Here i will explain in detail why i had a bad experience with Lingoda, this is totally based on my own experience. I just wanted to inform you about how they work so you can also hear the other side of the story. Because all the other youtubbers get benefits in one way or another from promoting them so they will always keep it positive.

I hear your frustration, but Lingoda is providing very good education and needs to pay for professional teachers and back-end programers. If it were easy to meet the terms of the refund, they wouldn't make money. Hence why if it's "free" you need to read every single term. I imagine your language improved markedly over the 90 days. I'm paying Lingoda month-to-month and would highly recomend it as a language learning site. Every single negative review is from people who've failed the sprint.

I understand what you say, but my language skills barely improved because as i said before the overal quality is poor, quality is very inconsistent and depends on the teacher and amount of students in the class. The fact that they dont put any warning upfront or dont say anything about it is a sign of just wanting the money and not caring about results. The biggest mistake of them was the fact that they basically lied to me about if i already failed or not. I asked them the first month immediately and they said dont worry it will be taken inconsideration but dont worry it will probably be fine, just finish it and keep going. So thats what i did, with the idea that if i did everything perfect after this mistake it would be oke. But no they are cold hearted and dont care

i’m ver happy with my experience using Babbel. I purchased the greatly discounted lifetime subscription. So cheap that I can afford another program if I so desire. Offering a full refund was a big check for me. In my experience is something sounds to good to be true, it is to good to be true. Thanks for the heads up about the terms, it apples to all of them I’m sure.

So sorry you were not able to get your money back and you had a bad experience. I have participated 4 times in the full sprint, and the four times I have gotten my money back. I even participated in the first Sprint ever! and many of the strict rules and so came from the experiences of the past Sprints as many participants, including myself took advantage of the loopholes.In my opinion Lingoda is more useful for people who have a little bit of experience with the language they want to learn, as the dynamic of the school I feel is to speak more. That is what I liked about Lingoda and why I keep participating. It can be hard to follow every single rule but for getting my money back I think it is worth it (also the sprints are not cheap).

Yes so instead of realising they could lose a regular customer they rather lose it and take the dough. I am happy you had a good experience. But to me to looked very money hungry and not caring and unemphatic. So i had experience with the language already, i find it interesting that you say its good for speaking practice because the total opposite of what i got. In half of my lessons i was lucky to get 2 sentences out. So the overal quality was low compared to what you pay. Its better you use iTalki or Verbling for 1 on 1 lessons for the same money or even les and more flexibility. So even if i would have goten my money back i would not have returned probably because i didnt really learn a lot from it.

@@reefyyy Well, all the companies what they are looking for is to get more money and not lose whay they´ve got. So of course they will do whatever they can to not give your money back but all in terms of the rules.In my case I even took advantage of the loopholes twice in different sprints and I got my money back. I guess in my case I found it very useful for speaking because I am a very social person and I am extremely good with languages and school stuff so I always end up interacting a lot with the classmates and the teacher. Most of the times I was the only one who turn on the cam in the classes so that helped to engage more. Many times in the feedback I got really good and longer comments towards me than my classmates but then I guess that could be because of how I am as a person. I have never used Italki or Verbling but another reason I have liked the sprint is that at the end I got my money back, some sprints have been harder than others or I have not fellt so motivated but from my point my perspective, the key of these sprints is taking the few or much you learned and not paying at the end.

EDWIN. Can a person with no knowledge of the language chosen benefit from Lingoda ? Is it practical to go for a sprint or supersprint - and get conversational skills atleast to manage short exchanges with friends & on travel .... I would like your views ...

Wow you're complaining because you didn't read the terms and conditions?!! Woooow. If you think of going signing up for something and hoping to win your money back, YOU NEED TO READ THE FULL TERMS. It's only a couple pages so there's no excuse. Take accountability instead of complaining and bashing the company...
@reefyyy
@reefyyy 2 года назад
Yeah like anybody ever reads these, i mean thats not even the point anymore, its how they treat you and how they purposefully fool you by just not mentioning this for example. Trying to trick people basically. There is a difference between honesty and following rules.

Every negative review I've seen is from someone who's failed the Sprint because they didn't read the Terms and Conditions of the Sprint. They wouldn't make it EASY to get your money back, but it is not impossible. Read the rules. Read the Terms and Conditions. Make sure you are really able to fulfil your side of the bargain before you sign up. They don't owe you anything.

Yes understadible but why lead me on? They kept telling me everything will be fine while it wasnt from the get go.... thats just mean and even after doing every single thing correct and showing up every single lesson i am dismissed because i did it 3 days to early??? that shows just that you have zero empathy nor care about the language journey but just the money. I told them in the first week about my mistake and asked multiple times about it. They always said it will be fine when in the end it wasnt.....

Thats oke, i mean for me rules are rules too. But the thing is they just lead me on by making me think i still had a chance. They should just have said "no you failed" and done. This was way more bastard. And the contact with them was very heartless

Dude, I feel sorry that you lost the challenge. BUT, they mentioned it in their terms and conditions and it was on YOU to read it, not them. Yes, had they not mentioned this anywhere in the contract, then I would have believed too that they run a scam, but that's apparently not the case. Yes, it's true that I dont read the TnC while buzing a phone, but that's because I am not expecting a refund from them. Personally, I would read the TnC 5 times and clarify any doubts before enrolling into any such thing.
@reefyyy
@reefyyy 2 года назад
Yes i understand, but they should just have told me immediately and not lead me on and lie to me. I technically did everything correct, i attended 3 months without missing a single lesson. But only based on that i started 3 days to early i didnt make it. There is also something called coulance and empathy. They were very stone cold about it. Communication was almost impossible. But in general a "DONT start now but at the 1st" notice would be very useful. Because its about what they want to be right? Do they genuinely want to teach people or just get money? Because if its not all about the money and they actually cared about their students then whats the harm in the warning? Or do they want people to fail over stupid little details and demotivate them but get the money at least? I definitely looks like the latter. Next to that the lessons are half decent to just poor quality. So i am not saying its not my fault for reading the details but it shows their colours basically.

Hi Jason. I am so sorry for your very frustrating experience. Thanks for your video. I was wondering if to do the super sprint or not. I took their online French level test and according to them I should start at B2. I was wondering if they would have enough classes of interest at that level. For German I would be a B1. I was concerned of possible internet failure since I live in Washington DC and in winter you can get a snowstorm where you loose power and in summer if a hurricane hits the powerlines can be down several days. What language were you learning with them? Thanks again, Paula
@reefyyy
@reefyyy 2 года назад
Hi Paula, you are welcome! i did the sprint indeed. Honestly i wouldnt do it. If you follow every rule to the point you will get your money back but one mistake and you are mercilessly punished. So missing one lesson means failure. It was i think 270 euro's more or less per month, so 750 almost 800 euro's in total that i lost. For that money there are better options, because like i said the lessons are maybe half of the time a bit useful. But mostly not. Also you end up booking classes you dont really care about just so you can firstly fit it in your schedule and secondly to not miss a day. The teachers vary in skills and teaching methods, some are good some are not what you are looking for. So all in all its one big roulette. For that money things like Verbling, iTalki or even Preply are way better. Thats all one on one and it can be cheap, imagine that lingoda maybe is roughly 10 eu per lesson with that package, and you get a group lesson with minimal attention and value. For 10 eu or sometimes less (depends on the language) you can get that same hour one on one with full attention and value to what you need. Conclusion: Lingoda super sprint is a gamble, yes you could win it back but the changes are minimal, losing it to something stupid demotivates you. Other options dont give you your money back but knowing this there is also no disappointment of failing and therefor no need for losing motivation because you dont expect to get the money back.

Hi Jason! How are you? Thanks for this review of Lingoda. I felt that there was something fishy about it, so I didn't commit to it. Glad for bumping into this video. Do you have any suggestions for online courses for self-study that are good in your opinion? Hugs from France!

@@jazz4life672 why? They lied to me very simple. As I mentioned I told them immediately about my mistake (i acknowledged it). Instead of just telling me the truth the first week I informed them they just lead me on with the idea I still had a chance. But as I mentioned before, it’s not showing any kind of flexibility or humanity when a student has done everything right except from starting 3 days to early. So it’s clear where their priorities are: money. Not to keep students motivated and going to the next level. If I made any other mistake I wouldn’t make this video, I was there everyday single day for 3 months long. The quality of the lessons is another topic.

Of course it's about money. You're complaining about money. Of course they're not being flexible, it's a business. Small mistake or a big mistake it's still your mistake. That's why you should have read the rules regarding the refund policy. But you not reading is their fault also?
