai to stay a real martial art. Toughness, discipline, skill, respect. No clownery and bullshit.
@@Touma134 It is fun when you understand what is happening at every stage. It's a game of human chess. One wrong move and you get checked. I know most people don't really know what is happening, but that doesn't mean they are right to boo. It's common and crass and shows ignorance.
@@tehf00nlol I know what’s going on, I’m the type of dude who’s listened too/watched hundreds of hours of fighting content, breakdowns by experts ect and I still find it boring if it goes on too long. I like that it’s a possibility because it keeps the fights more realistic but it doesn’t mean it’s always fun to watch. Hell some fighters themselves find it boring to watch.
Simple answer, it's too easy to hurt and get hurt. It feels terrible to hurt somebody undeserving. I elbowed a guy in the eye socket and he wore an eyepatch for 3 weeks. Muay Thai experts have elbows like knives.
Doesn’t this go for all combat sports? It’s easy to get hurt and hurt others. That’s what you sign up for, if you don’t want to fight don’t fight. Also Muay Thai is dangerous but Thais have longer careers than boxers, and mma fighters.
Bullshit. Muay Thai fighters fight nearly every weekend from when they are 14. MMA fighters usually end up retiring after 30 fights, Thai fighters usually have hundreds of fights by time they are 24.
@@santiagobermudez6497grappling is essentially damage-free (except for accidents, but accidents happen in all sports so its pointless including them), you just make them submit, you are not trying to permanently injure them
@@santiagobermudez6497muai thai fighters have longer careers because they are fighting pretty much until their body wont let them. its more of a culture thing than anything else.

It’s literally peak striking… everyone complains about how boring grappling is but when you watch some of the Muay Thai fights it’s brutal and always entertaining
Muay Thai is the bestt. I love watching the Wai Kru and the music they play in the background. Something about it feels really spiritual, Not just messing someone up. It like a reflection of their appreciation and respect / dedication towards the sport and the training process
I agree watching guys like Rodtang is a site to behold a true master of his craft. The display of skill at a Muaythai fight is second to none as far as I’m concerned.
I’ve been saying this since 2007 when I first tried Muay Thai. Definitely the best training I’ve ever had, and every day of it was a horrible struggle. Hats off to the people with the determination to keep that torture up.
Very easily explained with a single word, which is the same reason for HUGE talent and superb skill not being number 1 in every aspect, MARKETING. Slapboxing probably generates more views than muay thai does right now. Think about that.
Watched it live in an arena in Koh Phangan Thailand it was a fantastic experience. Would highly recommended attending an event to anyone visiting Thailand.
It's quite simple , boxing is the base fight for most people who doesn't known any martial arts, they punch and they take punchs, it's relatable, also it ahs tradition ,boxing is a staple of combat sport since 100 or 200 years. In the other hand, MMA is the closest to a reak fight, body vs body, almost everything is allowed, no style limitations; "Which martial art is the strongest?" , well ,here you might found and answer. Ans yeah, Muay Thay and Kickbixing are great sports, and are funny if you like fight, but for what reason a random person would want to see a MT combate instead of one Boxing or MMA combat?
