I moved in 2017 from NY and I definitely see the difference of the influx of new people. My thing is, if you're going to move here from a big city please don't come with the same attitude, adjust in a more positive way.

Yes. People are mistaken thinking this is 1990 and they can move to Raleigh with no money.

I moved out Raleigh in 2010 and resided in Clayton until now. I still like Clayton, it is closer to beaches, and it's not too far from where I work in RTP, I still can make to work within 1 hr.

The government sector of careers needs to grow. A million dollar house in Raleigh that's not a mansion? Why? Raleigh is nice and all, but that's crazy inflated

Raleigh was like a big city with a small town feel to it when I first moved here. I am a transplant from the mid-west and I relocated to Raleigh in 2015. At that time, I was so in love with the Raleigh area. It was not too crowded and the housing market was fairly reasonable which allowed me to purchase many rental properties. Before Covid, it was easy to find afford homes, in great condition, for under $250K. Now, it's all ruined!!! The home prices are "ridiculously" expensive and the traffic is horrific. It's impossible to escape the construction all around Raleigh-Durham area. Every place you visit is overcrowded but there is still so much potential in this city. It's my home now and I have no plans to leave ❤ For new comers, consider Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Rolesville, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Clayton, Garner, and Briar Creek. They are all good areas with easy access to the city.

Agree on Southern Hospitality going away sadly. I experience microagressions instead almost on a daily basis. Take it easy people lol.

It is not cheap to live in Raleigh. If you are not financially stable, you will struggle in the area. Traffic and long commutes are getting worse, too.

Both Wilmington and Raleigh have been ruined by the influx of population from Northerners and Californians for the reasons you listed in the video. The more that arrive the more they ruin the culture and opportunities they came here for, And us locals lose more and more of what we have loved about our home.

I was born and raised in NC and there’s NO WAY I’d spend $1,000,000 for a house in Raleigh. The next housing collapse is going to catch a lot of people upside down in these mortgages.

Great video! After living in San Diego, DC, Houston, New Orleans and a few other great cities, I'm incredibly thankful to have bought my first and forever home an hour east of Raleigh in Rocky Mount. Back in 2019, before SHTF, I found a great neighborhood near the few things worth going to, on a decent golf course, .3 acre lot, just under 2,000 sq ft for under $150K. Everything gutted, remodeled...brand spanking new. And back when rates were low. I had no idea back then, having always rented, what I'd actually found. I imagine those Raleigh long-timers looking to leave might make it as far as Nashville, but Rocky Mount is too old school and hokey for most people. At least we're on the I-95 corridor and have Amtrak going straight up to DC/NY/Boston and South to FL. If you can afford NC, it's a lovely state.

We left Durham because it was too expensive and we heard gun shots from gangs every week. The driving was dangerous as well.

I'm one of the locals moving away. It's sad what is happening to the area. It no longer feels like North Carolina.

Good video but there may be more reasons. Statsic shows that between 2018 to 2023 over 4.2 million came to NC but more than 4 million left this state. Charlotte was the first and Raleigh second to gain population.

People are moving to the suburbs. Specially now with so many areas getting better infrastructure

I’m leaving Houston next year and I’m looking in and around the Raleigh area…tired of the hustles and bustle and road rage, traffic and crowds..even tho im sure there is traffic but I’m sure it’s not like Houston…I just wanna relax

It is almost impossible for younger people to find starter homes. No one is even building them anymore. $300,000 for a condo or townhome is not im most people's price range. Same with older couples wishing to downsize. No smaller homes available or reasonably priced.

Its a great place to live lived in Cary, Zebulon and back to the DMV. apple is a gift and cures

We're in CA and planning to move to Cary/Apex/Holly Springs next spring. I grew up in a rural area, and although I've been a Californian for more than 10 years, I would love love love to live in a place where i can chat with my neighbors, and my kids be able go in and out of our house with their friends. The Raleigh suburbs are so much more affordable than SF suburbs, and i think the education is much much better in Cary/Apex. CA has become too woke and expensive. The only good thing here is the weather.

Wish they would leave Wake and JOCO. Was a great place pre 2018 and Apple, Amazon, and Meta ruined it. It's not the traffic, no one knows how to drive, there is zero reason for the traffic. People cant merge or use off ramps. It's a little city, that is it's charm. We don't have the infrastructure for the boom.

Raleigh North Carolina is my home , I moved out of Raleigh because Raleigh is not all that a place with people with bad bad awful attitudes , I moved to Las Vegas Nevada and I Love Love Love it here in Nevada Beautiful Beautiful ❤ Place , I bought a Beautiful home with no Problems 👍👍👍👍 Very Happy I left North Carolina ,

I’m in the Midwest and it’s a buyers market, it has finally switched its looking like the 2008 time now. Homes sitting for months to a year. For sale signs everywhere and open houses. Unless your home is top 1% best location with home style top notch it’s not moving. It’s still not the best time to buy, it’s just starting it took until 2010-2011 best savings. War, new president issues, depression still on its way with dollar losing a lot of buying power. 2025 will be the year to wait and see. Plus the boomers are in their late 60’s and mid 70’s that will need and have to down size their homes or assisted living in 10 years or so.

Hmm...are they moving because of the horrible drivers?? Something needs to be done about it. I see reckless driving daily in Raleigh. People going way over the speed limit weaving in and out of lanes. It's terrible! I have never seen anything like it. Even when I was in Vegas. The drivers here are worse.

Another reason people are leaving the Raleigh area because they move it to Charlotte because I got a sports team. Another reason people are leaving the Raleigh area and moving to Charlotte is the skyline. Raleigh Skyline look like a suburb. If they can't afford Charlotte to go to the South Carolina area.

People move out the city to live a better life…… not because of affordability. Living in a city sucks and dangerous
