Oops, sorry, this came out like 24 hours later than expected. It's up now, after months of research and searching, I think I have found out why Pit cannot fly with his wings. This is just a theory, that is of video games, which may or may not be inspired by binging MatPat's Game Theory and Film Theory show. Although, truth be told, this idea originally came from my ex, who was convinced that Palutena was a totally controlling bitch, so it started off with seeing if the relationship between Pit and Palutena was abusive, and although some parts did fit, it wasn't concrete enough to definitively say so.
Altering the theory a little, I then though that Pit had Dependant Personality Disorder and Palutena had Munchausen By Proxy Syndrome, which fit better than the last theory, and was almost the focus. Then I saw something in the Japanese version o the game and that alone turned me to something to what I find a more sound theory, which I hope you watch the video for.

I'm sorry for the poor quality of the game and changing camera angels, recording a 3DS and then playing it it really awkward, and a capture card for the console is like £300, so I did the best I could.

Another thanks was to Gesh86 for his very informative play though of Myths and Monsters for the Game Boy. I had to use his footage because recording with emulators wasn't working and the controller kept bugging out and sometimes it lagged for no reason even though this is a pretty powerful computer and everything was going wrong and I hope he doesn't mind xP

But it actually is pretty interesting if you just want to know what this unappreciated gem is like, even if it's way too similar - and easier - than the original.

Kid Icarus and all relating characters/graphics/music in the series are owned by Nintendo, and it's a game I recommend you play if you're a huge Nintendo fan. Kid Icarus was always my favourite - if malnourished - Nintendo franchise, and I was really excited to see a shiny new game come out. Okay I'm going to stop rambling now, you earn a cookie :D

According to all laws of aviation, there is no way Pit should be able to fly. His wings are too crippled to lift his tiny little body off the ground. Pit, of course, flies anyway, because Palutena doesn't care what "Canon" says is impossible.

According to Palutena's guidence in Smash she is able to give Pit the power of flight using some kind of psychokinesis

Great theory. I totally agree with about 95 % of it. I just don't think that Pit lost his memory. He just doesn't talk about it. It'd be embarrassing for a track runner to admit that he/she broke his/her legs during a victory lap--the same applies to angels and their wings. This explanation would also give reason as to why Pit never asks Palutena: Why can't I fly on my own? and why in the SSB4 Palutena's guidance Pit asks Palutena: Have you noticed that I can kind of fly on my own a bit? He's holding onto hope that his body will heal. As for the rest of the theory, I've always thought that this was the case. If angels were commonplace then why would Medusa keep Pit in her dungeon in the beginning of the first game? Why aren't there more angles in Skyworld? Answer: Pit and angels in general are extremely powerful rarities. This also explains why Viridi has recruited Dark Pit into The Forces of Nature (explained in another Palutena's Guidance for SSB4) Your theory is spot on in my book. Great job.

In hindsight, if Pit lost his memory, then why would he refer to his wings as defects in the Japanese version of the game, or get super defensive about it in the English version? My bad on that case. Pit, according to the manual of the first game, cannot fly because his wings don't work. Basically a nice way of saying "His wings are too small, he was born this way. It's a defect." It was the reason Medusa spared him, she didn't think he could cause her any problems. The angel's feather simulates the act of flying for a short time, so that pit could escape danger. Pit is the only angel left because Medusa turned the rest to stone or killed them outright. The credits were the credits, a mini game, a reward for playing. Trying to use them as evidence holds no ground. The line about talking about his disability has nothing to do with Myths and monsters. The line would sooner refer to pit's wings not being able to make him fly in the first game. A disability refers to any form of physical or mental handicap, not just those sustained in an injury. Myths and monsters was never used in the story because Japanese players would only see the game a month before uprising release and it would confuse them. Using only the first game made more sense, because everyone would have had the chance to play it before uprising. The power of flight only lasts five minutes, you contradict yourself by saying they don't and showing us the scean where his wings burn up. You base the theory around an extra moment famous in the games made by Sakurai, you can always shoot the credits in his games. The gods need his trust to activate the power of flight. Palutaina can do it at any time because pit has undying faith in her, while Varidi was able to do it because at the moment he only wanted to fly. Pulse he never really disliked varidi, she was super misguided in his eyes, but he understood why she did what she did. The video was a good idea, but you need to have better facts to support your ideas. Over all it wasn't a bad theory, but there was no good evidence to hold it together. Kinda a year late, but I hope you continued to make videos, because they aren't bad, just need work.

Could you cite the page that says that "Pits wings don't work"? This is the first I've heard of it and maybe I just missed a stray sentence. In any case, they don't say why they don't work, which is what this theory touches on. Or it symbolises the lack of growth of Pits wings, and shows more feathers = more flight. Just saying it was magic would kind of mean it was like a mini-power of flight, but you can use the feathers over and over so it means the power of flight isn't limited to 5 mintues over extrapolate over extrapolate. Yeah, Medusa spared Pit and killed the other "warriors" (page 6) which is what the manual refers to. Pit was the commander of Palutena's army, and as far as we're concerned (or some other citation to prove otherwise), the force of Palutena's army were centurions, which were winged beings weaker than angels. Although, it's a bit of a moot point, because I don't see how Medusa would kill off the angels then want one for herself in Uprising. It's a moot point about the credits, because you can last more than 5 minutes before that section with the charging up the laser. If someone loses their ability in their legs, they would need a wheelchair to move about, that's a disability in that they can't walk physically. As Pit can't use his wings, because they "just don't work", as with someone in a wheelchair, I would class it a pretty serious disability for an Angel. And the lines matched up nicely, so I linked it to what happened in Myths and Monsters. Canon or not, you really can't deny that it matches up nicely, even if it is entirely coincidental. I showed the scene in the last Aurum chapter to show what lengths Palutena would go to keep the secret. Not sure if the trust thing is entirely on board, or just an assumed thing. Did you have citation on that front? For me, the reason they don't just use the Power of Flight is because of a carefully constructed Daes Dae'mar, which being subtle is the way forward. "No good evidence", isn't that a little harsh? You are the one limiting what I am showing with the release date of Myths and Monsters, which the release date in itself is not part of the Kid Icarus universe. You're saying that an angel that can't fly isn't disabled or handicapped, when flying is pretty essential to having wings, so throwing that out of the picture is removing the evidence I have currently. Just because you can argue against it doesn't mean it isn't evidence, you just need to bring your own evidence to the table to show why I am wrong. I appreciate you watching my videos though, and I'm glad some people just don't take a theory as complete word of god. it annoys me when people act like some theory is actually canon because they like it so much. I'm just up for speculation on the "What if" and going from there. Oh, and I like make 1 video per year if that if I continue at this rate. I'm actually thinking of one as a sort of retrospective on one of my childhood games.

Zircron Swift Shit, sorry I was working on something. Sorry for the late reply. Page seven of the manual. I brought up the disability thing for a dumb reason. I brought it up because somewhere in my mind I thought you were referring to it soly as something with injury and not that he was born that way. I think I did that because in the original manual it did say he couldn't fly and the thing with the sun in Myth and monsters was both a reference to Icarus and comedic. (Just look at it, that was done for a quick laugh.) But yeah, that one was complete stupidity on my part, I don't know why I thought that you wouldn't know that. I brought back up the credits and the last scene because it seems pretty clear that it was done for theatrics, and for the sake of a fun ending. I mean they have pit pilot a mech in the last stage after all, seems like it was just sticking with it's out there yet fun roots rather than something to apply a loop hole. No good evidence was harsh, but the evidence supplied was rather loose. Trying to relate the one line of dialog to myth and monsters without any real grounds was a bit of a stretch. Lastly, it was a pleasure to watch. I might not have agreed with it entirely, but I did enjoy myself. It is nice to discuss these things every now and again. Theory is theory after all, needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but always fun to hear. "What if" scenarios are always the most entertaining. Shame you only make one a year, but I understand, life gets in the way of hobbies. What game did you plan to do for a retrospective?

For the manual, I looking up a scanned copy of the NTSC version online. Can we confirm we're looking at the same version? www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Nintendo_NES/manual/Formated/Kid_Icarus_-_1987_-_Nintendo.pdf Page 7 just talks about Pit being captured and being a valiant warrior. I don't think it really implies anything about his wings. Thank you for the criticism. The retrospective might be on the Megaman Battle Network series for the GBA, but then again it may not simply because of all the footage I would need to take.

Ok. How about when fighting Hades in the level where Hades eats Pit? In that level, Hades breaks the 3 sacred treasures. Now survive his attacks for 5 minutes and see what happens.

Darkpower508 it's cause his wings are made of wax, so he needs divine powers to shield his wings from the heat while he flies,or he could use the Pegasus wings, the reasoning behind my explanation comes from the name of the series, kid icarus icarus is an angel with wax wings that burn if he flies

Cary Will Kill Us That's the first time I read about legend of Icarus and Daedalus having entirely wax wings. The versions I read were always feathered wings made from the plumes of the various birds that visited them. They were always: a) Held together with wax by the shoulder blades, or b) Held together by stitching and used as if they were a Harpie. A would end with the wax melting and Icarus falling, while B would normally end with the wings catching fire. A variant of the two sometimes collide. Pit's wings are made from feathers because they move like feathers, sound like feathers, and the wings move like they are limbs of his arm. Wax would be way too rigid and stationary. But apart from that, you are right that creator had a love for Greek mythology and did base the character off the Icarus legend.

I love palutena, but it annoys me how she never saved any of the angels that were turned to stone. And she and viridi think of pit as an idiot. He ( and link ) is my favourite Nintendo character of all time. If he was gone, she’d still be in Medusa’s grasp..

according to the manga released by CoroCoro, Pit is simply a "fledgling", considering he is like, 13. That would also tie in with his wing size, if you notice how tiny they are before the Miracle Of Flight and how tiny Dark Pit's wings are before he uses Pandora's magic. When they use either, their wings grow in size. I simply think he is too young to be flying yet.

What about in Chapter 22 when Pit's wings are dipped into the Rewind Spring which is said in game to revert things to their NATURAL state! If Pit's wings were restored then he should be able to fly. Even if it didn't do that then why doesn't Pit just have Palutena send him to the Rewind Spring so he can restore his wings to the point where he can fly on his own?

I think Pit's natural state is being unable to fly. If he was born with wings that were too small, even the Rewind Spring would not be able to change anything about that.

I'm pretty sure pit was just born with his wings to small since when the power of flight is activated they get bigger. If they where damaged in battle there would be some scaring. also why doesn't hades activate the power of flight? he's way more powerful than paletana or viridi.

Yeah, it's most likely he was born with wings that were too small to fly with. As for Hades, I think Palutena can prevent other gods from (de) activating Pit's flight as long as she has a connection or bond with him. After the Chaos Kin took control, that bond was broken and Viridi was able to give Pit the power of flight.

My theory is that pit was born a human, named Icarus. Palutena didn’t grant any humans wishes, because all they did was ask, ask, ask. Then one day, a kid named Icarus simply thanked her for everything. She saw a difference in him, and started replying to him, and they would have conversations. One day Icarus didn’t come to talk to her. Palutena was confused and worried. She went down to ask the humans what happened. “He wanted to fly, but... he fell..” a human said. She knew she couldn’t save him, although there was a way, she couldn’t do that, could she? She was selfish, and took him up to skyworld. She made him into an angel, and named him pit.

My friend and I were talking about this on a Skype Call. "Maybe his dad is Icarus, and Medusa killed him. And his disability to fly was passed down to him. That's why the game is called Kid Icarus, possibly."

The air segments of some chapters (like 6 and 14) last for more than 5 minutes, or get really close to it (I used their respective air segment songs for this, since they're always synced with the beginning and end of that segment) and Pi'ts wings don't start burning. However, in chapter 17, when the song hits the 3 minute mark, his wings start to get hot. That's a bit of inconsistency on the game's part, if you ask me.

Honestly, I think Pit himself cannot handle the power of flight for more than 5 minutes- it has nothing really to do with the goddess's, more like what Pit's body can handle. His wings may be too small or have some other defect that makes them unable to actually handle the power of flight for longer than 5 minutes- which is why when Viridi activated it again, they began to burn.

I know I'm replying to this way after your posting but while I like your theory (I thought of it myself at some point in time), it kind of falls apart instantly when you look at Dark Pit absorbing Pandora. If the strain is solely on Pit's physical wings then why is Dark Pit able to fly infinitely? Theoretically Pandora's power should merely have given him the power to fly without a Goddess's aid but the 5-minute limit should have remained intact. At the end of the day I chalk up weird inconsistencies like this to "it's a Nintendo game and they just don't care THAT much about the story or think that hard about the lore." It's kind of a cop-out but it's true.

@@ThrillingDuckmy thought was that the power was basically in his control so he could regulate it to something he could handle with little strain. Plus it also seemed to have increased his strength slightly as you can see him stumble slightly and lose his breath after pandora jumps into that fountain thing.

@@ThrillingDuck that could also be it because those powers basically become his own once he takes them and pit is just given a small amount so maybe it could be a gods limit to how little power they can release at one time. Like maybe they can’t produce a small enough amount of power and are stuck at that limit like how if we were to step on a bug even if we don’t put a lot of force into it the bug is going to get crushed maybe it’s something like that?

if the 5 minute time limit is a lie, then Viridi could have told pit about such hoax, his trust on palutena would be over. What if Palutena is using her powers to prevent other from using the power of flight on pit right after she used it? Like Phyrron prevented pit from being extracted, or like the Aurum messed up with Palutena’s grind rails.

Yes, but if Viridi told pit that, then no-one would have Pit. They're all playing daes dae'mar to keep Pit for themselves without him being any wiser on the situation. However, that second point actually does sound feasible. If true, then maybe the reason Viridi was hesitant to use it when Pit wanted to save Pitto was because she had tried before and failed, and didn't want to embarrass herself in the moment, and as Palutena was out cold, she could in fact do so. It certainly would add to the possessive relationship theory I had an an alternative. I wouldn't think that's the case, but I wouldn't put it past Palutena in the realms of what she is willing to do to achieve her goal. So yeah, pretty interesting point you got there.

I love the idea of the goddesses being afraid of using the power of flight in the right way in fear that Pit might fly away. It might be a stretch but the idea of a goddess lying in order to maintain their servant's faith is dark and interesting.

I think you may are right that pit is a cripple. I think taking the credits as evidence is not good evidence. KIU clearly breaks the fourth wall, and it looks like the end credit have broken the fourth wall, considering the fact that the names of the developers are on the screen and pit can clearly see them. its the end of the game, if anything the game is forcing pit to keep flying. If viridi wanted pit on his side, she could have just gave him unlimited flight if he served her. Pits dream is to fly. and if palutena tried to counter offer with unlimited flight, then pit would know she lied to him, and probably join viridi and become very depressed, and dark pit would have nothing on him.

Also not to mention, when dark put goes and heals puts wings and Pandora escapes dark pits body. After dark pit beats her and goes to fly off with confidence mind you, he ends up falling straight down, and since dark pit is the reflection of pits true self then that means it's true that pit can't really fly naturally as shown by dark pit aka puts true self.

I still have one question that bothered me after the end of this video, why can’t the rewind spring heal Pit’s wings back to its original state before Myths and Monsters. Viridi says that the rewind spring can return things to their natural state. But after using it Pit still needs help from the power of flight to fly.

! ...I imagine since it's been 25 years since Myths and Monsters (as mentioned in chapter 1), that the slight dip was required for the past day or so, and longer would be needed for restoration before M&M.

Ok well there is a TON of evidence against this. One: in my opinion, ANY game that has a credits are not really cannon. The credit part I mean. This means that his wings falling off and the part when he flies at the end of uprising I would consider non cannon unless confirmed. Two: the reason he could fly at the end of chapter 12 is because the 5 minutes weren't up and even then, you see SMOKE coming from his wings! I repeat SMOKE. At the start of the choas vortex (can't remember the number) viridi says "you have to watch the clock!" Implying it was running out. Three: its possible that palutinua (choas kin) activated it because he needed to get over a wall or something. The reason why he flies to you is because palutinua saw it and sent him over as quick as possible. Aka, flying. This leaves plenty of time for them to get to skyworld. Four: angels used to be VERY abundant. It wasn't until Medusa turned them to stone and killed them all that pit (and later, dark pit) were the only ones left. He was spared because his wings didn't work right and she didn't think it was worth her time. Five: it's implied that only if pit trusts someone, they can make him fly. It's EXTREMELY likely that Hades can do it as most of his troops fly, hell, maybe pyron can do it. Six: viridi could have never planned it out so perfectly. If she did she is the luckiest girl alive. They would have had to not except arlons deal to talk it out, have the choas kin get out, have the choas kin not outright KILL pit, wait three YEARS, pick him up before someone else, get the lightning chariot with out fail, have the choas kin take there soul, have pit get in the vortex in time, get palutinua to not come back. It doesn't even work because she does. She seems pretty happy when she does come back tbh Seven: dark pit took the power OF A GODESS. let me repeat. HE. TOOK. THE. POWER. AND. LIFE FORCE. OF. A. LITERAL GODESS. Its also said it's put in his wings. Explaining why he can fly. Eight: I personally think that the mirror of truth didn't reflect pit, it mirrored. I would say that if it was a bit earlier he would be with the underworld and later he would be with palutinua. He hit a middle ground. this isn't really a point since it's just my theory. Nine:;think about it. If he could fly if would be SO. MUCH. EASIER. for him to get around. Like I said I don't consider myths and monsters credits cannon. I mean, if he could fly during the arum it would be 10 times easier! Ten: why didn't pit try to fly on his own? He said "my wish would be, to fly by myself!" Why wouldn't he try? I mean, this theory does make sense given that Viridi is capable of recalling Pittoo, but she didn't and let Pit burn his wings up. This also ended up working in her favor in that, after the Rewind Spring, Pittoo now has to rely on her or Palutena to fly. ...We can then go and tie this into Pittoo aligning with the Forces of Nature in Smash, even if it isn't canon

Darkpower508 Well, when he got close to the Rewind Spring, the mist surrounding it released Pandora's powers from his wings, reverting it back to Pandora, and later on, Amazon Pandora. After Pit was revived, Dark Pit attempted to fly, but with Pandora gone, he was unable to. And seeing as how Dark Pit is a true reflection of Pit (albeit incomplete in the corruption process) and he only saw himself able to fly on his own using Pandora's powers, wouldn't the same apply to Pit rather than it being a ruse set up by Palutena?

I would say yes, Pit would be able to benefit from the infinite flight of Pandora's powers if he had done what Dark Pit did. The reason it's a ruse from Palutena is that Dark Pit used a power of a deity, so really any similar power should work in a similar fashion.

I dont buy it. Look into super smash bros which they do talk about meaning the same universe Pit isn't crippled but is learning to fly. It's like saying a baby is crippled because it can't walk yet. also if his wings are too small to carry him then some of the centurions shouldn't be able to fly.

I though about that too and that is my result: Dark Pit can fly when Pandora is in his wings Pit can fly only five minutes with every power of flight from the gods So I think the wings are wings that only burn if they are powered from the outside and Pit has no strong connection to them so he can't controll them to fly but to move them. The wings themself have a curse by the Icarus (or Ikarus idk) and they brun because of he speed: If you are so fast that you can run 7 times around the earth in a second you can travel to the future but the wings can catch fire. Compare it to electricity: It's fast and warm and maybe the wings are filled with honey or something like hat and that's why they burn with a force outside of them after 5 minutes. Oof I can explain that better in German because German is my mother language....

7:42 Viridi just met them I doubt she would have known the power of flight back then. Now the time skip is a different story that was 3 years later enough time for her to learn it. She could have used it as a weapon but since palutena was attacking the humans she probably just didn't care anymore. I think she felt bad for Pit (since the chaos kin was in her custody) which is why she showed him what became of palutena and decided to help him.

I think there's a couple of *possible* reasons why Viridi doesn't kill Pit during that chapter. One: she may not yet know how to use it. Remember, *there was a long timeskip in the game before Viridi first uses it on him*! Two: Maybe Palutena did something to prevent her from using it on him.

The actual reason (this theory is still brilliant) is that he isn't an angel, he's human, he was given the powers of an angel because he saved palutena and she seemed him a honest soul, but because he was human he doesn't know how to fly and his body is still human, so he can't inherit the ability, although the only issue I see with your theory is that palutena is lying, the issue with that is palutena isn't the only one who helps him fly, viridi does, and the two of them don't see eye to eye, so it's unlikely they would agree on anything like that, she would more than likely prove everything palutena was lying, that would probably make him change, Oh and maybe viridi couldn't make him fly because... Palutena was still around and would probably stop viridi, and dark pit can fly because he stole Pandora's power, and he can only fly after the final fight due to viridi helping him fly (Sorry for poking holes in your theory it's a really bad habit of mine)

So despite my lateness, in KI: OMAM, Pit’s wings are scorched by the sun, as per the Icarus legend, and Pit was required to prove himself to wield the 3 sacred treasures and the manual makes it sound like he’s never heard of them prior to the game. In KI 1, he simply needs to find them, in Uprising, We get the line about Pit being touchy about his wings and the Power of Flight being limited. Nintendo focuses more on gameplay, yes, but their universes have an order, even if there are inconsistencies.

Even though canonically his wings are too small... or whatever, I go by saying (since I like his wings to be bigger just cause it seems cooler) that he has a nerve defect and can't flap them correctly to support his own weight. However, this is completely alternate universe and fanfiction-y. But I also agree with this theory. It just seems super... realistic, for it being based on Greek Mythology (the gods are messed up in real Greek Mythology).

There are so many holes in your theory that Palutena is lying -Pit wasn't HIMSELF flying until he saved his body while controlling Magnus, so technically it's not counting. -You just happened to survive in the final level that long. Canonically, Hades is defeated MUCH earlier.

+Angry Garden Crafter It's true Pit wasn't himself flying in the first part of Chapter 18, but his "body" was, and we kept being told that the Power of Flight cannot be activated after it has been used. There's no mention to weather the thing flying needs to have a soul or not, and it burns his wings, not his soul, which makes me believe the rule still applies here. Even if that is the case, you may want to go and play chapter 25 again and time and time from when the power of flight is first active to the very end of the credits, all in which you see the Power of Flight, cut-scene and all. Even if I didn't wait a long time and tanked all that damage, the time the Power of Flight is active is still over the 5 minute mark that should have burnt his wings. I would like to hear the other holes you find in my theory. A discussion is most welcomed.

You mention that Pit's wings doesn't burn off at the end of Chapter 12. But one thing that was never pointed out is how long it takes until you can use the power of flight again. And even with that, in Chapter 21, Pit's wings only burnt after saving Dark Pit. Maybe the wings only begin to burn off a short time after, and in Chapter 12, Palutena only activated the power of flight for a short 10 seconds. But even with that, I can completely understand this theory. It makes a lot of sense, and I can agree with it.

Thank you for the interest! You mentioned "But one thing that was never pointed out is how long it takes until you can use the power of flight again.", which is a very good question, and more importantly, why doesn't Palutena communicate with Pit more on what exactly the limit is? If she's willing to risk it for a brief few seconds to get Pit out of danger, despite the risk of burning his entire wings up because of it, then that would lead me to believe that Palutena is at least not telling Pit everything. That would be my fluff on that point anyway. Thanks for both the critique and the understanding :3

Good theory, which is somewhat backed by Palutena's already pretty tricky nature, but as many here have already stated there are a few holes. Also, lets be real here, the limitation was only set because the devs could only make flight sections around 5 minutes long for the most part XD. It's just a story way to justify that tech limitation of not being able to fly during ground play.

There's alot wrong with this theory. But it was fun to listen to. But your argument on how the power if flight in the last battle was longer than five minutes could be easily broken down into rumble. First off, palutena is powering up pits cannon, the one giving him the power of flight is viridi and I believe she's stated that she could grant pit flight better than palutena can, which could imply that she can give put the power of flight for longer than five minutes

Okay, so Viridi could have just been exaggerating when she said she is better. Also the reason Pit may have been able to fly longer is because Palutena could have funneled her might into extending the length. Viridi and Palutena may have different power so that could be why his wings burst into flames when VIRIDI activating it.

As much as she helped Pit...after hearing out Dark Pit in Chapter 6, I just couldn't give her complete trust anymore, mostly because Palutena never addresses anything Dark Pit brought up. It eventually went to the back of my head until Viridi appeared. What concerned me most was how she did not address Viridi's valid complaints of human exploitation (and the fact that they were causing problems with their war). The final straw was when Pit was fighting Pyrrhon. After the Nutski sacrificed themselves to save Pit by Viridi, Palutena chimed in almost immediately on how there was no point dwelling on it. She chimed. With a smile. It really disturbed me to actually see and hear the limit of Palutena's compassion. Of course, this in the NA version. I know some of her dialogue is different in the JP version.

I doesn't look like it happens. Of it did, there would be some clear signs when Pit extends his wings. Pit's wings are short and small (especialy on the ground model) and I think that's why he can't fly on his own. Palutena just ignores the laws of physics and makes him fly anyway. In Smash Bros, in his jumping animation he flaps his wings and loses feathers so that's not it. I just think he's either crippled or too young

Btw, I don't count the credits as canon. I will admit that the fight being able to last more than five minutes is an interesting point, though. As for the reset bomb factory, it does actually take a while to get through it without speedrunning, so I think canonically it has been long enough for her to use it again without risk of burning his wings. As for why, I believe it's because there wasn't enough time to extract him before the factory core exploded. I think the risk comes from the *same* god using it in such a short time. Viridi, however, is not Palutena. And no, I don't think Pit's wings burning up was because of her time limit on how long the Power of Flight lasts, but because of how soon it was activated again. I think the Power of Flight requires the receiver to actually *willingly* accept it, which is probably why it can't be used against him so easily. If Dark Pit knew that the Power of Flight wasn't actually limited, then why didn't he ever bring it up?

Well, yeah, exactly. That's kind of the point isn't it? I mean, you're completely wrong, an exact clone of pit would have the same coloured plumage, as Pit has white Dove wings while Pitto has a grey-green plumage going for him, but the fact Pitto can't fly on his own would fit perfectly into Medusas plans of keeping an angel dependant on her.
