I gave up on curing it after simping for Hakoda, Tonraq, Toji Fushiguro, Minato namikaze, and other fictional dads. Then came silco I'm in between regretting nothing and everything lol
@avatarglader922 I DON'T have daddy issues but bro Toji is SO FREAKING FINE! I'm so glad I found a fellow Toji simp haha. And um yeah I think I'm crushing on Silco now too hehe
I know Silco wasn’t a good person, but he loved Jinx more than anyone else in his life, and I think that’s the thing many fans envy. Unconditional love is something we are all hard-wired to crave, especially those like myself who grew up without any kind of love. We see it on screen and it hurts in a way that’s hard to explain, yet beautiful to watch all the same. It feels like salt poured into a re-opened wound, and yet we love it.
While some parents will put their well-being in danger to sustain their offspring, it dulls out over the years, and becomes nearly intangible over time. But... An insanely small number of parents will burn to the ground their life-long and almost completed dream, for their children. It's a shame, truly, but it's also reality. Among so many, many, many, other things, and let's list a few, such as knowing what hurts his daughter (the table scene where Vi keeps talking, and only Silco noticing how much damage that does to her psychee), the absolute trust that he has for her (allowing her to inject him, while she is so clearly unstable), the unquenchable love he has for her, to name a few, all define a god damned amazing parent. Is he evil? Yes. Should he be sentenced to death for his horrid actions? Yes. Was he ever, at any time, anything other than a great parent? No.
Reasons why i simp for Silco 1:Daddy 2:perfect voice 3:smart 4:has a soft spot (shows his care for jinx. Aka the only person closest to him) 5:Cacluative 6:classy Those are the Main Personality traits on why i love him. !💖❣
@@frostspork6930 Only that he made that world. The undercity was never safe, but Silco canibalized his own people's well being to enrich the oil barons that would fuel his power. He didn't need to teach Powder to blow people up while laughing about it. She was never a murderer, she was a child who made a mistake while trying to save her family FROM SILCO. Why romanticize an incredibly toxic relationship? You're gonna snap something while reaching for a "hE rAiSeD HeR tO SuRVivE" interpretation.
It’s so cool how jinx is the only one who doesn’t fear silco and is also the only one who is JUST AS SCARY AND UNPREDICTABLE as him. It really shows that he raised her
@rayanna7188 If she was like him she would be sane and have some empathy for those around her. The only one she actually loved was Silco and maybe her sister other than herself. Also a fun fact she was designed a female version of Joker so do with that what you will.
I think that Silco does his best to be the best possible father figure to a rebellious adopted teenager of an undercity crime lord. While being highly manipulative and weird but thats beside the point
The thing I love about Silco is that he doesn't crave power for the sake of being powerful or famous or rich. He wants to be in a position of power because he genuinely thinks he is the best person to run/free Zaun. And he WANTS to do a good job he wants to earn independence from topside, he wants a nation without poverty or corruption and he's genuinely willing to put hard work and time toward those goals (we can see him often sitting on his desk reading papers and stuff). He doesn't want to be in a position of power for the sake of it like some topside council members, but because he NEEDS to be in order to achieve his goals which are actually quite noble. Not gonna say he went about it in the best of ways or that his extremism was good, but his goals were quite deep and understandable.
I really don't like when people say that he isn't a good father BECAUSE HE IS 😭 He is a so much better father than alot of healthy none mentally scarred people 😭
Well, he is an interesting character that, for a considerable amount of time, you can't figure out what he is going to do next. So, he easily gets our attention. After that, we just have to look at his display of power in subtle yet brutal ways and also the fact that he is quite handsome in a non-hegemonic way (when he was tied to the chair with his hair a bit messed, well, let's just say that we didn't need Nami at that time to get things wet). Vander was a leader and from that came his power. Silco is a ruthless idealist and a good manipulator that does whatever he needs to achieve his goals and that is what makes him earn the obedience of the people around him. And let us remember that a man with power tends to be hot.
Huh? Everyone recognized that it is indeed weird... it was even deliberately made to make viewers uncomfortable said the creators. Maybe the community saying “it makes sense” because Jinx is still a child stuck in an adult body (hence why she sits in his lap) made you think we did not find it weird?? Well... you're weird o.o
@@hinnyu7748 pfft, I have seen so many takes trying to justify their relationship as not weird it makes me genuinely happy to see someone acknowledge it. Infantilizing Jinx? No thank you. She plays at being a child. She is not actually one. That's literally what the show is telling you when she uses the baby voice to attract and kill half a dozen enforcers in ep4.
@@melina_0455 no dude, the creators of the show literally said that she mentally is still a child, she's mentally stunted due to her trauma. That's why she acts like a child. She isn't pretending, that's just how she is.
@@stuffynosepatrol "Please help... It hurts... I'm a helpless little girl and I set the building on fire, by accident, totally by accident. Also I brought this bomb. Goodbye." Dude, she *plays* the baby but she isn't one.
@@melina_0455 she played it up that one time so it imediantly means that the literal creators of the show are wrong? They make it clear that she is mentally stunted and will sometimes pretend to be innocent to lure people into trusting her more, but that does not mean that she is not mentally stunted. Also, your other comment about Jinx having a thing for Silco is gross as balls dude, seek help.
Fair It didn't. But I feel like Silco went through his near death emotion change to do it again would be weird story wise atleast. I can't wait to see my 4 counting boy in anytype of show tho
@@gappy9574 I don't think people are saying it's him. I think they're saying they give off a similar vibe. I personally don't see it besides them both being skinny and are both suave in their own way.
the thing about silco and jinx’s relationship is that it is a loving one, but definitely not a healthy one. i can see how this relationship gets a lot of praise because he is supposed to be a big bag but is gentle with her, but even though the relationship is filled with love it is not enough to be a healthy or good one. silco is clearly manipulative, telling her that her sister abandoned her and manipulating her to rely on him. i’m sure it’s not his intention to use her constantly as a weapon, but unfortunately that’s what happened. even though his love for her is strong it can’t take away from the fact that he killed her dad, initially tried to kill her, and made her rely on him so much to the point where she can’t trust or love anyone anymore.
Everything about him screams mafia boss. Perfect villain. I love how jinx is nearly the opposite from him (punk teen appearance, explosive, cute face) but they match so well due to their cruelty and cunningness.
Silco industrialized Zaun, made it economically independent, built an unofficial military force capable of withstanding at least for a while a Piltover attack. Kept tight control over his Piltover cronies. Made so a lot of people lifted themselves out of poverty. If this guy is a villain. Then world is f up beyond recognition.
He did what was he thought was best for Zaun, but the methods he used weren't exactly ethical. From what I know, Shimmer was originally created for healing purposes. But the impure/cheaper variations Silco's empire produced spread addicions and even deaths on some cases. Everyone respects him, because he is ruthless and merciless. He is in a position of power directly because he would do ANYTHING to obtain it. It's a fine line between villainy and heroism, but there are still shades of gray in between. I think we can condemn a person for their actions while still acknowledging their good side, flaws are what makes us human
Well unlike a majority of villains. He actually cared for Jinx. Although he did help make her a killer and certainly didn't help her psyche. But most villains would've betrayed Jinx without a second thought. But in Arcane people can't have nice things.
That's the problem Silco is someone who is willing to do anything at all to achieve his objective. The reason he inspires that loyalty is not only fear but the fact that a side effect is people around him are generally better off. He might not be noble or soft hearted as Vander but they had the exact same goal the only difference is Vander would not pay the price that silco was prepared to.
Weirdly this time I didn't simp for the "villian". I did however go from "Silco is evil" to "maybe this is what Jinx/Powder needs? Maybe he's not a bad person and he's just complicated"
All of the "parents" in this series have a certain charm to them. I feel like the theme of this whole first season was all the dreams of the last generation failing to come to fruition and falling on the shoulders of their children.
A man doesn’t always have to be ripped physically or be super strong to be attractive, it’s how he Carrie’s himself that’s what makes an attractive, even seductive man. It makes him incredibly sexy.
CAN I CALL HIM "CREEPY DILF" BCUS THAT'S WHAT HE IS!!! HE REMINDS ME OF UNDERFELL SANS WITH MAFIA OUTFIT AND HE KINDA REMINDS ME OF MY SENIOR YEAR TEACHER SINCE SCHOOL TRANSFER (NO JOKE)
I simp for Silco because i see myself in him. -A revolutionary fighting for independence, freedom, equality. -An entrepreneurial businessman who is also a family man with an adopted daughter. -Has a british accent -always smartly dressed, even in his sleep. -super skinny yet tallish and strong -into science/chemistry -needs special eyedrops 👁️👁️ -relies on the women in his life for literally everything lmao P.s. he was kinda like my comfort character, but he's dead now, can a comfort be dead?? All i feel if grief and mourning 😢T_T
I think the whole ‘Is Silco a Good Father’ debate hinges on the idea that all bad fathers hate their children and people cannot grasp otherwise. Silco so obviously loved Powder/Jinx, but he was not good for her. He projected his own trauma onto her and actively discouraged her from seeking healthy coping mechanisms, also mistakes he’s made for himself. Just because he wasn’t abusing her and didn’t fully recognize what he was doing was harmful doesn’t mean he was an amazing father, he wasn’t.
Him not being good for is not the same as him being a “good” father. He tried multiple times to help her through the series but unfortunately, between how his trauma jades his view of the world and the fact that he doesn’t actually know how to effectively and correctly help her, he ends up making certain problems worse. But to be fair, unless you’ve done some reading up or are trained in psychology, it’s hard to really understand the best ways to help someone else whose struggling with mental illness. I think the baseline that people see is his desire and willingness to help her and support her and in that sense he is a good father but as we all know, good intentions can’t replace the required knowledge to truly help those with mental illness. So, I agree with the idea that he is a good father via his intentions, but he is still an awful person otherwise and he does more harm than good when he does try to help jinx. But last thought, I think that goes back to the idea that for parents there’s no book that tells you what exactly you need to do for your child. You simply do the best that you can and sometimes your best isn’t actually good for the child or gives them what they really need. I guess it’s like the saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
Short answer: People in general simp for power. People always idolize what they dont have. In todays world the gap between powerful and the common people is growing larger. Therefore people simp for power, any power, even if there is a moral option, the respondible idol, selfish, corrupted or if you dare say evil is easier more tempting. So much more tempting depending on how much is it used against you.
Dude this comment is creepy af… they have a father daughter relationship, don’t make it sexual :/ If you’re talking about her sitting on his lap that’s obviously supposed to show how she’s mentally regressed to a child state because of her trauma, not that there is some creepy sexual relationship between her and silco.
@@FirstnameLastname-zq8oy People should find some kind of evidence that she's regressed to a child other than "she likes to climb and draw on people." Dude, she's traumatized, not a child. SHE PLAYS THE BABY, but she's not one. That's literally what the show is telling when she uses her baby voice to attract enforcers and violently murder them in ep4.
