Very good points against the mad proposal to plant mango trees everywhere, but you also missed some key points: Tree plantation by itself is ALWAYS a good thing. Trees must be planted in regions that have been converted to tree-less/urban landscapes because of *human* intervention. Urban areas, especially Indian cities and towns, are nothing but treeless concrete jungles. What is needed is for trees to be planted in such urban areas to produce green/wooded areas that can act as lungs for the town as a whole. Another good example is the Himalayan foothills, where dams and human settlement have denuded the mountains and hills. Here, there is definitely a need for restoring the green/forest cover. The mono-cultural and type-of-ecosystem arguments you made are very valid. OF COURSE, when trees are planted to create a forest, there should be a good mix of indigenous species. In the Indian plains, that would mean a mix of ficus, jamun, mango, arjun, sal, coral and silk-cotton trees - these are trees found in a typical Indian forest. Trees like ficus are called key stone species because they support a very large number of animal and bird species. Sadly, many youngsters in India lack knowledge of these tree species. T In summary - lets plant trees of different kinds, in places that desperately need tree cover. Not mangoes, but other species as well. If every house, and every shop had a tree, we would have already made a great start.

Tress are not just for absorbing carbondioxide -they stop soil from being washed away, thus are effective against the major issues of landslides and desertification . - trees help the soil to retain moisture you know "maintaining ground water". -trees attracts rain, clouds . -trees makes environment much more cooler -trees makes soil fertile. Adding to it, instead of preserving the existing vegetation; we are uprooting them for any valid reasons you state and promising plantation somewhere else. The damage will not be recovered once you bring down a century old tree, with new saplings considering our current situation.

@@human177 में बचपन में जब 2nd class में था आज से 17-18 साल पहले तो रोज स्कूल से आके पेड़ लगाने लगता था अपने घर ओर खेत में । बहुत ज्यादा पेड़ लगाए में । उनमें से आज 20 पेड़ के करीब बहुत बड़े हो चूके है । बहुत से पेड़ खुद सुख गए थे और बहुत से जानवरो ने तोड़ दिए थे। आज गांव में हमारा घर ही ऐसा है। जिसके घर में सबसे ज्यादा पेड़ है । बहुत सकून मिलता है उनके नीचे जाते ही 🥰❤️❤️

i know a place in delhi, where there are lots of tree in a park (jungle style big trees near mutan nagar) you can feel the difference in temperature by going there. and air quality is also fresh there. Grow trees as much as you can. but i m agreed on ur points!

Monoculture point I will definitely agree but abhi and niyu didn’t said to compulsorily plant only mango trees they mentioned mango trees coz almost everyone consumes mango in summers and there seeds are gone to waste.They just said to plant trees no matter which one it is. Trees are not just about climate change. They provide habitat for birds, insects and small animals which are CRITICAL in their conservation. Not to mention how much impact a large green tree has on the stress levels and mental health of people living around it. But I firmly believe that if you want to plant a tree, plant native trees only! Great video though!!

सिर्फ पेड़ लगाना अकेला हल नहीं हो सकता लेकिन - १ पेड़ की वजह से आस पास का तापमान कम रहता है २ पेड़ ground water recharge करने मे सहायता करता है और पानी का स्तर उपर रखता है ३ पेड़ की छाया अगर हमारे घर को ढक रही तो हमारा concrete वाला घर कम गर्म होगा इसकी वजह से हम AC कम प्रयोग करेंगे जो की environment के लिए अच्छा है ४ पेड़ soil erosion को रोकता है और घास भी इसमें मददगार है ६ पेड़ो की wall, desertification होने से रोकती है और costal areas me पेड़ cyclone और tides se बचाते है

exactly , most of the time he say planting trees is not the solution ,but if u plant tress indirectly u r reducing carbon emission, i have never came across any practical report that says planting tress has caused damage in nature. All the reports and data he talked about is assumption theory based and not practical or anything we have faced in past. SO just plant tress and try to minimize as much carbon reduction as u can .

Read about monocultural afforestation, and gene pool shrinkage, as well as how they impede forest recovery. You just havent read enough, lack expertise or are simply unaware. There are multitudes of cases where planting a singular variety, or a non-native species has caused wide scale genetic erosion and detriment to the indigenous population. Planting trees is good, and it helps to a certian extent, but planting only one variety or planting without any regard to the local ecosystem is extremely detrimental, so are other such monocultural practises. I am sorry to say but your statement, "So just plant tress and try to minimize as much carbon reduction as u can.", although you may have good intentions behind it, sounds very ignorant and oversimplified. Think of it this way, if you want to lose weight, and you keep exercising or running in the hope that it will help you, without taking into consideration the fact that exercising hardly even uses up 10-15% of your daily calorific intake, and that the key to losing weight is actually maintaining a calorific deficit (i.e eating less), you will not lose weight will you?

@@jkg6491 no one is saying to plant only single type of tress. Just plant tress is the main motto , also in the video of abhi and niyu they preferred mango tress bcoz it is native to Maharashtra but they never told to only pant mangoes tress and not the rest variety of tress. Also planting fruit trees can initially inspire people to do planting at initial step. Even if we go by ur example the may be only exercising will not reduce weight, but it is sure that it will prevent from more weight gain, and body will remain healthy and fit even after having significant weight. YES , we will not get the exact result we want but surely efforts will benefit us directly or indirectly(in some cases). Planting tress will not reduce green house gases, but it will surely reduce the increase rate in which it is now increasing in atmosphere . Plus tress will help to keep surface temp low , increase groundwater level and also some amount of oxygen. As an individual you cannot change what is not under ur control , but small steps will still help kyuki .... He is not telling that planting trees is wrong or unworthy. He is just comparing the various methods by which we can control climate change. Preserving existing ecosystems is the best way so by being vegan we can control this as more the number of cattle greater the methane gas released. Also he is telling that planting trees is an expensive and time-consuming process, also most people won't be able to take care of trees for several years due to monetary and time constraints. And most people will give lectures on planting trees, but hardly do it by themselves in a scientific and efficient way and also won't question the fast clearing of land for infrastructure, agriculture, mining or animal husbandry purposes just because our needs are met at the expense of nature. We should plant trees as well as reduce our day by day increasing consumption and support for strict environmental laws.

You nailed it bro! ❤ Although I supported Abhi and Niyu and even joined their project and sponsored 10 K seeds for that project, I still totally agree with you on veganism. Along with Veganism we also need population control which is again sensitive topic which nobody wants to talk about or hear. We need more and more young people who can come forward to abstain from giving birth at the same time adapt veganism. I took that decision about 4 years back to turn vegan and stopped at one child. I wish more people realize this soon and collectively take that call in their lives.

Actually no veganism needs less crops to grow for consumption. Non veg diet and vegetarian diet needs more crops to grow as we need to feed the cattle along with humans. First feed the cattle feed made by growing crops then consume their milk or flesh so it requires more land to grow crops hence more deforestation for agriculture. By the way you are correct about population control.

its 1:8 ratio . to create 1 unit of meat we consume 8 unit of crop. which can stopped, if you use 1 unit for crop yield (which is your requirement), 7 units of land saved.

Animals require more crops to be grow and the whole process is highly inefficient as animals that we consume are endothrems and they use most of the energy to maintain their body temperature. Consuming direct crops and fruits are highly energy efficient but unfortunately not nutrient efficient.

Don't people advise to eat local food so as to reduce the carbon emmissions in transportation? Then, growing superfoods like quinoa, avocado and chia seeds in such huge quantities is unsustainable in those areas- I have seen documentaries on it. So how is one supposed to balance their meals? There is only so much pulses, legumes and soya a person can eat- the former two have more carbs than protein, then nuts have more fats than protein, so that is another problem- macronutrient balance.

@@GH-mj2ti Humans are Omnivorous for a reason, what I said is was purely based on inefficiency of acquiring the energy from plants indirectly through a trophic level in the middle. Obviously, if you can't survive eating grass in the middle of a grassland, you would need a herbivore in the middle to obtain the energy from the grass. But again, today's first world countries have industrialised the diary and meat industry, which is producing more carbon emissions than your example. I am not a vegan, and most probably never will, but I can't ignore the facts and stats.

Since you already donated for Isha's project, I think the #SaveSoil movement by Sadhguru is on the same lines that u are saying...Soil needs to be covered by organic matter either by way of grasslands, Trees or just a wild growth...Soil also helps store carbon. It will be good if u can throw some light on that as most of the solutions given seem more practical and people's mindset change from trees to Soil needs to happen faster! Eg: Tree based agriculture etc.

We have to reduce production. Planting trees with the sole purpose of carbon capture is pointless because of these 2vreasons... 1- It takes a very long time 3- When the tree dies, or there is a forest fire or the wood is used as firewood, aaaalllllll that carbon is promptly released into the atmosphere once again. As for save the soil, (juggy' is a fraud), we have to control the population. More population means more mouths to feed, more agriculture, more roads, more transport etc.

Planting trees is not just to remove CO2 from environment , in fact amount of oxygen produced by plants is consumed by the plant itself. Algae produces more oxygen than forests .But planting trees is important for transpiration which promotes rainfall in that particular area , and it also enhances ecosystem.

The place on which you're shooting this video was once a forest land. We all are a part of urbanization. Every forest Category has it own importance and a role to play on the geography. Just because increasing natural forest is a solution as you said, it doesn't mean that planting a tree would not contribute. Tree plantation is not an option , it's a necessity.

I studied Forestry in my Grad... and i will say that planting any native trees is fine and should be promoted wherever possible and exotic or alien species should be avoided... And planting Mango trees is also good as it provides NTFP's to the community and benefits as a good shade tree also... and it's really necessary to plant shady tress to combat heat..

In the case of vegan diets, most people fail to meet nutritional requirements. One needs to monitor their parameters, especially B12, iron, calcium and other B vitamins. Thus many people become vegan but quickly give up as they are not careful and intentional in meeting their nutritional requirements. Also, one may need to take supplements which are agin manufactured in factories and no study has been done on the carbon footprint of eating an egg/ drinking milk vs taking supplements. Why can't things be in moderation?

Suresh, If there is a superman in environmental protection world its you, nobody could have explained the problem and solution so easily as you did. Commendable, 1 fully grown tree can only absorb 1.8KGs of CO2 in 1 month, burning 1 liter petrol produces 2.3 KGs of CO2 with this math in place if you are burning just 30 liter of petrol you are decimating 40 trees per month. Its easy to say go and plant trees very hard to give up momentary pleasure of eating meat or diving a car.

Our ancestors were not vegan they ate only meat for thousands of year but global warming was never an issue because there were no industrialization that release co, co2. I don't think being a vegan is a solution. And some data for you brother Norway comes in top 10 least polluted country in world and only 9℅ of Norway's population are vegetarian not even vegan.
