that's not his point. in the end you all had to grind. you shouldnt be able to buy your characters overall. Walking into the park day one there shouldn't be 89 overalls.
My favorite Live 10 with Dwight Howard on the cover. But since then Live have left a hole in my Heart. So I'm all about 2K now. But I do agree Live needs to improve to push 2K from being the lazy candy ass game it had been for last 10 years or so. But I Pre-Order 2K every year. I agree the MyCareer mode needs to improve. I enjoy the game play not the lame cut schemes.
Why do people still praise myPark ? It has an old matchmaking system that honestly makes it far too tedious to start games. In addition we've had the same few parks for years
What they need is matchmaking for the park like live that waiting like real life as ran it's course and waste too many people times and live load screen barely exist which is another thing 2k need to take from them
I don't care. I'm a Live/2K fanboy. I was first a live fanboy but every year I'd always buy 2K cause I loved having fun with both of them. But all of a sudden that changed. I was bummed when Live stopped making video games cause even tho the last one they made at the time (NBA Live 10) was bad I still loved. That was the year I permanently switched to 2K. When Live started making all those recent ones which haven't been good I still bought them and loved playing them. Maybe it was nostalgia, or not haven't a different basketball game to play but idk, I loved it. I was bummed when they said they weren't making a video game in 2017 cause I still loved the franchise. Now they release this demo, and all I can say is I love it. It has me so excited to play 2 great basketball video games.Go Live and 2K! Been fans since 99.
Gridiron app: amino.app.link/Gridiron I played Live 18's demo for a few days before making a video about it to eliminate any overreactions I may have had. Here is why I think the game is going to be worth buying, just not as good as 2k. What do you think? Like, comment, and sub if you enjoyed! *Hit the bell next to my name if you want notifications on my vids!* Business email: Theweightliftingcentral@Gmail.com Patreon: patreon.com/dom2k16 Facebook: facebook.com/dom2k16 Twitter: twitter.com/dom_2k Instagram: instagram.com/dom_2k Snapchat: Dom_2k
What do you think about when playing the story they show the show First Take with Stephen A and Max talking about your character? I think it's great and I feel more invested in your guy rather than 2k with their MyCareer mode like you said where it gets stale after the first season.
MrKimonster12 its just on live you really have to have a knowledge on how to play basketball. The game has some cons about but every game created does . fuck it .
Danthony Mitchell I agree. as long as the game is enjoyable, it's alright in my book. I enjoyed it so far. I'm just hoping this game can give 2k some competition at least, so they can fix some of the garbage in 2k.
Y'all seem to be the only rational humans. Ppl get mad because it makes you think and use skill for basketball. That's funny but then ppl say love is not a basketball game.
I'm getting both this year. I see the right strides in Live and am hoping they do well enough to not have to scrap the series. Wanna see competition again because NBA live 10 brought out the best 2k/basketball game of all time.
There's nothing wrong with this game really, this demo only shows play now & my career. Ppl forget how lit ultimate team is for EA & what if they have draft champions?! You all are just not use to nba live, so stuck on 2k. 2k is an okay game it's not amazing, the gameplay is not perfect you guys need to realize that, very money hungry & their archetype system is FLAWED.
SuccessfulMentality You need to realise the only reason Ultimate Team is lit because they neglect manager and player mode. A lot of FIFA Fans use 2K as a reference in their wish lists
when you pass to a teammate in career mode on live 18 demo you have to shoot with them. like you legit control the teammates who have the ball and their shooting, that's why they're not shooting on their own.
Positive for live + If you reach they can teach +Graphics + Somewhat balanced archetypes •Shot meter is ehh Negatives for live -Slow even with gamespeed up -Harder to do combinations dribbles -Force field around out of bounds -Everyone has a 7foot jump at the base of there jumpshot -Shouldn't be that easy to pole ball lose but balanced for play good Defense not every possession Overall worse thing everyone will be 95 within 3 days Rate the game 6/10
Kinda hard to juge a game off the demo look at 2k 17 prelude (not a demo But you get the point) We taught 2k was gonna be amazing but it ended up bring trash so hard to juge live.
First of all 2k isn't trash and if you can whole heartily say this your lying to yourself. 1st. Someone that thinks a game is trash won't still be playing it (not saying you are cause idk but other people have said the same thing and continue to play) 2. The only real problem is the Archetype (and The cutscenes), that's where all the problems stem from. And we're also fed up with the lack of effort 2k puts in. 2k didn't give us a bad game people bash it and a lot of people follow it scared to give there real opinion. Now could they do better YES but did the under perform, NO NOT BY ANY MEANS. Look the same thing happens every year. 1st month of game being out: I think this could potentially be the best in he series 6th month: This game is by far the worst. I remember this same thing happening with Call of duty and battlefield. 2k is call of duty and live is battlefield. Obviously Battlefield IS REALLY GOOD but just go with what I'm saying. It just won't ever match up with its superior at least not for a while
2k17 was pretty good out the gate... then the patches kinda killed the game almost immediately... the archetype system was half baked... the double team logic was awful... people seem to have forgotten that for the first month of the game they couldn't even update the rosters... they had to patch that in... they took out some already good features and replaced them with even worse features... the substitution menu was pure fuckery... the scoreboard was glitched... they promised us that the canned animations would be gone but nah that was a fucking lie... that whole "skills matter" bs they spit to us was a lie and they even deleted the tweets that alluded to that... 2k17 was pretty trash in my opinion... it started out pretty good and you could feel the difference in the gameplay and how smooth it was compared to 2k16... then slowly but surely it kinda regressed to 2k16 with limitless range cheese and horrible body types... I was playing 2k16 and man it's kinda embarrassing how much they regressed with a lot of the body types for the plays... Guys like the Greek Freek, Rudy Gobert, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry and Gordon Hayward were embarrassingly awful looking eye sores in 2k17... 2k looks promising this year but I'm not being suckered into preordering again or even buying at launch... I'll wait for reviews and gameplay to drop before I buy it
2k pisses me off with its reliance on VC. It makes the game hard to play and hard to enjoy because you aren't earning anything really. You need it to advance in mycareer. At least in Lives The One you actually are earning things. And you feel satisfied when you do earn things. In 2k it's buy VC or bust. Right now I'm thinking of buying Live for The One and buy 2k for MyTeam since that mode is enjoyable even though they're still shoving the packs in your face because you know it'd be faster to advance if you just buy the VC and get them😒
Chandler Gilgenbach Then you should know live is a good game its more realistic and you cant just cheese and iso/ballhog for a whole game its a actually a team game which is how basketball is played in real life
I'm buying Live 18 for sure man I'm going to give it a chance because I remember when NBA Live was the shit. I played the demo and it was dope as hell. The One mode will be solid man and the face scan thing is pretty cool, if you do it right it'll look just like you.
I swear to god y'all be lying your asses off in these comments lmaooo everyone that says live is better is obviously someone that's trash at 2k and has to let the computer play defense lmao I gave live 18 a chance and was hoping that it would be good and that shit is garbage y'all gotta stop lying to yourself just cause you're not good at 2k...(and this is coming from someone that has every online trophy in 2k and I still hate that game. The 2k cheese is ridiculous)
The Shapeshifter no people play off ball because they really can't play defense. I've never had a problem playing defense on 2k because I know how to play it. I mean yeah there's the cheese that happens here and there but a real 2k player plays defense
i find the movements and speed are better than 2K. that durant's block to love was so natural in my eye. but I might agree with a.i. about player's decision making etc.. i would be happy see your opinions after final release and some time spend on the game...
Exactly what I've been saying that Live is improving from 16 when the game wasn't worth buying and now its actually worth it but it's still not on 2ks level
Y'all love 2k too much. All that's gone happen is this Buys game and gets on park. Random: Gets ball. FLACKUPCLACKUPCLACKUPFLACKUFLACKUP Stephback 3. Gameplay is 90% wiggling the sticks 5% thinking. Other 5% is jacking 3s.
Just have to say this is one of the best NBA live 18 videos I have seen! Most of the people I have watched were only doing first impression (or something flat out stupid) and were giving no comparisons or were just being fan boys. I love 2k but this NBA Live 18 looks quite good. Good job!
Definitely a step in the right direction and I will rent it on the weekends from Redbox just to play things like the Drew league and WNBA teams but not buying won't play it enough with 2k and Madden being out
do you guys remember that game NBA Ballers back in the early to mid 2000s? that's kind of how I want a mycareer mode to be modelled after, that shit was dope lol. i be playing in KG's mansion, Kobe's villa in Italy or some shit, that was lit. I see how the mycareer mode is modelled towards a AAU feel, go to college make buddies, make it big into the NBA, trend in social media, get endorsements lmao. Back then it was street ball that made basketball more appealing. just my take lol.
Exactly the same here. NBA 2K18 is my first basketball game and I bought it because a friend plays it, too. Now after watching all the reviews, I might get Live 18 later, but not immediately. Getting the hang of the 2K controls is hard enough.
Sammy 12 thats debateable,, me personally i liked the archetypes the xp system everything better then 2k17 but the gameplay. It looked fine but felt sloppy and lazy. They had no offensive weapons defense was too easy and every shot that went up was contested making it feel like that every score was either luck or who spent more time on thier shot,, and im not a 2k fan i hated 2k17 and really wanted live to be competition
DJPFreshKing yes . The game is clunky. Inside shots are super overpowered. That's only the beginning but the only thing I can say is it's not as bad as their past games.
David Avila i think Live is about 2 years behind.....i think Live20 is gonna be better or rite there on the same level as 2k20........but i do hope EA doesn't make a NBA Live 19 and give us a roster update and spend an extra year making Live20
If Live just made NBA street with all the modes you would put on regular NBA games but with the game play of NBA street I would buy that any day over 2k
Royal Reaper Live 18 has shitty battlefield 1 battlepacks which involve micro transactions? I'd rather have basic clothing available to get from the start like in 2k, rather than have to unlock it.
nba live is different than 2k. it's better. it's realistic. 2k is the same moves, same boring stuff reused. live is much better because animations are much more realistic

I already have to change 2k to live anyway. After playing the demo I really loved the game, all the throwing in the streets is very good. And after seeing 2k giving a 78 overall for my boy drose, for me it was the end of 2k, in my opinion. I'm going to buy live and I know I'm going to play, because to improve your attributes you really need to play, and practice instead of giving extra money to that.
What does live have that 2k doesn’t? 2k has worked on basically everything the fans wanted. Hairstyles, AI, Body Types, shooting, dribbling, player models, and more. 2k may have its problems, but the number of problems in live outnumber 2k.
I feel like 90% of criticism coming to Live is focused on how the game looks. To me, I think how the game looks is secondary so I'm pretty hype about Live
I played the NBA live demo I agree with you 2k, the characters where a bit slow but it was fun better then what nba2k has released recently. My story was really fun and the addition of first take in the game was very nice as well. Its actually worth buying and I haven't said that in almost 10+ years.
the blocks in NBA live are like pre contrived animations. so as long as you get the timing right for the block one out of a hand full of animations will happen. like the two hand block animation thats in thelive 18 trailer. that block happened enough where you notice that the offensive player is performing the same lay up to get blocked the same way every time it happens
I completely agree with you, Dom. I'm always saying how I wish Live & 2k would just pair up & make one great basketball game because Live, like you said, has the better gear & they also have a better face scanning mechanism when it comes to your personal face scan. As far as actual NBA players, it does need more polishing. 2k on the other hand, has much better gameplay movement & seems more realistic. Things are more fluid.
I agree..I feel that it's at least worth $40 due to the improvements and that sometimes you gotta put the controller down when you play, 2k or it's going through your TV
i think NBA live is a good step in the right direction i just hope that they can eventually get on the same level as NBA 2k so the people who make 2k can actually take more time to fix the damn game. dope video btw man
So Dom, I'm tryna find out the name of this intro beat my man!. I feel live is worth the buy. The added features, the only thing they may need is a better gameplay engine. As soon as that happens 2K better watch out
Agreed I had fun playing the demo I like the defense a little. But I least it feels like I don't have to worry about someone spamming dribble just to get an ankle breaker. Even though I had a counter for the playmaking I had the fact that as a lock down point guard I could not shoot well enough to save my life. Smh
I've played through the demo and it's decent. I agree about the AI issues similar to 2k, and I've also been kicked from games randomly online. Definitely have this for when I'm tired of 2k
i liked the demo, but the game just felt stiff when i tried doing dribble moves or shooting, but i'll wait for nba 2k18 prelude to drop so i can compare and see what i will buy
Thats the part i most enjoy about live the defense block mechanics. in 2k17 defensive players were jokes even with hof badges. Hof posterize and the right dunk animation could always dunk on hof rim protector. also the fact that you can have secondary attributes instead of being one dimensional as hell was so refreshing.
I think deep down we all know 2k is going to remain better for some time. We are just putting ourself in this illusion that we actually think Live can compete and that's all because we are frustrated with the current state of 2k. With 2k14 we weren't worried about live 14 at all because we were content with the state with 2k.
I just hope by the time LIVE is polished, we can start to say 2K AND LIVE are great basketball games, and that lots of people buy both of the games. We can't have 1 dominate basketball Game, and it's clear why. No competition= Laziness and money grubbing. So it would be great if 2 franchises improve their game year by year, and have competition where people will start to say "You know what, I'll get both of them because their that good." Plus people shouldn't have a war in the comment sections about who's game is more trash or better. Do you really just want one basketball game that has absolutely no competition and can make your wallets disappear before the game even comes out, and don't even try to improve on their game? No, nobody should be spending this amount of money on a basketball game.
They need to add the frost bite engine to maximize it potential, I like the game but the player models are off, the the game play at times doesn't flow right, the one thing I like is the fun factor it giving off some 2k has been missing since 2k14(my favorite 2k), overall 6/10 but I feel like this is a push in the right direction but they need to add the the frost bite engine, work on player models, also the jump shot mechanics, and the defense at times doesn't feel right since it's(may I put it) to easy at times (on ball ) just cutting people off, also fix the post scoring, then the a.i (something i hate 2k for too),but the shot contest and contest on layup are trash, if they work on these thing live will give 2k a run for their money next year or in two
Something I don't think anyone has talked about is that EA can put a draft champions mode into nba live which would definitely increase the replay value, and offer a lot more for people who play my team. This is something no one talks about, and could potentially be a deciding factor in which one I would want to play more often. Same old 2K, or fun and different play styles of NBA Live. Not saying that 2K will be trash and Live will be better, but just another option to draw in more customers.
One problem I had was that whenever I was driving to the basketball my player would be bouncing off people that were smaller than me. In the Seattle pro-am I was getting pushed around way to much by isaiah thomas and my player was a 6-8 200 lbs shooting guard.
In live you should set the game speed to 100. default is 70 and it feels like the game is running in slow motion. When it's set to 100 it feels smoother and much more natural.
I tore my acl and meniscus last year during the first game of my senior year (hs). lol I might just get live because of my personal attachment to the story
