you voted it won, the History lesson on gladiator is now out and i hope you guys enjoy. this one took a lot more work because half of the clips i had for glad corrupted and that meant i had to play more for honor than normal :(
i tend to speak on things nobody else talks about, idk why its always me. when sohei came out i was one of the first people in the scene to go "this actually sucks" and then everyone else followed through days later
I always hated how safe he is on his side bash and zone, it’s truly one of those things that you have a high chance of getting hit by no matter what you do as an opponent
His side bash is guard break vulnerable. It's no safer than just throwing a dodge light. For his zone, you just have to dodge than block. You don't have to parry.
glad has one of the worst bashes if not the worst ever. not only does it not confirm anything but it also has an insane recovery time for a move that confirms no damage. i think i get caught by a gb after a bash as glad more than any character ever
The wallsplat skewer doesn’t do 65 damage: throwing the opponent into the wall stops the full bleed effect, making the max damage 49 (21 bleed + 23 heavy + 5 haymaker)
I will say as a rep 80 gladiator, I feel his downsides like crazy, love the character but I don’t know why no one talks about his deflects against hyper armor characters, you can make the right move but the guy who’s brain dead and just throwing heavies still gets the hit
I got so fed up with this character that I learned to react to Toe-stab and Zone, subsequently learned that I can react to Sucker Punch (side dodge bash) as well. Fighting the character always felt obnoxious and it even was more so when you could chain from Sucker Punch on whiff. Ever since that universal change it's felt better to fight them, but I cannot play Glad for the life of me.
As a gladiator player I must say its true his skewer wall punish is very high but you can't do it everytime. You would'nt see the beautiful victory pose he does when you commit to the bleeding.
Yeah, I’ve been maining glad recently and I agree with pretty much everything. I have a hard time fighting gladiators, but also have a hard time playing them, most due to their weak openers and over reliance on 35% gambles. They are quite fun when they work though.
I hear people complain about Gladiator a lot, but I love to fight against them cause they're one of the easiest heroes for me to battle. I don't know if my maining Shaolin/Orochi has anything to do with that, maybe it's just a favorable matchup.
No offense but something I notice you do is stumble over your words every now and then. You can slow down homie, you have the privilege of being able to edit those clips out and replace them. Not something I care about but I know sleezebags will jump on you for it once you blow up and get dedicated haters. Less to rag on you for I guess idk I want to see you succeed. Fellow warden main and all that
im sorry you think that way, shinobi has the same fundemental playstyle as a character in dark souls 3 where i can physically dodge in place to avoid the weapon doing any damage even tho its being slammed onto my head. if you dont have an undodgeable a shinobi wins 80 percent of the time
Gladiator has a special place in my heart for being what an assassin should be. Huge damage and punishes (that are more difficult to get) solid mobility, extra flashy and as a character he’s very unique to play overall. Holds up great minus a few things imo
His punish isn't 65 damage because you have to throw him before all the bleed is applied. It's actually closer to 50, which is still high, but not as crazy.
i like how a lot of the shit they outright removed they always give to other characters, conqs old softfeints went to Valkrie and the stamina bully and unbalancer went from Jorm to Gladiator
Hi, some people may know me, some people may not know me. I have played glad to rep 70, reached highest mmr and all that, recently played in Beans 1v1 tournament. While you are correct about a lot of things there are some issues that I would like to point out. Glads biggest reason for viability since release was zone OS and the fact that you couldnt GB his heavies. Since then of course OSes got removed (well not exactly but lets just pretend they dont exist) alongside the standardization of moves that are 700ms no longer having 100ms of GB vulnerability. Glad basically lost all tools that made him strong. Sure he got compensation buffed but the buffs were nowhere near his previous power level (before those nerfs in s7-8, glad was considered top duels pick due to his safety. The changes to chains and all basically meant that char will never be at this level due to reactibility of those moves. He had his period in the 4v4 meta where toe stab didnt give bash revenge which made him automatically strongest ganker, but after that was removed char kinda disappeared. 2nd issue is that the wallsplat punish in dominion wont ever reach the numbers you are saying if opponent isnt getting deflected while OOS. You cant get full skewer and do wallthrow. Max damage without haymaker is 44 and 49 with haymaker. Of course by no means low but not the level u were saying. Not to mention 2 shadownerfs made to character that were discovered by me: www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveForHonor/comments/bmssh5/gladiators_stamina_has_been_shadow_nerfed_from/ www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveForHonor/comments/pmxkw9/gladiators_zone_shadownerfed_again_now_it_deals/ Overall good vid, correct points character is very unfun to play as and versus.
If you skewer against a wall, I'm pretty sure theres a 1 frame window for max skewer damage plus the bash. This isnt a big deal either way imo, because if you manage to land a skewer against a wall and nail a 1 frame punish then you deserve 65 damage tbh
@@lostkin4910 there isnt, otherwise it would have been listed in infohub punishes or be known, i have never heard of it. Can you provide source, please?
Feel free to tell me I’m wrong, but I also don’t like the fact glad gets a dodge bash and a dodge attack. Baiting him to dodge and then having to make a 50/50 read whether to dodge yourself or parry is so annoying.
Alright. As a Glad/LB main, I can tell you that Glad's neutral heavies do track MUCH better than how they're animated. His neutral is funny because its mostly just turtling and spam feinting neutral heavies until eventually toestabbing and chaining because I have infinite stamina.
I find him more annoying to play as even tho he’s my fav character. Many people just dodge my poke attacks and I can’t combo, and my side bashes feel so slow and people react as if I’m telling them ahead of time that im going to do it. His wall punish tho is very annoying when fighting. It’s a step above max punish, and basically beating a dead horse after it’s preformed. He needs more slashing attacks so people can’t just dodge out of any poke combo.
Glad has always been the most boring to play, right next to pk, relying on cheap and desperate playstyles to do well, glad has bash mix up spam and pk has bleed mix up light spam, nothing else, no other character playstyles are valid other then bitch, same reason I stopped playing hits is because heavy + bash every 2-3 business years isn't skillful it's just bitch, raw bitch, then it completely loses viability at all at high play levels and the character falls out of use until it's time to make some worse players feel bad. Glad sits at f tier for me in fun, mediocre D for power
Now speaking from the "if IRL" perspective, his deflect should be able to go throw hyper armor, but he should probably get the base dmg of the parry up and its bleed decreaced. Now for the extream skewer to wall splat dmg, it might be a bit to much, but remember dodging away from glad destroys him completly and he relise on the enemy to make a mistake. It would be more practical to even it out (decrease the skewer to wall splat dmg and give him smt to fight dodging) but that would just get rid of his flavoure.
Im a gladiator main always been and yeah its just stressful, you can't complain as him because of the toe stab but you're not having that fun everyone else gets with their moveset i wouldn't mind the bleed being a bit less damage if it could just be able to land more times atleast, and the worst thing i hate is i cant say that anything is bad because of the character but i know that he doesnt have much to go off. still my favorite along with ocelotl but he deserves a buff to be able to hang with characters like hito, medjay, afeera, and orochi because those 4 are the biggest dumb brain characters and playing as Gladiator against them just makes me want to log off and go for a jog and then look at my toes as i do so.
Glad is a weird hero. We all know he is not strong, reactble etc etc. But it's so fuqin annoying to fight, 10 faints before toe stab, bashes, toe stab again, more empty bashes, more faints before toe stab
as a glad main its not that we want to do that its just the moveset is terrible and we go against heroes like medjay who just hyper armor our skewer when we clearly earned the right to get the bleed then we get killed after that because they can just nonstop hit us with bigger damage than the bleed wouldve done so we learn adjust to it and well thats the only way we can win most times. I dont want to be bullied over and over and over again
@@cubical1510 no worries man, i know it's not glad players are annoying little fuqers, it's hero himself xD. I know some glad mains in person and they are nice guys, but the way they play... uh, disgusting
Most based FH channel. Most of the FH community that talks are just the sweats who look for any opportunity to call someone bad and try to put them down for stating things they find frustrating
yeah glad has had a rough go of it when it comes to his changes and the games overall changes. him not being able to follow up after a whiffed bash and being GB vulnerable to boot was something that hurt him the most, being an indirect change. I can not wait to see what you say about valkyrie when its her turn, that is a very strange rabit hole to dive into.
valks gonna be a fun one to say the least, i myself enjoyed "old" valk but i think what truly ruins her for me and the community are people who just utilize her full block and nothing else. its an easy counter its just boring to say the least. which sucks cause valk has a lot of cool tools that get overshadow'd
I feel like before he got reworked he was decently fair to play against and pretty fun to play as, I got 10 reps with him, I never play him now because he is boring af now and more annoying to play against, there's literally no mixups anymore, they just spam lights
Y'know what is funny. Glad has the light dodge attack but in today I think everyone forgot it exists and uses only dodge bash which is so easy to dodge and then punish. Meanwhile on the dodge light attack you can't punish it (if you're not expecting it) because right after the attack you can go light again or heavy. And yet people still choose the wrong option. Comedy isn't it 😐
Not really, people are much more used to a dodge light and is more easily parried, and the main reason the bash is better is that you can't immediately dodge out of it, guaranteeing a skewer or heavy. I agree his bash is pretty bad, but not a lot of casuals in dom or duels know about the missed bash guardbreak, and you can't GB the bash off startup. It also interupts hyperarmor and basically people are much more used to parrying dodge attacks and aren't used to bashes. Also MUCH better for skewer mixup.
@@bubblesthegeckoo the dodge bash doesn't guarantee a heavy you can always block it. And with the skewer you can always throw light to interrupt Gladiator. Plus the dodge is slow so after Gladiator use it 5 times in a battle you definitely will dodge the next time
If the person you’re fighting on glad is decent, then you don’t really have a choice, you have to use toe stab to pressure them to do something, otherwise it’s just an uphill battle.
As a certified glad main all I’m asking for is hyperarmor interrupt on skewers and a bash that confirms damage, and maybe a undodgeable delayed top heavy
One thing that frustrates me about Glad is the fact that if my Hero doesnt have undodgables i basically lose automatically His dodge frames on his light makes it nearly impossible to catch so you have to block or parry it And even then he can just simply do the side dodge melee that for the most part confirms a 30 damage heavy for some fucked up reason. It feels like No matter when i decide dodging it, i still get hit anyway. Then theres toe stab catching dodges at times too. One thing i hate doing is spamming Zhanhu's undodgable Zone to catch Shinobi's who do nothing but side dodge roundhouse and Glads who side dodge light/Punch.
Spamming undodgeables against Glad is a really bad idea because they're so easy to deflect. It seems like a good idea but it isn't. But Glad's bash doesn't confirm anything at all. The weird thing about his dodge bash is that it stuns you long enough that you don't have time to dodge the heavy, so don't try to dodge. Just block it. And you'll block it successfully every time. It's seriously frustrating, playing as Gladiator when you dodge and bash someone and can't get any damage off it at all. It just feels like wasting time before your target's team shows up to help him.
@TheUnmaker28977 in my experience, I hold my guard to the heavy the entire time after dodge bash and my guard either stays away from it entirely or I don't have a guard until it hits.
i love playing flashy like kingmisty in duels but when i pull up in dom and i pick glad you already know what im about to do. i pick glad specifically to piss off my enemies bcz they piss me off first
Only thing i find more frustrating then glad is this for honor content creator called raptorrex. I dislike that fellow to a very large degree! Thank god i choose to watch this channel instead!
his dodge bash is what annoys me the most bc if he only uses this and not the dodge light there is no way in punishing him for misreading except flipping
If you get hit by hyper armour after deflecting then your enemy made the right read, not you. It's like saying that you dodge attacking and then getting hit by a hyper armour follow up is you getting punished for making the right read. Same mistake, different timing.
You're not wrong, but the reason why it's bad on glad vs other heroes is that all other heroes trade for their full damage on deflect into hyper armor but Glad gets gimped and tickles the enemy instead.
Not at all, if a raider does a stunning tap and i deflect it as orochi i win cause i made the right read if i deflect a raider stunning tap as gladiator i made the right read and lost
@@NotY0urHeroo exactly. Everyone else atleast you got your deflect off. You might take a hit a second later but atleast you can trade it. With glad it straight up stops him entirely. I feel like his should also be a interrupt deflect like orochis. Like a trident in your belly should stop you from moving
@@RAPTORREX_ Why do people go to the enemy spawn zone, when our team spawn zone is capped, and I’m the only one going there…? Why don’t people see the importance of our spawn zone…?
@@Haiden_Sekiro_Arc because your average dominion player has a brain smoother than a cue ball, without a shred of knowledge of how the game works. Along with there only brain cell activation being along the line of "I see bad guy, I kill bad guy"
