The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a $7 billion loan for Pakistan to assist the South Asian nation in stabilising its economy. Following its rise to power earlier this year, Pakistan’s new coalition government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), sought a loan from the IMF for the 25th time. On 12th September, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the country had fulfilled all the conditions stipulated by the IMF to qualify for the new loan. Subsequently, on 25th September, the IMF formally approved the loan.
