Why people are choosing to live in INCLINE VILLAGE, NV

Incline is the most bizarre mountain town in the US. First, it's a bastion of conservative leaning Jews from LA and the Bay Area. Second, the beach is PUBLIC. It's owned by IVGID, a governmental water and sewer district. Because of legal chicanery dating back to the 1960's, IVGID restricts beach access to property owners during the summer. Third, Incline is policed by the Washoe County Sheriff out of Reno, and is used to train patrol deputies. Traffic stops are frequent, and often made without cause. Deputies live in Reno and are often rude to Incline residents, who are too few in number to influence the Sheriff's dept. in Reno. A few years ago a deputy beat up, injured and sexually assaulted a young woman who was paddle boarding in the lake just off the family's lakefront estate, allegedly because she wasn't wearing a life vest. Unlike the genteel community-focused law enforcement in Aspen or Jackson Hole, the Washoe County Sheriff's Dept. is a paramilitary organization armed and trained to battle with the harshest gangs and meth heads in Reno. They are not any kinder to Incline residents or visitors.

Incline village is unaffordable.
