@@BJGvideos I've heard of Olive Garden but never Sonic the resturant until recently. Even though it is an American thing, it is still internationally recognised.
This comment got me wondering about something. How many of the Sonic GAMES actually feature Sonic eating chili dogs? Or is it strictly an expanded media thing?
Yet SEGA refuses to do a promotion with Sonic. The restaurant that literally serves Chili Dogs and has servers rolling around at the speed of sound. It's marketing that writes itself for crying out loud.
Actually, it’s the other way around. Sonic the Restaurant doesn’t want to be associated with Sonic the Hedgehog, like the absolute morons that they are.
Hence why they should’ve changed that joke in the international release of this movie. It just doesn’t make sense in countries that don’t have that restaurant chain.
Something interesting about Sonic is that even though he’s primarily a video game character, I prefer it being like in the 90’s where he’s also a multi media character. Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character. Mario is a video game character. Sonic is a video game character, cartoon character, comic book series, an action figure, and he doesn’t come off as made to sell toys like He-Man and 80’s Ninja turtles due to having an astonishingly fleshed out world for a character at the time.
Also his design is pretty unique. The thing about He Man and GI Joe is that they were in a very defined art style to cheapen toys production. They were all literally from the same mold.

The chao lose their home in the destruction and have to get a temporary home. They then rent out an olive garden, renamed to chao garden, and give them the never ending pasta bowl to feed them.
When I think of fast food restaurant that would get product placement in any sonic the Hedgehog media I thought it would be sonic drive in why Because because of the name and it service chili chesses dogs Sonic favorite food

Let’s hope more movies do this. As demonstrated here, everybody thought Olive Garden was Product Placement, when in fact it wasn’t. If more movies had more brands without being paid for it, we as an audience would be less picky about that stuff. It might even assist with Subliminal Advertisement, if so many products were in numerous movies, to the point where we wouldn’t even see it as Product Placement.
Let’s hope they don’t. This joke doesn’t work at all in countries where Olive Garden doesn’t exist but of course the morons at Sega didn’t bother to check that out before they tried to be funny.
I honestly did find the Olive Garden stuff funny. And I don't even have the restaurant where I live either (also not American.) I assumed it was product placement, but it was so cheesy that I didn't mind it. This is why product placement isn't always bad if they handle it well. It's even funnier now that it isn't even product placement.

Apparently Sega didn’t bother to check if those jokes would work OUTSIDE the USA where Olive Garden doesn’t exist. If they were so desperate to be funny then at least make a joke about an international restaurant chain rather then a USA exclusive one.

Olive Garden is a family Italian restaurant that’s like EVERYWHERE in the us It’s uber cheap and FAMOUS for bottomless pasta and breadsticks, soups, salads etc. The joke is it’s THE cheapest “”nice”” sit down restaurant you could possibly get. It’s the butt monkey of American restaurants, but weirdly nostalgic cause if you had to take a high school football team out to eat it was Olive Garden or nothing lol Which makes it the opposite place you’d go as a newly wed couple, lol It’s slogan is “when your here your family” which is also a bit of a meme in itself So the fact it was an ongoing joke in the writers room doesn’t surprise me at all
@@Nilon241 that’s the funny thing is they DO have menu items. The salads and dessert bar are buffets. But the pasta and breadsticks are menu items. Breadsticks are bottomless by default. The pasta you have to buy a special “pasta pass” to make bottomless, but once you do it’s the same thing. They’ll just keep giving you pasta for however long you ask. I think the Olive Garden dude in the movie even mentions it when he hands them the gift card lol

Eh.. you can call it brainwashing but when you use someone's brand like that? You have to get permission or it could cause an issue. So there is no way despite the directors words that something did not go on.
