I had no idea Nagaland was suffering so much due to low monsoon. I just had a stereotype that those states are just lucky that they dont have to worry about rains... Thank you for the video. That was some solid reporting. Prayers for Nagaland state.
Insightful coverage. Saddening, nonetheless. Thanks for producing. I would like to contact the author of this piece. Could you share the contact information?
Of interest is PBS Terra’s recent video reporting how historical flood risk assessment methods are now inadequate. The video discusses risk in the US but the change to risk is global. Every nation needs updated extreme weather (flood) risk maps.
I like the content of DTE. But what I will suggest is pair this content with some actions that can be taken. These videos almost sound like we are doomed and game is about to end. Instead of that there could be some action plan that locals or governments can take to counter the effect of global warming
There are a lot of actions that can be taken but since there is a lot of uncertainity in the consequences of climate change, it needs a lot combined effort from the government, community and various sections of the society. All that needs will power and most importantly the right political mindset. All the environmental and social issues including climate change need radical political effort. However, in India we can't even begin to think like that because currently the country is very quickly heading to a fascist decline. Instead of focusing on progressive policies we are hell bent on breaking down our social fabric due to the evil nexus between the Hindutva fascists and capitalist class that is also destroying the capacity of the indigenous communities to adapt to changing climate. So if there is one thing that you can do to fight climate change is to think of it as a political fight as well against capitalism and fascism.
This is the real survival issue of the coming decade. Not politics, communalism or development. Food and water shortages will have to be addressed in a national policy as well as state level policies. Our big flats, new cars and latest planes are not going to feed us. If we don't make water management the number one national priority, we will see very harsh times. It is difficult for people to understand this because they cannot see an enemy, just like it was with coronavirus. Extensive mass education is needed. I think the govt should renew efforts in NREGA for rainwater harvesting. Just like every MP is important in the election, every district/constituency must have a water plan.
