I had an ex once, who didn't have a job for over 11 years...yes, he took care of the kid at home, but once she's in public school for 8 hours a day its no longer a stay at home dad its unemployed dad--but I know the job market is hard so i let go of a lot. But even when I was paying ALL the bills, and oh by the way buying his beer, he told me it was my job to clean the toilets because I was a woman. So I don't buy your supposedly funny comment. Every situation is different, stop putting all women into one group of uselessness and we'll stop doing the same with men.

That's not what was said here. Its almost like we hear the same thing but don't process it the same. They are saying that when women work as much as men, they are viewed as less effective while men are considered more effective for doing the same amount of work.

@@imjoebuckyall2891 Its almost like you don't like women (for whatever personal reason you may have) so you find one you don't agree with and say this is all women. You can do that with men, any race, any one from any country, town etc. You will always be just as wrong. How would you like it if I found someone I didn't like and used it to judge you? Its just so low intelligence and effort.

Yeah ... I think I will take this with a grain of salt. She actually said the woman working 40 hrs got the same "performance review" as the man who worked 60 hrs. That is not the same as saying they did the same amount of work. I work a considerable amount of overtime and get paid for it, but it does not automatically give me a "better performance review" ... but, I definitely got more things done.

I do outreach in the undocumented community in my blue sanctuary city and I always tell our newcomers to be aware of employer abuse once they enter the workforce. So many of them are ready to work for low wages.

Maximizing your time is the strategy to adapt. Theres always an efficient way to looking at maximizing ones priorities by being simplistic. Structure & routine most of all to maintain a 60hr work week, no burn out.

I worked 60-80 hours a week for over 20+ years. Im retired now. Quit listening to these people trying to make you victims. Being a victim will never get you to where you want to be in life.

Thats awful but I am glad you found a way to make that a positive experience for you. For a lot of people the idea of dedicating so much of your time to a job is an example of an improper and harmful work life balance. Did working so much let you escape issues at home? What kind of work did you have? Where you an small business owner who needed to dedicate so much of your time to keep your business afloat. I'm have a job now and I am starting up my own company but I don't intend to spend 50% of my life and 80% of my waking life working. I work hard now, but I am investing in a better more relaxed future for myself in a couple of years.

@@mitchelljenkins4815 Nothing awful about it. If I had 20 more good years or if I had the chance to do it all over again I would. I started cooking when I was 14 at Blackberry Farms and ended it owning my own restaurant for the last 6 years. The only way to make it as a small business owner is to work way more than you want. Most industries have become so heavily regulated that only big businesses can survive the ups and downs. Being a small business owner means doing a lot of things you don't want to. The entitled people never last long because they think owners shouldn't have to work. Sounds like you are figured out the first survival skill

@@mitchelljenkins4815 Nothing awful about it. I'd do it again. Thats kind of my point. Small businesses now a days are getting a lot harder. Heavy regulation benefits large corporations and once you realize how much employees actually cost,....yeah you'll be working a lot if you want to actually make it.

There is probably a correlation between having to work more than 40 hours a week and; -higher average age of 1st marriage (if at all) -higher average age of parents when 1st child is born (if at all) -lower percentage of married citizens exceeding a 2.1 birth rate Looking at data on the work culture of Japan and Korea, everyone following a 'grindset" mentality doesn't have good societal outcomes.

When I was stationed near Kaiserslautern, our unit worked with the Germany's version of the National guard, we worked German work hours with German holidays. I honestly didn't think we'd get as much done. But I was wrong. We were able to use our down time to take care of our personnel issues. No one ever complained about getting stuff done. It was great.

These women need to be completely transparent about workplace inequality. There is a huge difference between the salary world and the hourly world. These women seem to be discussing the salary world, where everyone is paid the same, whether they work 40 hours or 60 hours. In the hourly world, where you get paid for the hours you work and CAN earn overtime wages, the inequality only appears when it comes to hours worked. If a woman never works overtime because of home issues not job performance, that's on her. I just received a pay raise for my hourly pay because I worked harder. If I'm offered overtime, I get paid overtime wages. I get rewarded for being productive with overtime wages. My gender doesn't matter.
