Why pipeliner and pipeline welder look for to pipeline layoff. Pipeline welder, Austin Ross explains why he enjoys being laid off. Austin and Kayla try to prepare for layoffs so that they aren't stressful and so they can enjoy them. If you are going to work pipeline you will want to save and possibly have two income streams. Diversifying your income can really help when pipeline work slows down.
In this day in the life of a pipeline welder, pipeliners wife ends up pulling the camper home because Austin Ross pipeline rig needs repair. This is our pipeline life and we hope you enjoying getting to know about the pipeline lifestyle. Watch this video if you are pipeliners of America or want to be so that you can see what it is really like to travel for work and chase mainline pipeline.

Your layoff is more like the part of the job completed. And moving on to the next thing. With the railroad, whne we layoff. It means we took time off work about can also mean layoff like everyone else knows it. Really enjoy your chanle. I was welding pipe in plants and such and really wanted to chase the pipeline. But started railroading and the story continues lol. So seeing you, gives me a little visual inside.

I was talking to a gf about getting ready to ask for a layoff when I was on the road working (moneyed up and needed some time off after working like a fiend), she worked for the county, she about fell out of her chair and could not get her head around wanting to be laid off. But when it's time to go, it's time to go.

I travel all year long with the Railroad Industry. Also live full time in my RV when working. I can relate about being giddy when driving home & pulling into town. We aren't at the financial freedom, yet, to enjoy the "Layoff". Hopefully be there soon. However for now, if there's work, I'm working. I'd love to participate in your Podcast if I had time. Be cool to add some diversity with ya.

first you are braver man than I! I have seen too many serpentine belts shred in a matter of minutes, done mechanic work off & on over 30 years, also do you know for sure it was only your belt? but any wobbly pulley can cause shredding, which usually would be a bad bearing, & seen the harmonic balancer walk on the rubber ring causing belts to shred, just things to watch out for. and always take a before pic of belt, to always know how the belt is routed, as sometimes can go on several ways, but might turn something wrong direction, for example the water pump, & could cause overheating issue, or belt slip without enough engagement on some pulleys, which could be alternator causing charging issue, power steering pump, AC pump, & yes I have seen a lot over my life. Kayla if you want to talk to someone different, I am a Biker, and for a living I am a professional meat cutter, been a florist, and been a mechanic & auto body repair, & juggling around those all my life, 1 of them as a full time, the others back & forth part time, for over 30 years, now burned out & needing change & wanting to pursue pipeline, always loved welding, but never did it as a career, other than trailer building & repair, but welding has always been something I love doing, along with fabrication, but never messed with pipe.

Im a red seal welder, underwater welder, redseal steel fabricator and redseal pipefitter from Canada. Never underwater welded in the USA though, only did some pipe jobs in Texas and erected some recycling facilities in north carolina. Have some crazy stories about underwater welding on offshore living quarters, offshore oil rigs in Canada, and underwater welding in Manila which is probably some of the craziest of stories. Have some stories from when I was coming up at home building a arena and going up 86feet on a I-Beam with no tie on, no harness at all, just counter balancing the beam.
