Soooooo first of all brilliant explanation 👏. Secondly I have the m1 macbook pro and I do mixing and mastering with just the headphones and laptop. 2 things. The laptop can handle the power needed as long as you don't want to deafen yourself. If your ears are good enough to hear what you need to for the right balance then mixing and mastering at a low to medium volume is perfectly fine on this macbook. And it packs some punch for a laptop headphones jack. 2. I use HD 650's. But........they are just for the final listening process..for stage width clarity and punch. I then use the Sony mdr 7506 ( I think ) can't remember the model.their not with me right now..for listening to the bass and kick relationship. But..... Believe it or not.. The best hands down best ever ever ever ever headphones I've ever bought and used, for mixing and mastering are ........ Drum rolls....... My sons platinum Sony PlayStation headphones.. The best mix the best master. They are so clear. I've used over 10 pairs of headphones but always found faults.. These.....are perfect except...( haha I know 🤣) The bass.. You need something more clear on the sub range.. Hence the Sony mdr 7506... But back to topic. I have a imac with appollo for recording. And I then mix on my macbook pro with just headphones jack
Is it different with desktop systems and does it always matter or only after certain amount of volume? I always feel like I am listening at quite low volume compared what I could and bass seems ok...
Do you think Audio interface is required for the new Apple Silicons? (M1, M2). On their website it says they are compatible with high impedance headphones.
this video is not accurate actually its not the high impedance hard to drive but lower sensitivity of some headphones actually higher impedance headphones is easier to drive compared to lower impedance this video is not right at all
High impedance phones are easier to drive in the sense that they don't need as much current for the same power output. But they need more voltage, which is usually lacking in laptop headphone amps primarily made for low impedance headsets. /Thomas
