It’s always a good day when Peter Parker talks camera tech. Thanks Spider-Man! For real, though, thanks for the breakdown. Been looking into buying these LUTs
Just Hit 1k Views!! thanks so much for the outstanding support guys!! MUCH LOVE! Edit: 3k....oof this is crazy EDIT: ......19k woah...woah... EdDIit: 29k please stop this has too many views!!
I've been pretty under impressed with these Luts, everyone talks about them like they are all the range.. they are cool.. not worth the price I paid for them though..... great video mate! you wouldn't happen to know how to convert them to a Rec709 Lut? and/or how to get them to work with a monitor like the Feelworld Lut6 for viewing? Always causes an error.
@@researchproject034 I just think they are overpriced. They are good, but Should be 20 bucks imo! And in my experience, you always have to fine tune, and sometimes even start from scratch to get the colors the way you want it. Specially for bigger productions with a lot of footage.
Hey Ahmed! thanks for the support! So every shot in this video was shot on the Sony A7Siii. oh and the background music throughout the entire video is "Lunar Glow" by Ookean. i think its on epidemic sound
a have a sony A6700. Do his luts work? im kinda confused. Can I just buy his sony ones and use that? Or are they A7S3 specifik? I know I can install them, but will colours like as intended ?
no you can't, and tbh I would recommend doing that if you could, because you still have to adjust exposure white balance and just overall correct the imag
Could this theoretically work on the Sony A6300 if I used the right settings (Basically use the same settings like Slog3 and Cine3 that you would otherwise use on a Sony A7)??????
Not entirely sure since I don’t have that setup. However I do recall the the Sony a6300 doesn’t have the full 14 stops of dynamic range required for slog 3 so if you do want to try out these luts, I would make sure you get the “legacy” version that supports slog 2. They are meant to be used with pre a7S3 cameras.
Thanks so much! It’s nothing super special, I just add a multiband compressor with the preset in premiere pro titled “broadcast” and then I tweak it from there.
Bro how you exposed this luts and the lut called thungstend at wha iso do you take that video in the night and how you get that sharpennes? Is the a7siii or the lens that you used ?
Micah thanks for this information and video. I intend to purchase the Sony A74 and maybe two of them or the Sony A7S3 alongside the Sony A74.Going to use the Phantom Luts for these camera's. Also the Panasonic S5 and Panasonic S1h and Panasonic gh5s to use with the GHAlex lut.
Hey JD sorry took me so long to respond to this, unfortunately Joel only sells the luts compatible with Sony, black magic, and arri Alexa cameras. He doesn’t currently have any support for canon.
hey! so all of the shots of me talking i was using the Cinebloom filter by moment. just made a video about that btw (shameless plug)XD but for all of the example shots i did not have the filter on, so no mist filter on those.
Overexposing slog3 is bad because you lose 2 stops in the highlights and you destroy skin tones, skins look horrible with yellow and pink spots. So with these amazing new sensors, i would follow his suggestion to expose normally, saving highlights and skin tones using the intra 10 bit 4:2:2 codec
Hey mate, ive just started shooting slog 3 this week and rying to understand it... I use gamma assist, with these luts, would you rec that I aim for 0.0 in the exposure metering instead of +1.3-2.0?
I think it depends. For outdoor day scene, normal expoaure is better, since you wanna protect those highlights, and there are few dark area in the frame. But for night scenes, there are few highlight spots, and those tends to be strong light source anyway, so overexposing them is fine, by overexposing a bit, and bring it back in post, you are getting cleaner shadows, which can cover large portion of the frame in night scene.
Sorry for the super late reply, I didn't see this :( honestly I can't remember, I think I just downloaded 35mm film grain and overlayed it on my footage. sorry :((((
I cannot tell if it's a RU-vid thing, but when you say "you really can't tell a difference" on the card sheet clip, there are several colors, including cyan, that look as though they need to be denser and with a bit more saturation. If that's the case it's fine, but if you're buying a $50 LUT that is exclusively billed as a 1 to 1, than you really shouldn't have to tweak it up much after purchasing. Just my thoughts.
Hey! thanks for watching my video! sorry for not elaborating on this further. So Joel states you don't need to overexpose with the new sony sensors (FX3 & A7SIII) simply because of the low noise floor. I think this makes sense, however, when you are shooting at higher ISOs (take a night shoot for example) I think it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to overexpose by +1.7 Stops. to reduce the amount of noise in the shadows. while the new sensors are extremely clean, they still fall apart at higher ISOs. so again Bright shoots at base iso (for a7s3 and fx3 is iso 640) no need to overexpose. for darker shoots at any iso higher than 1200 id say overexpose by +1.7 stops
Hey, thanks so much for watching my video! Actually, for that look I am using a moment Cinebloom filter I actually met a RU-vid video about it here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g3fG__Hzg-0.html
hey Jeff! thanks for watching the video! so all the shots that are showing off the luts are not using a bloom filter, however the talking head shots are all shot with the 20% Cinebloom filter by Moment. looking back at it, i definitely think its too bloomy. i think I'm gonna pick up the %5 cinebloom filter
@@MicahPowell it’s all good-stick with your style. I wasn’t judging. I’m just beginner learning. I’ve got my fx3 on order… I’m hoping to put your tips to work soon. Thank you!
@@jeffwongdesign Oh no man, I didn’t think you were! That’s awesome I freaking love the FX3 it’s a amazing camera! I bet you’re excited to get that! And these luts are really great for beginners as well!!
@@MicahPowell yah. Very excited to get the fx3. A little intimidated. Hopefully I can learn how to use it and start making some better content. I’ll check out the luts.
