Your right about those points I just don't care to mess with pc gaming I'm glad you like pc gaming. The Xbox series x is with me Besides Microsoft is going towards the pc road. Pretty soon they will not be making consoles or need to. Its already getting that close to those days. Microsoft is a software and computer technology company so they have the power to make the Xbox gaming brand full pc essential if they wanted to and probably will Thst something sony will never do. And thats all truth Be great

@@JayPatrol lol 😂 that’s funny. Yeah man I was a die hard Xbox gamer my whole life. My other “console vs PC video” describes this a little more. The whole reason I switched to PC was because of Microsoft’s support for the PC platform. I like making my gaming machine mine. I like making it themed and personal. So a PC allows me to do this. Plus I get to keep playing my favorite Xbox games. It’s a win/win.

Pc gaming is not for everyone especially the average consumer are not going to buy a pc for gaming like people in the pc gaming community this basically for those that want a gaming pc and build one. But to the average consumer will just own a regular computer and maybe a game console. And most people don't care to play a game on a keyboard Pcs are nice but i myself don't care to game on a computer.

I have actually moved away from PC gaming recently. I have been a pc gamer for more than a decade but fell out of gaming over the last year or so even though I have a fairly decent gaming laptop (for my work). My issue is that I do programming for 8-10 hours a day and after I come home, I don’t want to even look at a PC again. I recently purchased a PS5 and it has rekindled my love for gaming. The greatest benefit is couch gaming. Sitting in front of my TV with the option to instantly get on with game is a huge bonus. I’m willing to pay extra for games if that means I have the convenience of not worrying about frame rates or graphics settings and instantly playing my game. Another factor is that not everyone lives in the US and the PC parts market has gone to absolute trash, especially for Europe where we have to pay 20-30% extra plus higher VAT. This would still be digestible if the state of PC ports wasn’t so bad these days. Also I’d rather pay Sony extra money than use the absolute horseshit that is Windows (more than I already have to for work). Windows is a huge pain in the ass and I don’t want to deal with it in my free time. I get that you are trying to make a case for PC gaming but it’s not like PC gaming doesn’t have any downsides. There are real practical advantages that consoles offer besides first party games, which is why the PS5 has sold more than 50 million at this point. People are willing to pay for convenience and consoles offer exactly that, convenience.

I've been using PC and consoles and the points I usually don't see are "stability" and "user friendly". Since consoles are mostly used for gaming, you're two actions away from getting in your game. Games are locked at a specific frame rate to have a stable experience, on PC you need to try different configurations for your specific hardware; I love doing all the troubleshooting on PC and becoming better and better at using my PCs full potential, but that's not for the most casual gamers
@Thornskade
@Thornskade Год назад
When I was a kid I was also two actions away from getting in my games. Realizing that I could tweak settings and make my own configurations came way later, I didn't even know what options menus were. I don't understand where this idea comes from, casual PC gamers don't tweak, they just start a game and play like a console user. This stuff is optional, not forced. PC games are also usually just put at a low, medium or high config depending on the hardware the game detects and framerates are usually locked to your refresh rate by default, i.e. 60 fps or 30 fps (depending on game performance, double buffering is the most common option games use by default) for the vast majority of people. It's not like there's zero optimization here
@manameisjeffie656
@manameisjeffie656 Год назад
that's what i like doing sometimes, when it's to ez to play the game for 45 min and get bored, but when i have to configure and suffer to find fixes for performance i usually stay hours doing so, which brings me the most fun even when playing the game at a lower FPS
@XxViperMortalxX
@XxViperMortalxX 9 месяцев назад
@@ThornskadeNah man, my last console was a ps2 so i have been a pc player for very long, and let me tell you it aint rly that optional. On pc most games are not really that well optimized and some are even complete trash on optimization, meaning shitty or subpar performance on a quite powerful pc. And most games dont offer a easy experience for optimization, on xbox or ps5 you choose framerate and play... On pc you need to open a fps monitor, check which preset offers a stable performance and maybe thats it, if you run into stutters you gotta search wtf is up, if its vram usage, ram, cpu, drivers, if its the game, a specific setting maybe, etc... There is also micro stutters, crashes, errors, updates messing shit up, file corruption, things of which if u unlucky enough might rly fk with ur enjoyment. Honestly not a pc or console is for everyone... You gotta see what fits u. Pc is good if u have the money to build a very powerful one, and u can also get games for insanely cheap. Ps5/xbox series are good if u want something cheap yet powerful, and a more relaxing plug and play experience. There is also handhelds, like the rog ally, steam deck, legion go (just to name the big brands), which offer much weaker performance than a console or even a low budget pc, but offer a portability and chance to play short burst that no other thing can come close, also its great for ppl who travel a lot. Really not one of them is the best, but the best for your use case scenario/what you want
@Thornskade
@Thornskade 9 месяцев назад
@@XxViperMortalxX Again you're describing things that are completely optional. I spent my entire childhood on PC and literally never tweaked any graphics settings so I know full well this is not and was never a necessity. This is double think where when a console game is poorly optimized, stutters or has low framerates you just accept it because you can't do anything about it. On PC you can do something about it, but to claim it's required is blatantly false

For me it's the reverse, I went from PC to console. My PS5 just works, the games just run, no crashes, no constant driver updates, no errors, games just run 99 percent of the time and whenever a new game comes out I can just buy it knowing it will all work by just putting in the disc with no more effort. As I got older, sometimes I just wanted to come home and turn on my system and play games, not tinker with settings not do constant debugging, not worry about drivers, controllers and headphones suddenly disconnecting, not to mention the various problems with windows itself. And then comes the cost, especially in a 3rd world country like mine, for me there's absolutely no comparison, console all the way, cause I just want to play games at the end of the day, and Playstation also has great exclusives for which I won't have to wait years for a PC port which is not always guaranteed, also so many bad ports come out on PC, developers clearly put console first, and also most online games that people play these days are free like Apex, Rocket league, warzone and fortnite and for these you don't need to pay for ps plus, also you can buy pre owned discs and sell your discs to save money, I bought ragnarok day 1 and sold it in a week after completion getting back 90 percent of my money, also I can pin youtube videos and other stuff with my game on screen on PS5 seamlessly maybe research before saying we can't? The hardest part is getting over that initial hump of the price on PC. Once you do that, you quite literally open yourself up to "unchained" gaming with no limits (unless of course, devs do that for you unfortunately) You can certainly still keep a console around if you prefer like I have done but every day I look at it and realize it's been months since I've used it. Some corrections I’d like to point out. 1. Free games like Fortnite don’t require a subscription service to play online, however needing it for paid games still exist. 2. You can shop on gamestop & easily find a physical copy cheaper than you would on pc which prices are heavily dependent on when the platform decides to lower it. Additionally, Walmart tends to do $10 off for new game releases. 3. Unsure about xbox however the ps5 allows you to put RU-vid, your friend’s broadcast, and apps to the side. Every other point I agree with fully
@ErockOnTech

1. Is correct today. That was not always true. But noted. 2. Physical games are cheaper eventually. But that takes time. Pre-orders and day 1 games are still cheaper on PC 9 times out of 10. Plus, less and less people are buying physical media. If you have a Xbox Series S or PS5 digital, physical media prices don’t help you. 3. Xbox does not allow for this. This is the first I’ve heard about the PS5 doing that.

Another thing about PC is that you can run emulators and play any console only game you want. I made my own game files from games I've bought back in the PS1 and 2 days. With the right stuff you can even use retro controllers to play your retro games. If you have retro pc games you can easily set up a virtual machine with the OS that ran those games in the past and play them pretty easily.

Grew up with consoles and PC through the 80s and 90s. Owned most major consoles through these years (apart from SNES, which wasn't very popular in UK) and I was lucky enough to have a shared family PC throughout this time too. Last console my parents got me was the PS2 in around 2001. Then, I purchased my very first gaming PC around 2004 (pentium 4 beast😅), which I mainly used for strategy games like Rome: Total war. By the time I got a PS3 my PC was a bit long in the tooth for newer games so I switched to just the PS3 from 2007 to about 2013. Then I got back into PCs again and would build a new PC every 3 years or so. I was very happy with my current Rig and I still am, a 3080ti paired with i9 11900k. But then I played The last of us Part 1 (remake) on PC and fell in love with it so hard for a second time, first time was on the Ps3 back in 2013. It made me want to play Part 2 so much and im not willing to wait 2 years for it to be ported to PC. So I purchased a PS5 last week and TLOU2 (ps4 version). Can't believe I dropped over £500 to play a game😂. To be fair, I have since purchased a few ps4 and ps5 exclusives that you can't get on PC yet. So it's not too bad. Shadow of colossus remake (owned the original on PS3 but never played it, Horizon Forbidden west and Ghost of Tshumo to name a few. Best of both worlds I guess.😅

I have a hard lined custom built PC and I still prefer the console experience. One always over looked point is the OS. With a PS5 there is one thing to update, no driver conflicts no multiple games stores to manage, no odd things running in the background, etc. Turn it on, play. The steam deck (which I also have) is the closest PC experience to this because it doesn’t have the hot mess known as Windows running in the background. I don’t need the maintenance. I wish the gaming PC offered this and hopefully SteamOS will make it happen someday. Sony may be the first company to crack VR into something desirable by the masses with PS VR2, not because it has the best stats but because they will have the developers the PC is missing to make engaging games. Lastly, the best controllers are always developed for consoles and later used for the PC and the PC often doesn’t integrate haptics as well as a console does. It’s not all roses for PCs. :)
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Год назад
I agree about the controllers. I game primarily on PC but I used an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. I love it. I also used to think the same thing about the OS. When I first came to PC, that was one of the things I missed the most. But now I understand why it’s not like that. You can turn things off in the background on windows if you really want to. You can run a slim version of windows that has all the bloat removed. It’s called Ghost Spectre and it’s quite nice. I would recommend checking it out. You can also just use Linux. But there is less than 100% game compatibility. So be aware of that. Consoles have the OS they have because they are locked down. It is a closed system. PC is an open system. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

The problem that I have with the PC vs Console debate are the following: - It really depends on your PC setup. If your PC lacks a graphics card or its an older PC, it may not be better than console. - Is it true that you can build a better PC than any console, yes. Yes, you can make a PC more powerful than any console. And if you do own such a PC then YES your gaming rig is better than console. - Playing on a PC is like playing the game on the developers computer. Of course its going to look and respond better. Your playing the game on the most ideal machine there is. So PC blows console away here. - Ease of use. Console takes the cake here. You just put in the game and its guaranteed to work. You can't beat that. PC's will always be more complicated to set up and run and operate. - In my opinion, console is for the everyday person. My friends sister can go buy a PS5 and put in a game and have fun, but she doesn't know how to build a gaming PC. So gaming PC's are the special case where if you really want the superior experience and want to feel like your playing the game on the developers computer, then PC is the way to go. - In my mind, a PC is the machine you use to MAKE the game. A console is where you publish your game for the mass market. - There is this debate one which one is better. Let me make it clear there is no debate, you can make your PC 100 times better than a console so of course it will be better on PC than console. But this only counts if you have a bad ass gaming PC. I have a 10 year old laptop and I promise that my laptop is NOT better than console. - I like consoles for the ease of use, the specific game libraries, and because I prefer a controller compared to a keyboard and mouse as well as the user interface and all of the other traits a console has to offer. - I like having a bad ass gaming PC because you can do basically anything you want on it and its a beast and can run almost anything.

The console experience dwarfs PC in both value and convenience. Arguably the most important aspects for most gamers. When you’re gaming on your sofa, you don’t need to be able to build a resume or write code… you’re there to game. No the performance is not as good, but it’s 70-90% identical, in some cases faster, and a hell of a lot cheaper. “PC is cheaper over time”. Not only is PC better than Console, but Emulation on PC has made it even more attractive. You can play Older Classics on a Modern PC, enhance the Graphics with Emulators, sometimes you can Mod the Games & play with your USB Controller of preference. I did some light PC Gaming when I was younger, but the drawback for me was having to use Keyboard & Mouse for Games. That's all fine if the game calls for it [ie: The Sims, Age of Empires, World of Warcraft, etc.] but when you're used to Console Gaming, I missed that Controller familiarity. Some of my favorite Console Games weren't on PC, so I had to choose Console to spend most of my time on. Nowadays, you have so many options how you want to play on PC, most Games are released on PC & Console, but PC's are just more powerful, they will be better, it's just smarter to go with PC nowadays for a do it all Gaming Machine. Ever since I got into Emulation & moved my older Games over to PC, I haven't even touched my older Consoles, there is no need to. They look better on my PC with upscaled Graphics, my 4K Monitors & I can save as many Games as I want due to Hard Drives. You can save Gameplay pretty easy, take Screenshots, use Save States on Emulators, there's just a lot more options that you could not do on older Consoles even if you still wanted to play them in current year. Plus I think PC Games get more Deals for Sale than Console Games ever did. And there's just so many options to choose from on Steam, it just doesn't make sense for me to use a Console anymore. My last Console was a PS4 and even that one I played way less than my PS3 & PS2. I just have 0 ambition to get a PS5 & beyond. I don't think I will ever be on a Gaming Console ever again. PC Gaming is expensive, it's not as "Mobile", but the Pluses for me outweigh the Negatives, it's not even close!! And yes, you can do more Computer based tasks & Multitasking like you mentioned as well. Just way more Features & experience on PC!! Keep your PC up to date, buy great Hardware, take care of it, make sure everything is working correctly, and you'll have a rocking do-it-all machine for a long time!!

But nobody cares if the machine is powerful or not. What real gamers care about is play the game. So it doesn't matter how and where you play the game. All that matters is that you are playing the game. And having a powerful machine does not make you a Master Race. You are still a flesh and blood being with no real power.

I upgraded my gpu from rx480 to rx6600, and the result did not quite live up to my expectations, and I had to force myself to upgrade my cpu as well. @TortoRacoon

I understand the advantages, but I wouldn't put the price as one because a PC with the same capabilities of a console is substantially more expensive. If I am wrong, I would like to be told so with the link to an amazon or online store because that is the main thing that keeps me away from going back to PC, I spent a lot in mine and what I needed to make it run the games I wanted to play was higher from just buying an Xbox One (the features you talk in the video of "having a pc" such as making a resume, watch Netflix, etc. you don't need a Gaming PC to do all of that, and PC to do so is actually very cheap, making it able to play games is what sucks the green paper out your wallet). I know this depends on preferences but sometimes you don't want any of that and just want to play games without having spend a fortune.
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Год назад
It also depends on what you want in your gaming experience. If you have to have 4K, then it’s going to be expensive. If you are ok with 1440p or 1080p, then that will save you a lot of money. My biggest issue with consoles are the limitations. If you want more, there is nothing you can do it. If you want less, there is nothing you can do about it. You are stuck with what they give you. That’s not always a good thing. Look at the Xbox one X. Great opportunity for consoles to take advantage and fully master 1080p 60 fps. But instead, they tried to do 4K. That resulted in a 30 FPS experience on almost all games. 30 fps is unacceptable. I’ll entertain arguments about not seeing a difference between 100 fps and 90 fps. But there is most certainly a difference between 30 fps and 60 fps. Now with “next gen” consoles, we still have games releasing with 30 FPS. It’s not as often thankfully, but still it’s ridiculous when it happens. PC is full control.

The only argument for having a gaming pc, is if you have shitloads of disposable income and are obsessed with 120 fps or more and maxed out graphics and can’t live without those things. Mods are great but don’t justify the cost in my opinion. It’s this simple for me… the ps5 has pretty great performance and pretty darn good graphics and devs are designing games with the console in mind most of the time. For 500.00 plus tax and about 140.00 for a couple of games, 40.00-60.00 per year for ps plus, 70.00 for a second controller, your tv you already have adds no cost, or spend 500.00 for a pretty decent 4k tv… what else… that seems pretty set. Buy games used and wait for sales and never have to pay full price too. That vs at least 1500.00 for a strong enough pc build to handle the newest games, a monitor is extra so whatever that costs, paying for windows separately, buying a controller for games that work better with it, the hassle of configurations to make everything work right, possible viruses… and so on. Even if you are using the pc for all of your computer needs, it’s too expensive. Just use your 300.00 laptop for regular computer shit you probably already have. No argument for me. If I could afford a PC for gaming and the best consoles, I’d have all that shit for sure. But for the money, Console is the easy winner and for me, I am a PlayStation guy.

Hey I’ve come to realize PC isn’t for everyone. If you don’t want it, I won’t try to convince you. Objectively, PC is superior and therefore it costs more. It’s that simple. I do admit it could be a little cheaper. It used to be cheaper. The last couple of years have really messed things up. So I hope in the future it gets cheaper again. I don’t care if you don’t want a PC. That’s fine. But I do care about your first sentenced. There are plenty of reasons to have a gaming PC besides 120 fps. For me, I like the control I have. Consoles are locked down. You have zero control over it. You can’t do anything with it except turn it on and off. I love customizing my PC and my setup. Also, I’m adamantly against paying to play online. That is such a rip off. Lastly, no, I don’t need 120 fps. But I do need at least 60. Even the newest consoles still release games that are only running at 30 fps. That is absolutely unacceptable to me. But like I said, PC isn’t for everyone. So to each their own.

So let me do some math for you. You mentioned 300 laptop. And yes most people do indeed have laptop or cheap pc for basic use anyway even if they only game on console.And the cheap pc for basic use are usually around those 300 bucks. That counts for total cost too! With ps5 thats already 800 total. For online play you need to pay for Ps plus is which 60 per year. One console generation is around 7 years so 60 per year x 7 thats 420. Plus 800 thats already 1220. You can already buy a decent pc for that price. But thats not all. As mentioned pc games are indeed cheaper. In fact you can save 20 bucks per game on average on pc version. Lets say you buy 5 games per year(if its more than it will add up even more).Thats 100 more per year for buying games on consoles. Over 7 years times 7 thats 700. + 1220 were already close to 2K which is a price of already amazing pc but then again you dont even need to spend that much to get a decent pc. And even if you wait for sales on games for consoles the pc versions are already even cheaper by then. Games on pc go for sales way sooner and for bigger discounts.For the record gotham knights was released on october and was already for 30 bucks during steam winter sale (only 2 months after release). Also you dont need to buy completely new pc with every upgrade. While gpu is the most expensive component followed by cpu and motherboard and those are what you go for when you upgrade but you can still save some money by keeping other components isntead of going for completely new pc every time. PSU can last a decade,you can keep older discs for more storage etc. So if I look at it in the long term pc isnt even more expensive unless you go for the best of the best and upgrade every 2 years which is absolutely not necessary. So even if new pc was for 1500+ it doesnt need to cost that much again on the next upgrade. Which will further lower the total spendings in the long term over the years. And if I add up paying for online on consoles,more expensive games + a cheap pc which you will probably need anyway for basic use and internet browsing the price will easily even out or might end up being even more in the long term.

You forgot to mention, with PC gaming you have emulation, including Nintendo Switch emulation, so you can play Nintendo games on PC. So PC is the only true backwards compatible platform. The Xbox Series S has some good emulation capabilities too but you can't emulate everything that you can on a PC, that's why I switched from Xbox to PC last month. I bought a pre built PC from Amazon that already had a good CPU and RAM, so I just upgraded the graphics card and it's been great. I regret spending so much money on games for Xbox because I find those same games on CDKeys for so much cheaper on PC. and like you said, most PS exclusives are coming to PC, so it's becoming pointless to own a Playstation.

Repair should also be noted as one of the reasons. If your computer breaks down, it's easier to repair it, you just replace the broken part, compared to a console. You can't do it on the console as they don't sell parts and the only way is to take it to service, which is for a few years.
@Wooksley
@Wooksley Год назад
I never once owned a console in my life and I’ve been gaming on pc for like 25 years. Let me tell you the main issues with PCs in my opinion: 1. It’s pricey if you want a decent experience and downright expensive if you want high-end stuff. I spent 3 grand on my current rig compared to 500 bucks for PS5. 2. Prebuilt market is a pile of garbage and it takes knowledge and effort to build it yourself. Preferably you have a friend who can do it for you or guide you through it. 3. You have to jump through hoops to play on a couch. It can be done but keyboards aren’t really designed for it and you have to mess around with somehow connecting it to the tv, or streaming the output of a pc to a tv. 4. Sometimes something just borks and you have to fix it yourself, which typically involves a lot of googling. It doesn’t just work.
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Год назад
That is a fair summary of the issues for PC. I would slightly change points 3 and 4. For point 3, it’s not hard at all to connect a PC to a TV. You simply connect the HDMI cable from the GPU to the tv. It’s exactly like a console in that matter. As for the couch part, well, that depends on your preference for input. I use a Xbox controller. It’s wireless. It works flawlessly. It’s just like when I used it on the Xbox. But if you prefer mouse and keyboard, then yes I agree. Couch gaming is massive pain. As for point number 4, I agree it doesn’t just work. It’s not as simple as a console. This is correct. However, as with all things, the more issues you fix, the better you’ll be. What I mean is, eventually, a user will just know the right settings to change, when to change those settings, and how to fix various problems. Eventually, a user can fully learn how to properly optimize and tune his/her PC to run near flawless. The issue here is time and effort. The user will have to be willing to learn. Consoles are so locked down that a user has no control. So it has to work out of the box. You’re completely right about the prebuilt industry. My goodness, those PCs are bad.
@Wooksley
@Wooksley Год назад
@@ErockOnTech well, couch gaming could be as simple as that if your pc is physically near your TV, but that’s not what I was referring to. I’ve got my tv in a separate room and I’ve had to set up another pc low power PC near my TV, install KODI on it and set up steam to stream the output of my main pc to my TV over Ethernet. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly. And I don’t think that’s an uncommon problem.
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Год назад
@@Wooksley but if you want your PC on your tv, why not just move your PC next to your TV? Is it because of looks? You could also just build a small form factor PC with enough power to play the games you want on the couch. This PC could be dedicated for the tv for those times you want to play games on the couch. That’s how a console works. The console is next to the tv. Am I missing something? Maybe I’ve misunderstood. I just don’t quite understand why you’re complaining about a PC not connecting to a tv as simply as a console. But a console requires you to place it next to the tv. But you don’t want to do that with your PC. It doesn’t seem like a fair criticism to me.

Windows have come a long way when it comes to ways to play your games. Many PC games come with controller support now. That was not the case 10 years ago. The original Mass Trilogy on PC didn't have controller support at all. It was only thanks to the modding community that we got it. Long live PC mods. One BIG but though. Greedy publishers are trying to kill mods on PC 😡 What we also see now is portable PC systems like the Steam Deck. You can even plug it into your TV and use it as a console if you like. And they had a lot more exclusives back then. You also didnt need to worry about any updates and you would just insert the disc and instantly play. Now you have to install the game even if you have physical disc version. PCs back then also didnt have controller support like now and even when you bought a decent pc it would become obsolete only in like 1-2 years. But now its different. That’s one game. And you mentioned physical. I wager most console games are now bought and sold digitally. Yes, physical is still an option. But less and less people use physical. The evidence is easy. GameStop has been struggling for a while now. Why? Because less gamers are buying physical games. The cheaper Xbox and the cheaper PS5 are both digital only. That’s why physical games are so cheap. Because no one is buying them lol. Lastly, while cheaper, it’s also pointless to buy physical. MW2 2022 literally had less than 1GB of data on the disc. It’s a physical license key at this point. A glorified paper weight that you have to store somewhere in your house. The majority of the game is downloaded online. On average, as a whole, the majority of gamers buy digital copies of games and digital is cheaper on PC. There are exceptions to the rule like Nioh from time to time.

@@ErockOnTech "That’s one game." There's several examples of this. Dark Souls 2 and 3? Cheaper Physically. Ni no Kuni 2? Cheaper physically. Ace Combat 7? Cheaper physically. Final Fantasy VII Remake? Cheaper Physically. Sonic Frontiers? It's $40 physically, and $60 on Steam. Steam sales being cheaper than console games has not been true for years. Publishers have more control over the prices of games on digital stores they're not going to drop prices as much as a vendor who's trying to eliminate stock. "Yes, physical is still an option. But less and less people use physical. The evidence is easy. GameStop has been struggling for a while now." GameStop had been struggling years before Covid. It's just a badly managed company. "Because less gamers are buying physical games. The cheaper Xbox and the cheaper PS5 are both digital only. That’s why physical games are so cheap. Because no one is buying them lol. Lastly, while cheaper, it’s also pointless to buy physical." Physical games are not pointless, and having less options to acquire games isn't something to celebrate. Digital only gives publishers too much power. If I wanted to buy a Japan-only game like Dragon Quest X Offline. I could just buy the physical copy of the game on Amazon and play it on my console without the need to make any extra accounts. Obviously, I can't buy a Japan only game on an account that can only access the NA store. But what I wanted to buy the game on my PC? Well, I can't because access the Steam Page for DQX because it is region locked. And do you remember the PS3 and 360 release of Scott Pilgrim? The game was removed from the online stores of those consoles, and it was a big deal back in the day. It's as if people have memory holed the fact that these games can be pulled out off of these stores for any reason. Physical preserves games in a way that digital games cannot. And this is a big deal for systems like the PS4/5 and the Switch which get Japanese only releases. "MW2 2022 literally had less than 1GB of data on the disc. It’s a physical license key at this point. A glorified paper weight that you have to store somewhere in your house." The "that's one game" argument is more applicable here than the idea of physical games being cheaper. The vast majority of physical games, even on modern systems like the Switch and PS5, contain the full game data on their disc and carts and can be booted without any internet connection. DoesItPlay1 keeps tabs on the amount of physical console releases that can be played without any Internet access, and cases like MW2 are a minority.

What is happening is physical games are dying. Digital is the new standard for better or worse. And when speaking on the most commonly purchased form of video games in 2023(digital), yes PC is cheaper on average when compared to console. That’s really all I’ve got to say about it. But we can agree to disagree. It’s really not a big deal either way.
