Still wish the video could be shown with a link. That would actually work, it's not like. You can copy and paste a link on a smartphone. Now I'll pull the text that's involved with it.
This episode could also explain why Timmy tends to only makes selfish wishes for himself. Whenever he tries to be selfless it backfires and makes things much worse.
Regardless if there was any lesson it was over shadowed by the fact they said “you in fact have no reason to exist” and it’s could make sad kids depressed like geez no one deserves that universal f u you were expecting some sympathy nah fam we don’t care for you
A lot of kids shows just have mistreated characters and even as a kid it made me so mad, I liked the shows but I hated that the characters always seems to be the butt of jokes.
I remember this episode. I remember the message was that you don’t do the right thing to be appreciated, you do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do
Meanwhile everyone was mad at him bc it was essentially Opposite Day where all his good deeds somehow ended up being making things go wrong for those around him (like his parents who got mad bc he made the lawn look beautiful, and they got into a “worst lawn competition” without ever telling him) And the world actively said to the kid wishing he wasn’t alive “everyone’s lives would be much better if you didn’t exist” That’s one of Jorgan’s lines from the show, but the message was “if you feel unappreciated and that the world would be better off without you, you’re probably right”
I agree but man almost everyone in this episode is treating timmy like crap,Also his parents neglecting him just because they want a daughter is horrible
I remember seeing this episode as a kid and little me was thinking “huh, maybe my parents’ life would be nice like that if I wasn’t born”. Nickelodeon really created an existential crisis for 8 year old me for no reason
And then they criticised him. Like no wonder he only makes wishes for himself. I think his parent really wanted a daughter so they were neglectful towards their son
I always hated the lesson of this episode. The problem wasn't that Timmy didn't got praise, is that he got ATTACKED by his peers for his good actions. If the episode started differently, with the characters being indiferent to Timmy and him getting angry over it, then it would make sense
I remember seeing this, it’s messed up because it’s just every kids nightmare. No one wants to know they’re actually a burden on others and no one wants to be one
This episode really helped explain why Timmy doesn't just do things for others. At the end of the day, he knows that he is unwanted, and his efforts mean nothing to anyone but himself. It was oddly eye opening for me as a kid. I started to understand that sometimes, you're not gonna matter to other people, and you gotta look out for yourself. Still, sending the message that they're better off without Timmy was a bad call, and I remember that didn't sit well with me at all. I'm glad the first half was what stuck with me more than the second half after Timmy makes the wish.
I always had such a tight feeling with this episode, BEFORE and AFTER the wish. I think the episode should still be aired. Because a TV show can connect with a younger generation so much more than what some people think
I didn’t even know this episode was considered banned tbh. I remember watching it as a kid, the more I go older tho the more I realize how bad Timmy’s life was and how much he needed the fairies
It's also funny to me how at the end of Channel Chasers, Timmy's excuse for keeping Vicky in his life is because without her, he wouldn't have Cosmo and Wanda, but mean... She's not the only horrible person in his life?
@@JoshtheOverlander Vicky definitely seems like the main problem in his life tho. His parents are barely around wanting to do stuff with him so they are blind to see the treatment Vicky gives him, in a way Vicky is “taking care” of Timmy, she’s probably more in her life than his parents. So I can see what he said that
It can be a very relatable feeling, especially when you're a kid and can't really do anything about the poor treatment. I imagine an episode basically being like "yeah nah everyone would be happy without you" didn't sit too well lmao
What ticks me off the most about this episode is that Timmy just kept getting crapped on this entire episode including by his parents and his supposed friend after spending hours of work and presumably hundreds of dolors of his own money. That’s why he got so mad it wasn’t that he wanted recognition. Is that everyone treated him like garbage.
I remember watching this episode as a kid and I felt like crying at the end. seeing Timmy's wish be granted and that it resulted in a better world for those around him genuinely hurt
And other series do this but this just felt hurtful because it's a child who actually tried to make everyone's lives better and be useful only to find out you're just a burden and wasted effort, the world would be better without you. Why?
@@TubeSurfer898 yeah, you should know better then anyone 😢 but im sure you’ll get over that mentality. Even people as horrible as you can change for the better.❤
I remember that episode. Jorgen explained that Timmy should not do Good Deeds to get praised, he should do good deeds because it's the right thing to do. Also Jorgen did say that when Timmy didn't wish himself back to existence with his wand, thinking about others instead of himself, gave it back and accepting his fate is a good deed of thinking of others than himself which earn Timmy a wish to wish he never said his wish which got a scare from Jorgen who said he was joking.
That's still kind of a shitty moral of the story as well as an aweful way to give such a lesson. A good deed is a good deed, wether it was made out of selfish desire or not. No action is truly selfless, and simply wanting praise, especially at his age, isn't horrible and selfish, it's arguably quite an understandable thing to want, especially from someone like Timmy who is abused and neglected at just about every turn. Is he a little shit? Yeah, he's a kid. Does he fuck up? Yeah, he's a kid given access to godlike powers, nobody that you with that little understanding of the world should have access to that kind of power. Hell, arguably nobody ever should have access to that kind of power at all. Does that mean he deserves all the shit he has to put up with? I'd say the reason he is a little shit is *because* he's constantly shat on, so I'd argue no. And if the worst thing he does for that day is doing good deeds in hopes of recieving praise, I say give the kid praise. Do it right and it will make him want to do more good deeds. And from there you can also teach him that good deeds are something one should just do in general, with or without praise, because they are good deeds. Reinforcing a behaviour and developing it from there is always more effective than punishing a behaviour when it's not perfect. I remember this show having both hits and misses, but it missed fucking hard with this episode.
Not just the episode, but the whole show. When you look over everything, how neglectful/abusive his parents and babysitter are. Mr crocker gives students all F's for no reason. He even wished to be 10 yo for eternity because when he ages his fairies will disappear. Without his fairies, he has nothing to lose anymore. The fairies being there have the sole purpose of helping him get through this horrible treatment and existential crisis. The shower is a lot darker than people think. It represents what it's like to be neglected, abused, and set for failure since early childhood. Even feeling suicidal. It all flies over your head, especially as a child watching cartoons. His suffering is portrayed as a silly fun and games thing.
Timmy had to prove to Jorgen that him being gone had to at least affect 1 person in a bad way. It then dawned on him that Vicky wasn't around and she terrorizes Tootie pretty much 24/7 now. Without Timmy, Vicky is always home.
I remember crying to my mom when I first watched this episode as a kid, and she told me that she'd always want me no matter what. Turns out that was a lie and she only cares if I'm beneficial to her, not if I'm getting my own life in order, and I've been torn trying to find a place to stay since last year. This episode told me the truth about my situation early on .
@rollin60z Not perfect, but actually significantly better! I have a job, and my dad is actually divorcing my abusive mother! I know it's kinda wack to be glad that my parents are divorcing but she did so much damage to me and my little brother, it's a breath of fresh air to know that this hell will be over after all
Man this episode was so messed up. Timmy was getting berated that his good deeds weren’t good enough and wishing to see a life where he was never born and seeing that everyone is doing so much better without him just confirms that no matter what he does he we’ll never be good enough. DAMN that was such a dark episode and it really hurts
Damn never saw this episode but same feeling tho even after *childhood* nothing can make me or them happy unless I didn't screw life up for them lol told me they never planned or didn't want me oof if I'd been fostered at least I could get somewhere to live for cheap
And then you remember that Timmy is a 30 year old man who wished to never grow up, and has literally forced the universe to comply via Cosmo. It is one thing for a child to go through this, but another for an adult who is living a fantasy at everyone else's expense. Still extremely psychologically torturing, but he's already playing god.
Saw this episode, and holy shit it made me feel bad for Timmy even back then. Timmy just wanted to do good deeds for everyone, but when they hate on him, he just gets another punch in the gut realizing his life made everyone else’s worse. And it’s not like he even asked to be born, it was just something that happened. This was just a super mean spirited episode.
His parents are so sexist! They think boys are worthless and can't do much, and that girls are only good for is apparently having talents that make them rich! I bet they didn't even love their "daughter" unconditionally!
It's understandable to do an episode like that when it has a good outline or a lesson to learn from it, but there is none of that, it just said Timmy is straight up useless lol... Which is kind of a bad message to give kids imo.
I remember when this episode came out. Shit was rough to watch. I had depression for the bulk of my childhood years, and just seeing Dimsdale without Timmy in it really fueled my thoughts of self termination. Thankfully, I finished the episode one time, and found comfort in Timmy's complacency. He saw what was the best thing ever, where everyone had happier lives without him in it. Everything was perfect, and he just wasn't there. But Timmy still chose to go back to existing. Not because he wanted to see everyone suffer, but because his happiness matters too. Timmy put himself first, and while he sacrificed everyone else's happiness, it still was ok. Timmy finding comfort in the ok surprisingly helped me keep going, and I like to think it did the same for other kids too
Wait a minute. I thought this would end in classic cartoon fashion where the world starts going to sh-t because Timmy never existed and he realizes his lesson. How did that not happen?
I actually remembered this episode airing when I was younger. It also got me in to thinking what would life be without me.. and of course, that wouldn't be healthy for a child to think of
Jorgan von strangle is my favorite cartoon character ever. He is the shining example of doing what's right in written form only. He has more power than any other character and if he ever decided to be evil there would be nothing to be done about it. The power hour where Calamitous took over his body is amazing because it reminds you that for all of Crocker's schemes to get a fairy, the only thing anyone needs to be powerful is Jorgan himself. At the end of the power hour a bomb explodes in retroville and he shrinks it in the palm of his hand because he can. Thank god he is lawful.
This episode would explain why Timmy's parents are neglectful toward him, they wanted a daughter and a golden child. Which is awful, if you are going to be a terrible parent just because you didn't had a child up to your expectations, then don't have one. Just imagine the implications if Timmy had a disability.
Timmy should have called child services and take him to a better home which I mean not demsdall densdall is horrible people treat timmy like trash he gets abused
@@jmarieegypt4498 but dont u get it? Timmy has fairly oddparents because his life is terrible, the fairies serves to be a good thing in a sad child's life, being happy would provide Cosmo and Wanda to another kid that deserves them more.
Honestly watching this show taught me that being selfish isn’t always bad, since no matter what you do, someone is always gonna find a reason on why your a failure or why your useless. Sometimes you just gotta keep living your life and don’t let them get to you, you know?
This literally brought back core memories. I remember watching this episode as a kid and was like "this is why you don't do things for people, they almost never appreciate what you do for them." Dang, now that I think about it a lot of the shows I liked as a kid are kinda fucked up😂

I liked this episode because it taught me that people actually just care from themselves in everywhere and there's actually someone that "x" person would be happy if didn't existed, people will always think more on themselves than others so there's no need to break yourself for a person that would not break for you
Glad that this Timmy is good natured. If not, this could be a villain backstory where "if the world is better than me, then it shouldn't exist" and go into genocidal rampage.
He is just an average kid. He is generally neither good hearted or wicked. Probably it is just a change of pace to be good that episode, Considering his shenanigans.
It teaches you a lesson, though, doesn't matter how hard you try. You are never going to be enough. Might as well make my existence everyone's problem. As my Game Master said: Don't be part of the problem, be the whole problem.
In case anyone is wondering the whole point of the episode concludes with Jorgen asking Timmy something along the lines of 'were you doing these good deeds because it was the right thing to do or did you do them to receive praise?' If Nickelodeon did ban this episode it genuinely hurts because I've based a lot of my life off that meaning and it helped me grow as a person. I think every kid should get the chance to see this
Whenever he did something nice he would get berated though?? They still failed horribly at their message. Also, wanting appreciation isn't selfish or bad. Every human being needs someone to appreciate him. It's a basic need. No one in Timmy's life (in this episode anyway) did though.
I do too when I watch it first I have a philosophical moment thinking about it if the world would be better off without me first I thought that yes, just to later remember that I did made some people happy so that maybe it wasn't true , after that then I remember jorgen words and decided to keep doing good deeds (since I want to stop doing them since the person I lived with never noticed them and always said I was a cruel idiot) even if others never notice anything good I do
@sarinabina5487 Dude, that's literally the point. He just needed to ask instead of doing it for praise without considering how it may turn out. That wasn't his stuff he was messing with, it was someone else's. He needs to check with people before messing with their stuff. That's just how it was back then
I remember this episode, I was living with my grandparents and my parents just had their first boy. He didn’t get shipped off to a grandparent, and they didn’t come to get me until a few years later. This episode really hit too close to home, I remember crying so much my grandparents made me take a hiatus from this show.
@Je'shawn Keep your feet on the ground. And move your head all around. You put your hands in the air and move with the sound. DO THE EARTHQUAKE! "⛴️ ⛴️⛴️ ⛴️⛴️ ⛴️⛴️⛴️" DO THE EARTHQUAKE!
@@richardxia1720 I respectfully disagree with this statement. Buddhist monks and their teachings revolve around being selfless, and they are often the most happiest in life. Being selfless doesn't mean not focusing on yourself. Being selfless means helping others without expecting a reward or anything in exchange. That said, I don't think living for yourself is considered selfish. It's important to nourish yourself because that allows you to better navigate through life and its challenges.
@@xenogalewell to be fair though, if you’re selfless to the wrong people, you’ll end up in a shitty position. Personally I think it’s best to be selfless only to those who won’t take advantage of it.
There's a episode where Timmy wished everyone stopped growing older and had Cosmo forget he gave the wish and when Timmy admits to it it's been 50 years
I remember watching this episode and crying as a child. I was told by my bullie down the street every day since I was 6 that the world would be better off with out me and that I didn't deserve to live.i felt Timmy here and I understood the real message of the episode.it doesn't matter if you are great or ordinary, what is important is that you are alive and that gives you some basic rights if you can't meet the expectation off everyone else that's fine at least Timmy was trying in the beginning and Timmy never gives up on trying. Never give up on trying that's the secret to life.
I'm sorry you went through that with your bully. They were clearly projecting their feelings onto you because they sound awful. But I love your message here and I agree. We can feel beat down sometimes and life isn't fair enough to some of us, but if we keep fighting, we can live to see ourselves make something better out of it. Stay strong, and have a great day! 🧡
Tbh as a kid I also watched a cartoon where Gumball gets replaced by Bobbert (a robot) and basically his family thinks hes a better son than him. Gumball then slept in their backyard cuz they locked him out and he cried. Idk but when I was 8 I cried at that
But it poses an interesting question. Does anybody know what the overall message of the episode was, there’s gotta be some sort of good side to it for Timmy right?
I think people are forgetting the context of the “better live”. Yes Chester became rich, but now he has absent parents. Yes AJ got to be a genius, but now he was alone with no friends. ETC. All their lives improved in ways that he probably thought they would improve in, almost like he gave them what he assumed they wanted. Moral of the story, just because you think their lives are better doesn’t mean it is. IE, most people who win the lottery.
Except that wasn't the lesson the episode gave off. It showed everyone explicitly happy without Timmy with no negatives to it all. And at the end, Jorgen literally tells Timmy, "You don't do good deeds for rewards. You do them because you're supposed to." When Timmy was feeling unappreciated because people bitched about how he did it all wrong despite the effort and thought he put into it all.
That was the episode when all the executives all got together and discussed about their home life and all went about how their kids said I wish I was never born or the parents weren't there. And they all agreed to give the kids what they want in Timmy Turner.
It’s like “it’s a wonderful life” except instead of an angel showing him why he was vital and important for everyone around him he’s shown that everyone’s better off without him
@Deleted Devil Deleted Angel I don't have cable I just got internet these days so I just watch everything online now from 1 website I just recently started rewatching fairly oddparents so the episode is still on there on what I use but idk if it's on any streaming services or not
Saw this as a kid and understood just how heavy the subject was and it honestly made me think about my own position in life. But then again my ego was big enough to where I didn’t think I was a waste of space in my family’s life. School was a different matter because I constantly felt like I was out of place. Like I never really fit in. Turns out it was literally because I was mentally ahead of everyone else and therefore more knowledgeable and more intellectually inclined than them with episodes like this being the reason for that. While others found it depressing I found it stimulating. Still didn’t make me emotionally mature though….
I saw this as a kid. It was really strange. I remember agreeing with Timmy when he gave the wand back after he started changing everything back. It definitely makes you wonder if Timmy should even be alive if everyone else is happier without him. Of course it's unrealistic but remembering this episode now I can see that they unintentionally set up a very bad example
Gonna be honest after looking through the comments this episode is garbage and should have never aired. My biggest question is “if Chester life was “better” then how did he obtain fairies?” A god child only gets fairies when their life is absolute garbage and they can’t take it anymore. Yes Chester has always been poor but he was happy with his life and loved his father, they had a good relationship. Aj graduating and Timmy’s non existentence is actually a detriment to Chester. If no one else this is the one person who actually needed Timmy. Fairies don’t last long either, he’ll lose them by time he enters high school and go right back to being lonely. I could probably make a case for tootie as well since she lived the she-devil Vicky. Tootie didn’t have much going for her life either but her obsession with Timmy was probably the only thing keeping her grounded.
from my pov, the whole point is that YOUR happiness should not be built off the lives of other people. Your experience is JUST AS VALID as theirs. That was my takeaway and it was a good lesson to people who have a habit of self-sacrificing. There was also the point: The show wouldn’t exist without our protagonist. Everyone in the show wouldn’t have a place to exist without Timmy Turner. With previous 4th wall breaks in the lore, in a roundabout way, this episode was saying: YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THIS UNIVERSE, and without the various versions of YOU (everyone is a ‘you’ so-to-speak), in the universe, nobody would be around to interpret anything or exist.
I honestly felt bad for him in this episode and really it’s crazy how when I look back at this episode when it first aired I was honestly pretty sad cuz really he deserves better and really all that changed when the secret wish happened and I’m like, “Well damn, Timmy trapped everyone in a time loop for 50 years so maybe he’s the bad guy after all”
I remember watching this episode, but I can't even blame Nickelodeon for banning it. There's dark episodes in kids shows, and then there was this mess. Even as a kid, when it all went back to normal, I still felt that it was pretty messed up. I can't imagine this helped anyone who thought the world would be better without them
I remember this episode and I can confirm. It reinforced the thought that I would be better off gone. I was in a very dark place as a kid and this didn't help
I only saw this episode once and I still remember the way it made me feel, it's just an awful message to send kids, especially since some kids probably do have parents that make them feel this way and use tv to escape from that. I have two parents and they aren't perfect and my dad did some things that really hurt me, but I know they love me and this still effed me up. For kids with truly abusive or neglectful parents this could have been devastating. Fairy odd parents had some genuinely good episodes and it was a good show overall even if butch is not my favorite person nowadays, but this episode was a mistake on every level
Agree on so many levels, I actually don’t like butch as a writer. He took a completely different route then what the og writers for Danny phantom wanted to do. They actually had darker plans for that final season we never got to see. I would like to get into it with this episode but as I already did I’ll just leave with this. If Chester’s life was so good why did he need fairies? You don’t get fairies unless your life is absolute hell and Chester has always been pretty happy considering his life. This was one of the few characters that needed Timmy
I see what you mean but it's not really wrong either. It's just kinda pointing out something that does happen. For example, had I not been born my mother likely would have a good job and wouldn't be a drug addict now. I think it the whole topic shouldn't be swept under the rug since it holds and element of realism but yeah showing it to little kids is something else
@@Dexter-Draws This episode would explain why Timmy's parents are neglectful toward him, they wanted a daughter and a golden child. @@Jose04537 Yeah it's interesting to see how one slight change to a child can make a huge difference in how the parents see them. Really sad. I agree with you, however I still found it interesting to see since as I said, it's more common than you'd think. It happens a lot that parents would be better off without their kids and they realize it far too late. It's for sure a concept that shouldn't be popped into a kids cartoon but one I'd like to see more elsewhere.
@@Dexter-Draws the thing with that is, it's all assumption. We can never know for sure if a certain action in the past be changed, it would go the way we assumed it to be. Had someone kill Hitler as a baby, would it prevent WW2? What if USA never visit Japan, would they still be a locked out country? What if Europe never travel the seas, would the Chinese colonize the Americas first? All assumption, no one can know for certain
I remember watching this episode and when it turned out everyone’s life was better off without him I just couldn’t stop wondering “what does he do now?” I don’t remember why he returns. Some bs about everyone’s life wasn’t as good as it was cracked up to be so he returns. It felt like such a cop out.
It's honestly amazing that timmy didn't go through a whole villain arc as a direct result of seeing this. I remember this episode as a kid and not even thinking critically about the messed up implications of it all.
To me Timmy carried the series. When I started watching the fairly odd parents I liked Timmy because we were like him one point. We are all average people. Just because you think you are better off without existing doesn't mean others think the same way. That's a true person that cares about you no matter what.
Dude I remember watching that episode as a kid and being so genuinely confused as to how I was supposed to feel by the end. Unlocked a memory there my guy
Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless. ❤❤
it’s also cool to realize Timmy’s parents bad habit of ignoring him all happened because Timmy’s mom wanted a break and Timmy misheard them talking, then called Vicky himself
I honestly remember this episode, I wondered why everyone was being so mean to Timmy when he was trying to do something good without being asked. He was doing a good job too. I felt bad for him
This episode randomly pops back in my head every now and then. I remember watching it as a kid and i think the whole time i thought something along the lines of "Timmy should just exist out of spite". Turns out, i was talking to myself 😅
Yea now that I think about it that’s doesn’t make any sense. The fairy’s only come when a child is in really bad situation or depressed. Chester may be poor but he’s always been happy and rather proud of his father. So if he has fairies then maybe Timmy disappearing means Chester was lonely and didn’t have anyone so he couldn’t cope. This was the one person who actually needed Timmy. I don’t even think the show mentions tootie. She had to live with Vicky and even her parents were terrified of her. Without Timmy around how was tooties life? I feel like this is a butch Hartman moment cause this dude is not a good writer and this episode ignores its own logic. There’s not even a setup for this episode which makes it worse. Yea I can see why this episode got taken down
when you look back on the show a couple years later, it makes you wonder if this entire episode was either a learning experience or if it was a punishment. for those who suffer from chronic depression, such as myself, watching this episode can give you two different feelings: calm or sadness. the calm being that you can see how timmy may become more level-headed, as he was a pretty outlandish kid especially with cosmo and wanda not there to knock him down a few pegs the other being sadness. wishing you were never born and then finding out the world could care less if you were in it or not can really put a strain you for real. there have been days where i feel like this episode personified. i felt like if i died no one would care. which isn’t true. i felt so bad for timmy in this episode. i’m kind of glad this episode was off the air. especially since the target demographic of people who watch the show were kids aged 5 to 15 and then your occasional teen or adult. imagine how young kids could have felt seeing this on the air.
@@BradyAlley i have no idea what christmas film you're talking about. did it not occur to you that humans tend to do the same things as others have done before without even knowing it?
@amorfatikhb8122 Bro, no. The title of the 1940 movie is "It's a wonderful life", and the title of this episode is "It's a wishful life." It is so clear it's a spoof that they the episode the same way. Don't speak unless you know what you're talking about.
I remember watching this episode and thinking how fucked this situation was, like Timmy is a child who’s trying to help and do impressive stuff for a kid his age without help, yet his criticized. Even at the end he decided not to wish himself back into existence cause everyone had better lives without him, and it brought back cause that decision wasn’t selfish. Like after seeing everyone he should have wished to go to a better show and then everyone but him would have gotten erased
This episode was so good I still think of it to this day “Would my people be better off without me” I think this episode wasn’t bad, but I definitely was a reality check and showed how sometimes the world doesn’t revolve around you.
But the episode didn't show timmy the world didn't revolve around him, just that everyone he knows would be happier if he never existed which is not a good message at all
