The 'people' are instead left to foot the bill and rot away in the slums of Corascant or the deprived outer rim. Palpatine showed Anakin the horrific poverty for nearly 90% of the population of the Republic capital itself. Do you think they were all paid actors in his employ? The whole reason Luke wanted to join the Imperial academy was to escape such a life. At least the Empire gave you options. and had no pretense of being a system 'for the people'.

Again that is true. But a Republic that does not enforce its own laws is worthless. The Republic condemns slavery but they still practice it under euphemisms like indentured service. And in the outer rim it is openly practice but they and the Jedi do nothing, so what good are they? As far as the outer rim goes, most of the Seperatists came from the outer rim because they were sick and tired of being treated like 2nd class citizens and having their problems ignored by the core supported senate. All the while what money they had was going to the Core worlds and the pockets of Senators and Crime bosses that prayed on them. Also on the Jedi what did he lie about? I am honestly asking. The Jedi claim to serve others but they do it from their nice clean Temple and as he said 'never go out into the real galaxy'. In the 1000 years since the Sith went into hiding, what have the Jedi achieved? Have the ended slavery, taken down the Hutts, brought peace to the outer rim, helped the poor on Coracsant? No? So what use are they? It is like Atton Rand says, at least the Sith are honest about what they fight for. And they are willing to take action to see their goals achieved.

However on the subject of if Obi Wan was ready to be a master, I would say he was at first not prepared to be a Master however he learned quickly and trained, and taught, and we'll raised Anakin well he also treated him quite well so all in all they were like a father, & son brothers and best friends and their close bond was known by most and to be honest had Obi Wan been their when Anakin told them about Palpatine he could have kept him from turning and Palpatine knew that, which is why Palpatine had the council send Obi Wan on a mission.

Palpatine was more of a naughty grandfather Oui Gon and later Obi Wan was a father figure and Obi Wan later again became like a brother to Anakin and bf. Something most people forget is that Palpatine knew Obi Wan and Anakin had a very, close bond this is why he was always trying to get rid of Obi Wan he even tried to convince Anakin to let Obi Wan die tbh that alone should have been a red flag to Anakin.

Clearing a few points before they're made: 1) Tarkin went against Palpatine's wishes with Alderaan's destruction. He was told to not use it on a major planet (or something along those lines). 2) When the Jedi went to arrest Palpatine, they didn't actually have any concrete evidence. Just a few words from Anakin and one "Bad Motherfucker", so technically, *it* WAS *treason, then* 3) On the topic of Palpatine's attempted arrest, "Being a sith lord" wouldn't really be a crime, now would it? Say all of a king's knights were all devout Christians. The king rules for a long time and his reign improves alot about the kingdom. One day, however, all of his knights accuse him of being a Satanist and attack him. Yes, a lot of people may not LIKE what he is, but is that actually a written crime? No. In short; #EmpireDidNothingWrong.

Corristo89 The Jedi did trust Anakin he was the Chosen One however during the Clone Wars Anakin began showing dark and alarming traits that made many of them hesitate to fully trust him however Yoda did trust Anakin and of course Obi Wan did too very, very, much in fact and as for Mace his attitude towards Anakin started to changes as Anakin showed dark traits and he could also see shatter points in the Force he knew Anakin had very, dark and conflicted side this, is why he began to mistrust Anakin.

Dark and alarming traits, such as reacting like a human being to the horrors of war and the deaths of people close to you. And of course the Jedi responded to this by treating Anakin like a naughty schoolboy. I guess compassion doesn't come easily when you believe in a doctrine that forbids passion.
