Why Owlman Is More Than Just An Alternate Batman 

Owlman is a great villain pre-52. The Batman Who Laughs is just plot armor filled, edge lord garbage who defeats everyone off panel.

Imagine if Bruce trained under the Court of Owls.

Owlman is the perfect showing of someone who feels so empty he would destory the multiverse just so he knows he did something of his own free will. Him and Ulquiorra from bleach pretty much show why it's horrifying to find yourself at the bottom of the abyss or detached from everything Plus like gods and monsters batman owlman can stand on his own as a character

I find it ironic that owlmans plan if executed, would ultimately lead to nothing(in line with nothing matters), but his decision to do that incited others to stop him. Kind of thwarting the whole "nothing matters besides *this* decision" idea, which in itself matters. He created a situation and circumstances where it does actually matter in the entire grand scheme of things. Momentarily destabilizing the entire multiverses fate.

Owlman is the coolest. Actually love the Crime Syndicate. He's one of my favorite characters. The animated movie did him the most justice, also "EARTH 2"

said it before and imma say it again: the scariest villains are the ones who don't care if they win or lose, they simply want to do something that might make a difference to them, but if they fail? oh well, bleach has a very similar villain i've forgotten his name!!

If that version it's not the one from the new 52 then I don't know wich one is, but it doesn't make that much sense that he turns evil when he knows his parents weren't good people. The original Squadron Supreme's Nighthawk actually becomes a hero because he found out after his father's death that he was a corrupt businessman. Grant Morrison's version of Owlman is much more interesting. His mom and brother (his Earth's Bruce) are murdered and he learns as a young boy that they died because his dad was going to testify against a monster, so in his mind his loss is his father's fault, because he exposed his family to danger without gaining anything. It's a mix of egotism and nihilism what drives him, besides the desire to punish Thomas Sr. for his good deed what made Thomas Jr. becoming the biggest criminal and de facto ruler of Gotham.

He’s pretty much the only evil Batman who’s stuck the landing and actually good. Wrath, Hush, Talon, Prometheus, and more subtle evil batmen like Azrael, Lockup, Ghostmaker (I know he’s not evil but still) have never really made a big splash. Sure there’s Zur but he was ruined and I don’t even wanna talk about Batkek. I know there’s probably like a billion other attempts at an evil Batman I missed too

I have nothing against the person who currently voiced Batman in the "Crisis on Two Earth's movie, but how much more impactful would that scene with Owlman and Batman would have been had Kevin Conroy (R.I.P.) did the Batman voice? I only say it because James Woods killed it with the Owlman voice. Never expected the Owlman to sound "that" good.

Well... In my personal "multiverse*... I have Earth Prime plus 1 thru 12. (This is based on the old original DC+MARVEL "extra sized " crossover with Superman and Spiderman and company.... Owlman's plan to destroy the multiverse by destroying wouldn't have worked anyway, you can't destroy a forest by cutting down the first tree then go home, every choice and every action has a parallel existence, so where we see the worlds were he failed, there should be a world were he succeeded, but no, the multiverse is still going, still expanding, still changing, he was right, nothing he dose matters.

There r diff versions of Owlman, some r good and some bad. He is from a Earth were morality is reversed. the 1st Talon from Earth-3 is the Earth-3 counterpart of Robin. In some he was the only type and not a group like Prime Earth Talons. I always like the Anti-matter version of Owlman. Like the Infinite Frontier version as well. Same as the Rebirth version, even though we don't know much, but he hated Batman who Laughs and 1 who discovered that the Owlman is the TRUE anti-Batman.

I would like to share my point of view the connection of Owlman & Batman Beyond. First Thomas Wayne Jr. (Owlman) is the Eldest Son of the Wayne Family & Terry Mcginnis is also the Eldest Son of his Family. Terry Mcginnis was raised by parents that were Psychologically Identical to Bruce's Parents. Does that mean that Terry Mcginnis represents as Thomas Wayne Jr. in Project Batman Beyond? Whereas, Matt McGinnis (Younger Brother) represents Bruce Wayne in the McGinnis Family?

I feel like the Batman who laughs is just not interesting at all. Every single scene with him just kinda ends up being “I outsmarted your outsmarting but I won’t explain how or have any kind of logical sense because I did everything offscreen” and like, cool man, glad to see we don’t get to have any fun as an audience and see this guy as any kind of a threat outside what he says he does and that the writers say he’s a threat Owlman proves why he’s a threat. He’s cold and calculating and often has a plan that you can obviously see or counterplay that makes sense. When Batman tries to gas him, he has a face mask. He’s smart in the way we expect from Batman and that’s what makes him threatening. Every villain we’ve seen Batman beat, every contingency Batman has made. All of those we realize are also inside Owlman, except the difference is Owlman isn’t afraid to kill Batman who laughs relies on pure shock value to try and convince us he’s evil and dangerous while Owlman uses what we already know about Batman to convince us he’s evil and dangerous

The batman who laughs should not be an amoral Bruce Wayne. That is more the Joker who became the bat. The batman who laughs aka a jokerized Batman would be a bruce wayne who still keeps his morals in check, but will simply break villians morale and psyche. He would not kill, since that "ends the joke" , if anything he would simply become a batman that pushes villians to a breaking point that they want to quit, just so they cannot hear that laugh anymore. That said.. Owlman is amazing!

Owl man's logic doesn't work. He believes that every choice creates a new universe or something. That would first of mean an almost unlimited amount of universes. But he also believes there is always some other owl man doing the oposite. Destroying earth prime, would at least cause another earth prime not to be destroyed. And actually not changing anything. As all other people making choices would still create that unlimited amount of versions.

That's easy, the most simplified answer is Batman is the nerfed version of Owlman. No morals and with the help of his trillions, he's unstoppable.

The abyss is the abyss. I was with you until you misinterpreted what Bats said to Owlman. The “Abyss” as they both saw it was “the fact that nothing mattered.” It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme sure.. but he chose to understand that you can’t control everything. But you can help where you can. Batman formed the justice league to ensure his planet doesn’t come to an end. And most times it’s his strategic placement of the team is how they keep the world turning. That help out where you can became something larger that ended up saving the entire multiverse. Make no mistake Owlman is an absolute psychopath. His desire to control everything so nothing bad ever happens again is psychotic. Because him ending one cycle can’t stop it from ever starting back up. The planet will settle and reform, and life will begin a new and start branching. So what’s the point of temporarily halting everything so before you die you can say “no one is gonna out do me”. No one is gonna know or care what you did and you won’t exist to care either. I understand your veiw on owl man. However his logic is flawed. If in fact he knows that there is alternate decisions for every decision you make, then the possibility of a version of him getting it right has to also exist. I know that this is a cartoon created by writers and is not be taken seriously. But for the sake of argument, this possibility has to be explained and expressed too.
