My rattle-can painted, whiskey dented, rust pitted 1982 Checker cab gets more attention than any conventional classic on the road. I love that car down to the flaky paint and bondo cracks. And this video makes me feel good about the fact that there are like-minded people out there. :-)
I'm so jealous of you man, I would love to own a classic muscle but unfortunately I would go broke with it in my country with the gas prices. Anyways if I were you, I would leave it as it is, with that faded, old black paint and rust patches it looks so good, menacing like its been through a lot. You can feel how much soul this machine has. Keep it up man, and take care of it.
This car has definitely been through a lot. I love the way it looks also but I have seen this car like this my whole life so it will be nice one day but not any time soon.
@@Charger383Mopar Hell yeah brother, follow your automotive dreams, work hard and someday it will all happen. I've also seen couple of your videos and when I learned that it was your dads rt man, it was heartwarming. Until the next video, im eager to see the progress.
Definitely, enjoy it as is. It's a cool car regardless. Same situation with me and my 66 charger. It needs to be restored but I'm going to drive and it in its current condition while I stock pile parts I need for the restoration 👍
Black 1969 chevy impala looks fuckin road kill and man alot of people wanna buy it off me but no sir aint nothing like the smell of old car sound of an old car waking up in the morning sounding like an angry beast ready to take over the road 🤘🏼 AMERICAN MUSCLE nothing like it 🤘🏼
I have a 66 Coronet 2dr post 273 auto, driven daily to work, errands, road trips, anywhere.Love the Charger, these cars can be driven regularly and get lots of attention. I'm always getting questions and have great chats with people whenever I'm out driving around. I've always driven 60s and older cars for transportation so it's just a regular thing for me. These cars are rock solid, reliable, fun to drive and they beat the hell out of driving anything newer.
I can relate to this video I love the original look the perfect cars are boring no character I drive an old 56 Belair four-door we’ve had a blast in it!
Love it! I have a '77 Dodge W150 and I love the thing to bits, even if it's a rust bucket. I had to replace a decent sized rot hole in the cab floor, and I'm going to have to patch the bed in a couple of places. It's an old step-side though, so it's a great bed. Your videos of your D100 have been very helpful to me! BTW, love that shirt.
A 72 Polara was my daily driver from June 84 till about July of 87, when I got a 71 Charger. Got another 72 Polara for free from a friend in 91, and a free 68 Charger shell in December 91. The Polara's radiator, 400, and 727 went into the 68, and that became my drag car from 95 thru 98. Love those Polaras.
This makes so much sense! Great points and great inspiration :) Cheers! (I was gonna say that MAYBE I'd try to get at least the driver's seat fixed but then I remembered that I had a ripped driver's seat in my previous daily, drove it like that for 2 years until I sold it, so... nevermind)
Got me a 65 TBird with the ole 390fe in it. And people always ask what color imma paint it or ideas I have for the car( cars currently primered with slight patina) and I’ve come to appreciate its ruggedness and rough edges as is. It definitely carries some character, plus classics being the only cars to be able to pull it off so you gotta love it!
So right on !!! Nothing wrong with you're 68 Charger ..66 - 70 Chargers are bad in any condition !! Jed and Chris for a few examples ..enjoy you're great videos ../ greetings from Michigan .having our Woodward Dream Cruise Saturday..all y tube buddys would have a blast here !! Eventually maybe I'll meet one of you great guys in person / great 68 shes back on the road ..and that's sayin something !!! / Tom
Nice video man. Got a 69 Cutlass myself with the same bug catcher scoop as yours. You are right ratty cars get way more attention than ones fully restored. It was cool at first but it has been slowly getting annoying to the point that I only get gas at night lol
My feelings exactly. I've had a 68, 71, and 74 Chargers, 65, 71, and 72 Satellites, C bodies, A bodies, 4 dr B bodies, and 4 Sweptline trucks. I had my raunchy 68, just like yours, for 9 years. In 99, I got divorced, moved into an apartment, and lost my storage. I had to sell it. I've lost my mom, my dad, my wife, and all those cars. But the greatest loss in my life was my 68. I think about it every day and dream about it at night. I'm disabled now and broke. Had to sell all my Mopars in the last 2 years. All of them raunchy. I'd give anything for another 68, but I have nothing to give. I'll never be able to get another one, even a roach like yours (and mine) is probably 8 grand now. Life sucks.
Very well said man. There’s a 1968 Chevelle on my drive way, doesn’t look the prettiest but as long as it can get me from point a to point b and keep me on my seat I’m happy!
My '77 gets more thumbs up than enough it's in primer with a fender Painted cool thing is it runs awesome and shoots flames, plays 8 track tapes and doesn't mind the roadway and I love it
Great video good to see someone just like me.i have more fun and get more thumbs up on driving my 65 rusty bcuda then my shiny paint big block chevy.its alot more fun keeping the expence down and going to junkyards pulling parts throwing them on and going.love your car great video.
Just the look of it shows where it's been. All respected from what it been thru and that's why ppl respect this bueatyful machine. I enjoyed this video toataly agree what u said man. What's funny thou that I was thinking was by the time u get this restored and looking like a beaut u will be all grey and old, lol. It's like a twist only the charger gets to look young again. 😂🤣👍
I understand that fixing the car completely is a lot of time and money, but I would fix the rusted parts of the car to prevent the rust from destroying the car eventually, I had to use the word couldn't help it. Great video.
Sheeeit, I understand that the unrefined rugged look looks cooler than a mint pristine jewel that is garaged 364 days outta the year, but I would obviously take care of dat rust before it becomes too rotted out to drive, especially on something as precious as a 68 Charger. Rust never sleeps
Have you converted the back drums to disc brakes? My 68 has disc in Front and back have drums. And was wondering if the rear can be converted to disc instead of drums. Thanks
I'm actually watching the youtube video where you are changing the front drums to disc brakes. Im glad when I bought my 68 it came with the front disc already.. Im a contractor and i have no time to do machanic stuff plus don't know crap about machanic stuff.. My 68 in the shop right now getting new brakes all around. Lol
My 68 looked just like Roadkill's General Mayhem. It was in a Readers Rides feature in Car Craft, July of 98, page 93 as I recall (I lost my copy years ago).
but what makes it a cool to have a ratty car old school that they use to have such amazing body lines not all have that lol eventually ill fix my 1979 z28 too mine is all ratty as well
Ok nice car young man. But you need too contact ... Scotts speed shop , uncle tony's garage , chris birdsong at junkerup.. they love everything chrysler. And since you have mopar you can learn about them.
Jed at Scott's Speed Shop is already a friend of mine and I have seen Uncle Tony and Chris. I have learned a good bit over the years from friends and my own research.
Well I wouldn't consider my 91 f150 a classic butt I don't care if it gets scratched or dented and probably will never paint it cause I off-road in it so it really doesn't matter butt hey one your car and truck will look nice butt keep up them vids
Buy the looks of that charger it should be restored the doors are strait but if you let people dent them and you don’t care you are fucked get it redone get rid of that stupid scoop thing on the hood very ugly
