This week on the podcast, Sean and Ethan kick things off by chatting about movies - particularly scaaaaaary movies. Next, they discuss OJ, UFOs, living in other countries and much, much more!
I actually read something recently that said that you should be comfortable in your own shoes first before putting yourself in others’. You have to know who you are first- otherwise your brain has a hard time defining who YOU are and not just what shoes you’re jumping into.
Jokes aside, y’all are some of the only content creators left from my childhood that hasn’t like … turned into a horrid person lmao. On the nose but the reason for this sob was the fact that I wished I was able to hold onto my childhood a little longer. I just wish I was given the chance. Kinda cheesy but I feel like we’re all given that chance to get that same comfort from our childhoods through watching our favourite RU-vidrs. Hats off to you, thank you for making me the very strange but somehow functioning adult I am today.
I love this podcast because its a perfect companion, like hanging out within a friend group just listening to your buddies chat, you can just zone out and suddenly the subject is telekinesis and you have no idea how you ended up there. Perfection honestly
This! I tried explaining it to my father who's trying to get into podcasts and I tell him this is why I love Brain Leak 😊 you just feel like it's back in the days when everyone got together to hang out on the deck and exchange stories.
Got distracted for five minutes, tuned back into what I was watching, and these guys are talking about how they're convinced they could have telekinetic powers. I hope this podcast never changes
I know you want to 'structure' the pod a bit more in the coming months, but honestly I love that you just go off and talk about anything and everything and just let the conversation happen. It's so nice just listening to two buds riffing, it's so natural and comforting❤
@@jwillied1326Thanks bro. I tore it really badly two years ago when I had bleeding ulcers and had full body spasms, but over the time since I've been able to build it back up so I can walk, use my arms, hold things, etc. Every now and again it gets thrown out, but give it a week and it'll be back to normal. I'll be okay. Just gotta rest and hydrate until I'm back to normal.
@@jwillied1326Thanks. I appreciate the well wishes. It hurts, but I'll get through it. With a little work taking care of yourself, you'd be surprised what the human body can bounce back from. I'm not letting it keep me down.
As someone who lives in America on the East Coast and works 3rd shift, Brain Leak drops on RU-vid at a perfect time for me as well: Usually between 3:00 am - 4:00 am. I’m usually halfway through my shift and there’s not a whole helluva lot going on when I receive that trusty notification. 🧠👀🧠👀
Phrases wise- I love the phrase "calling the kettle black". Also love the contrast between '"too many cooks spoil the broth'' and "many hands, make light work"
"Pot calling the kettle black" is for accusing someone of doing something they also do. Many hands make light work for labor, but too many people injecting their opinions into a recipe or other creation makes it appealing to nobody.
You can ask Evelien about "Helaas pindakaas". A Dutch saying. Literally means, too bad peanut butter/ unfortunately peanut butter. It's like accepting it's not gonna happen or just bad luck.
The one big UFO sighting in Britain I know of is one that happened in some woods in Suffolk (East Anglia) in the 1950s (I think). Over a few years a bunch of people said they saw UFOs and stuff. This, of course, happened near an American airbase (although Americans who worked at the airbase, also said they saw stuff in the woods).
Since I work 3rd shift I don't mind the time you upload. You give me my fresh hump day leak.I can start my day and continue my week. Thank you Brain Leak. 👍👾
My favorite etymologies are around bread!! Bread used to be cooked in ovens without sheets or pans on bricks/clay that was preheated by a fire. They scooped out the fire and put in the dough, so the bottom crust would be ashy and dirty, while the "upper crust" was clean, so the wealthy cut the bread horizontally. Thus was born the "upper crust" and "lower crust" of society😌. The 2nd is because "rule of thumb" came from grinding grain into flour. You'd pinch the flour between your fingers to make sure it was fine enough for cooking. Words! They mean things! And when they don't, there's a word for that too! Lacuna!!
Please don't change it.... For once it's nice to be in the meat of the day, where it's my after dinner treat. It's nice to have it in "Australian" time. NB: I realise there are more than one country in a similar time zone, I just happen to be from the country mentioned.
2:06 this is so accurate. I'm someone who never watched new things or listens to new songs unless it comes on by accident. my brain just wants things I know are good.
(To the tune of We’ll Meet Again by Dame Vera Lynn) We’ll leak again Leak with Sean And with Ethan And I know we’ll leak again in funny ways Keep leaking through Through your brain, and your pants too Till these leaky thoughts drive my hump day blues away….
I have a similar interest in phrases like you guys were talking but more misused phrases rather than the origins and meanings. My favorite one is “A jack of all trades is a master on none” which is how it’s typically used today to like shame people, for lack of a better word. But that version means the complete opposite compared to the full phrase which is “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one”. I think it’s crazy how at some point in time some people stopped using the full phrase and it completely changed the meaning of it.
Alot of people may have faked the sky trumpets but it was a phenomenon that was really happening. We had it in our small town in Northern British Columbia. I remember it being something about the magnetosphere in the end. They are literally called "skyquakes".
My favorite phrase due to the origin of it is a phrase from Argentina, naturally it's in Spanish, it's "La verdad de la milanesa" which means "The truth of the milanesa", it's used when you're giving the facts to someone, milanesa being a type of food. The origin is that decades ago, in Argentina the origin of the milanesa recipe was being debated for a while and so the phrase came about.
i love your upload time, because as soon as i clock in for work I have something to listen to. I usually am able to crush out the majority of my work in the first couple of hours when i listen because it feels like when you invite a friend over to body double :)
I love the timing of when the podcast episodes go up! Right as I get to work in the morning, I’ve already been thinking about the new episode and excited to watch it while I work 🥰
I love the upload time as it’s released early morning so every Wednesday I know I have a brain leak video to watch while I do my stuff and I love that! Please don’t change it!❤
Omg SEÀN! Some of the most compelling cases of alien abduction took place in UK and Ireland! Mr. Ballen has shared some of the stories on his channel. I seriously recommend that you listen to them.
I have thought SO MANY times about what it might be like if someone hopped into my body. I have a genetic disorder. I grew up thinking all the shit I was dealing with was normal. It wasn't until I was older that I started to realize my body did a million things it shouldn't. Not just pain, though that too, but random shit. Like I thought everyone had to deal with the occasional shoulder dislocation, for instance. If someone was in here, I don't think they'd know how to handle the day to day. I've built up so many patterns and movements to keep injury at a minimum. Don't turn too fast. Straighten and brace before sneezing. Tilt and prop up ankles when laying down, but make sure the blankets aren't on them or they'll pop out. Open soda bottles with the inner palm and not the fingers. I do a million things subconsciously, built up over the years. Any poor bastard in this body would probably have to spend an entire day just trying to figure out how to walk, eat, and breathe properly to avoid injury and feeling absolutely gross. ((For the record, I'm not bitching. I'm used to these things most of the time. I just genuinely enjoy this thought experiment and have thought about it a lot, haha))
I personally love midnight uploads bc i get up at 3 or 4 am for work and its such a serotonin boost to see that its leak day. However I'm okay with y'all changing it if the majority feels its needed.
I enjoy the current upload time. It's either ready to go while I'm getting ready or if I'm having terrible insomnia it's perfect to listen to a I'm going to sleep.
I'm happy with the time of day you upload these videos. I'm in the UK. So it's like 9 a.m. I wake at 6 a.m. By the time I'm done with all my morning routine, Brain Leak is just about out. The time works well for me. I listen whilst I do whatever I want to do that day. It works for me. Thanks guys.
1:00:48 I enjoy the night time uploads, keeps me company while I get up to shenanigans. Aka eating a whole pomegranate inside of a water or ice water like a raccoon. Don’t ask it’s me time.
please the uploading how it has been I listen to your podcast in the morning every wednesday and I am extremely happy with it everytime, so I am voting for to keep the uploading how y'all have been doing it :)
Bob's your Teapot is one of my go tos, I remember it being in a Rowntrees fruit randoms advert and it stuck. I think it was to do with some politician appointing his uncle and then it was construed out from there.
RU-vid is the only way I watch the pod. I know you guys upload in the middle of the night Wednesday but I honestly don’t watch the pod right away. I let a couple episodes build up so when I feel in the mood to binge then I’ll binge the pod.
I was getting SO SAD that you weren't going to post... it usually hits at 0200 in my time zone and I was just waiting and waiting and waiting. And then BAM. I was so damn happy 😀 thank you so much for that. ETHAN I MISS YOU. I'm so happy for you taking your break and having your me time though. But can't wait for you to be back on Twitch and RU-vid.
As a night shifter, I actually really enjoy the night time uploads because they come out around the end of my shift, and it's a really nice end to the day
For Godzilla x Kong if you are going to watch the monster fights Chefs kiss. For the people in the story the only person that kinda matters plot wise is the little girl. Also you Should definitely watch the boy and the heron. It definitely deserves best motion picture for animation. Fun fact Godzilla Minus One was the first Godzilla movie to win an an academy award ever in the 70 year history of Godzilla
The "so hungry I could eat a horse" I believe came from the time where people didn't have cars so it's more like "so hungry I'd eat my horse" which would leave you walking everywhere and old bullets didn't have gun power in them when you "bit the bullet" it was just a ball of metal
I have a two in one etymology. The word stereotype comes from the printing press, they used blocks with letters on them to stamp ink and they would manufacture commonly used words are one block to save time, those were called stereotypes and the word cliché is from the noise the machines made when stamping
My phone is acting like a twat right now by trying to impede my Leak Time! But it won’t stop me from showing my love for Seán, Ethan and my Fellow Leakers!! Edit: Now that I’m finally able to watch, let me show my Half-Century age yet again by saying that, to those of you who grew up with that lame-ass HBO Feature Presentation with the boring static… Search for the *AMAZING SPECTACLE* of what we 80s Kids used to see on HBO before each Feature Presentation! 🧠👀🧠👀
I love the one hour of nonsense podcast you guys do it so well , even if it is more niche and not as many ppl like it there are alot if ppl who still do never change ❤
In my head when picturing dropping the other shoe. The shoes are on someone's feet they are taking a step and then they take the other step and drop the second bit of information.
The OJ Simpson piece! I just did a week of learning about him in my criminal justice class. I wish so bad that I could have been there to nerd out about it with them LOL
