@@Deluxe854 Yeah, XY has been hated in retrospective. People have Black & White in high regards, forgetting they love Black 2 & White 2 and not the original quite as much. They are able to dismiss the backlash it had on release, such as the bold choice of only have new Pokémon to pick, or a third of Generation 5's Pokémon took too much inspiration from Generation 1. The Pokémon design was basically _"Gen 1 but urban instead of wild!"_ I am not going to argue that XY is unfinished. It is. It also over-corrected some of the flaws of Generation 5. The bad XP formula of Generation 5 (scaled and unshared) in hope to prevent 1-2 overleveled Pokémon team required to have a carpet of high level weak Pokémon to maintain a team. Thus the absurd evolution level: do Mienshoo really requires level 50, or Mandibuzz level 54?! It failed so bad, the designer just introduce XP punching bags as Audino on every route to cut the grind. Which lead to Generation 6 bad XP formula: unscaled and share. Basically you can follow the overlevel Pokémon strategy from Gen 1 to 4, but instead it got applied on your whole team. When you add the most extensive base Pokédex to date (430ish non-legendary wild Pokémon) and XP on catch, then the difficulty is absolutely absent when you don't renew your team and catch them all. This has been corrected in Generation 7. Yet, Sun and Moon feels more like 6.5G: the environnement is better made but the 3D Pokémon animation and combat didn't improved. It also made a bold choice of overscripting the progression. If XY is the Mario 64, then SM should be the Sunshine yet... feels more Mario 64 DLC. USUM was the nail: it felt more like New Game + with DLC content, very far from the reimagination of BW to B2W2. This is where the fans really started to research culprit. In the end, XY isn't bad. Just very good despite being incomplete and having obvious flaws. It suffers from not having a third version. In a sense, ORAS is highly regarded despite being Gen6. Would 4th Gen remembered if Platinum didn't step up to fix the latency, the pacing and the bugs? People are hating XY in retrospective because they pinpoint the downfall from here. Yet, XY were an improvement! The downfall came afterward when Gamefreak couldn't follow the tight time constraint with such a small team, which lead to more and more underwhelming and half baked games.
Mega evolution is the coolest mechanic they have introduced since gen 6 in my opinion. it wasnt just making a pokemon bigger or giving them some generic moves, it was redesigning them and improving them
Personaly I think the ultra games are better than base sun and moon HOWEVER you can only really enjoy if you haven't played the base games before, since its like the same game but with dlc, and considering how damn annoying the entire alolan text wall of hand holding was, can't blame why everybody who played the base game first got pissed off at the ultra games Edit: honestly feels like gen 4 tbh, how diamond and pearl feel kinda a shore to get past the start of the region but platinum fix some issues here and there with banger late game so is an legit better experience overall
gen 6 is my personal favorite gen, mostly due to the anime, but I'm doing my first ever actual playthrough of it right now as a nuzlocke since I've heard it's mad easy
@@GinjaNinja-mm5npSO TRUE! My first playthrough was a nuzlocke and before reflection cave i Lost ONE POKEMON and caught like 15. I Left reflection cave without enough Pokémon to make a team of six😢
you forgot to mention that a reason why x and y probably felt "unfinished/undercooked" was most likely because of the giant leap to 3d, requiring every old pokemon to also have a model made for them on top of the new pokemon ive never understood why people dislike sun and moon, pokemon fans wanted something new and they got exactly that, seems like another black and white situation, where people hated on release (though i cant argue that z moves werent just a terrible idea) i'll also die on the hill of og RSE being ass compared to ORAS, i think its the best remakes weve ever gotten besides HGSS highly recommend at least replaying through one of the gen 7 games tho
Actually, the models from X and Y are ripped from an old Pokemon app before X and Y where a thing, some animations from Pokemon colosseum where re-used for the current models.
Scarlet and Violet is so good, I love all the stories. Everyone talks about the glitches and lag and while that can be frustrating, it doesn’t invalidate how amazing the stories were. I especially relate with Nemona and I hope that future games keep the multiple path thing because I enjoyed having it be more varied in what you do, I especially enjoyed the Star Barrages. I think that if future games will be similar, with maybe less lag and more content(although that may be unlikely, especially the lag) the games will continue to improve. That’s just my opinion though
It’s such a shame how the mainline games have been handled following Gen V. We have Gen VI and VII where all post game content got boiled down to Gen 1 amounts. Then we got Gen VIII and IX where the games came out rushed and unfinished, being saddled with a mountain made of many smaller mole hills that are the technical and quality of life issues and bugs. Not to mention all of these titles lack of replayability due largely to both unnecessary, unskippable cutscenes and long arduous tutorial areas that span multiple cities or (in the case of Alola) even an island. As someone who played Pokémon starting with Gen 1 back when she was five, I truly believe that Scarlet and Violet are (or rather could have been) the best entry into the Pokémon games ever. However, the game has so many technical and mechanical issues, quality of life issues, and lack of polish, consideration, or care that I cannot recommend it as a game to other people to play (specifically people outside of the Pokémon fandom). And while Gen VIII has many story and pacing issues, I think they encapsulate the feeling of having a grand Pokémon battle against rival trainers and gym leaders very well. The best in the franchise. But there’s just too many other issues with common gameplay that makes the games so unenjoyable and would make any follow up playthroughs feel like such a slog to get through. A lot of said issues just weren’t there or were considered and worked around in previous titles that they just threw onto the cutting room floor in their bid to push the games as unique from previous titles. The new games forget or refuse to look to their older titles to learn from and make a genuinely good game. Not just a title, but a game.
To me gen 6 was an over-reaction to the negative feedback from gen 5, remember gen 5 was the worst selling games in the series history and at the time (even though those numbers are good from the video game industry) it was harald as the begining of the end. So many things that now we see in hindsight as positives were regarded as negatives. (Couldn't use your favorite old Pokemon till after the end of the game? STILL using sprites? The exp scaling made it hard to over level.) So much of x&y was an attempt to pander and get older fans that had been lost during 4 & 5 and it worked. The numbers did ungabunga and honestly the ungabunga has not stopped so game freak has learned the lesson of taking the easy way out with a new gimmick and attention on a couple old mons and boom you're making bank. Game freak is continuing to see just how much they can cut and still have people purchase their products and with each generation, (even with the buggy mess that was SV) the consumer continues to buy buy buy
Well that is the first time I watch a video until the end and then am shocked by the number of views !! Great vidéo really ! I don't know how you ended up on my main page but I am glad you did :D You have a great voice ! I don't know if you necessarily take advices but mine would be to have included more gameplay moments of each game, as you talked about them. Otherwise it was really interesting and I agree with you, let's hope for the best in the future of pokemon games (gen 5 was THE momentum)
GF/TPC wanted to break tradition/change their formula by not makin' a Pokemon Z or it didn't do dat good to warrant a Pokemon Z, XYZ was da closest we got to it, 1:45-1:47 Volcanion had a mystery gift event(man I hate those) at places like Gamestop but trust me you didn't miss much... 1:57 well XY/XYZ gave Serena,Shauna, Tierno and Trevor more personality than their game counterparts, speakin' of how anime did better than da games same for Lysandre and Team Flare heck we even get to see Malva's involvement wit Team Flare, dis next part bugged me... So Shauna uses Bulbasaur which she gets from Sycamore and later becomes Ivysaur but her game counterpart doesn't use any of kanto's starters despite Sycamore offerin' 1 to her and Calem/Serena... Lastly for XY, mega evolutions should've been permanent and dey should have their original abilities , abilities by mega evos except Mega Houndoom wit Solar Power and hidden abilities also we didn't need to backtrack to Lumiose just for a gym battle... Like we could've beaten Team Flare at Lumiose's power plant , turn their electricity back on durin' our 1st visit , beat Clemont and get badge #2 and moved onto Grant.ORAS: gave us an origin story for Mr.Bonding(O powers guy) which makes it a remake and a prequel to XY,Brendan/May and their mom should've been in Petalburg alongside Norman like his anime family in pokemon advanced, I hate how we have to backtrack(yet again) to Petalburg since Norman is technically da 1st gym in Hoenn so Idk we couldn't face him nor do we get a reason here on in RSE but if we did... Dat Slakoth-Makuhita trade would've been useful if it was Petalburg instead of Rustboro. Now on to Wally and his parents, Wally should've been given da last hoenn starter(and later catch Ralts) and pokedex like his manga counterpart even if it was short lived... Wally definitely should've had Gallade in one version and Gardevoir(Pokemon Masters EX fixed dat problem) as a callback to RSE, I get dat GF wanted to show Mega Gallade and Wally's Mega Pendant which is shaped like Gallade's head but why not a Mega Pendant shaped like Gardevoir head? Or his Gardevoir/Mega Gardevoir wit an updated moveset? Seems like a missed opportunity. Glad we get to hear of Wally's progress from Hoenn news network after MT.Chimney is explored, he beats Flannery,Norman,Winona, Tate and Liza and Wallace before you and has his name on every gym statue heck even his dad acknowledges he's trainer while he couldn't believe Wally could reach victory road sayin' he's too sick in RSE, now to Wally's parents should've moved to Verdanturf alongside Wally and not for Wally to return to Petalburg because why not be wit your son? Why would you want him to return if dat air made him sick? Plus its their family too so why not be around each other? Lastly Delta episode makes it seems like Emerald was suppose to be a direct sequel like BW2 and not an enhanced version(pokenav call function, Battle Frontier under construction, Steven explainin' why he will step down as champion and why Wallace took his place later on and his champion team ). 2:29-2:30 Viola,Grant,Korrina,Ramos,Clemont,Valerie, Olympia and Wulfric(Gaeric's descendant). 3:50-3:51 Kahunas and trials gave me orange island crew vibes but too bad we don't get those pretty seashell badges alongside Z crystals, 4:45-4:50 Tauros replaced rock smash, Charizard replaced fly , Machamp carried you and replaced strength Stoutland is an itemfinder via pickup ability, Solgaleo/Lunala allowed players to go into ultra wormholes, Mantine, Sharpedo and Lapras replaced surf(ridin' on Lapras remindin' me of Ash and his lapras durin' his orange islands journey) and lastly Mudsale who runs on rocky terrain. 4:51 I hated dat annoyin' rotomdex and SM/USUM's made me hate it more... since you mentioned regional variants, its too bad dat blue eyed Pikachu named Puka from S1e67 wasn't made into an Alolan regional form for Pikachu heck a blue eyed alolan Pichu would've been cool too and lastly 5:04-5:05 seems like GF wanted USUM to be a direct sequel like BW2 but it ended up bein' an enhanced version instead and final thoughts on SM/USUM: I'm surprised you didn't mentioned how Zygarde had a plot point in Alola dat could've been used for a Pokemon Z and dat you could battle Sina and Dexio in SM/USUM but not in XY . Now onto LGPE who's timeline is confusin' to me: so Red, Blue, Green already went on their journeys , earned every badge, defeated Indigo Plateau, battled Team Rocket and got 'em disbanded(safe to assume) and wrote down every location for every Kantonian pokemon PLA style in a way which makes no sense since Professor Samuel Oak made Gen 1's pokedex durin' Red, Blue and Green's time so I doubt he would wait 1-3 years later... Also Neo Team Rocket run by Archer so be out and about plus it seems we should be in GSC's timeline, Lavender Town shouldn't have Marowak's spirit there but should have its radio tower so Neo TR could take it over similar to how dey did it in Goldernrod City , every gym leader should be in their gen 2 designs(or at least redesign of their gen design) as well use pokemon from GSC/HGSS(if only LGPE added Kanto's pre evolved forms/evolutions from gen 2,4 and 6 similar to how ORAS added Hoenn's pre evolved forms , and evolutions to Hoenn's gen 6 dex)heck a few if not most of Kanto gym leader's pokemon are from their GSC/HGSS/once you do first battle 'em or do rematches in LGPE: Brock(Kabutops,Omastar, Golem ),Misty's(Golduck) ,Erika(Tangela and Victreebel) Surge's)Electrode,Electabuzz, Magneton and Raichu) , Sabrina(,Mr.Mime, Jynx, Hypno and Alakazam Blaine(Magmar and Rapidash) and Blue (Gyarados, Alakazam and Kantonian Exeggutor). Blue should've been runnin' Viridian gym not Giovanni still at dis point(since Blue did ask to be its gym leader) Red should be champ and Green? A E4 perhaps, Professor Oak was teased to be champ which is a reference to how we were supposed to battle him in RGBY but yet no official battle...Blue had Shalour Sables which he gives to Chase/Elaine and Trace on SS.Anne which is from Shalour City in Kalos and a reference to a lady from Lumiose , sayin' Blue traveled to Kalos to study abroad and mentioned his catchphrase:Smell ya later but SS.Anne shouldn't exist since he sunked after it left Vermillion so SS.Aqua should in its place and lastly we got Mina who doesn't seem to trial captain and doesn't mention it also Wigglytuff is a referrnce since she has 1 in SM/USUM but surprised Z moves were added which makes LGPE, GF's first remake not to use a gimmick for a gen a Pokemon game was remade from. SWSH's story felt rushed/badly written(adventures does a better job) and a lot stuff was lazy like Hop's talkin' animation which was recycled from Hau... Dynamax/Gigantamax reminds me of dat Gulpin it down episode which a wild Gulpin and Ash's Treecko, giant. I liked how Opal took Bede under her wing and he had growth as a gym leader, Opal should've been made Galar's first E4 alongside Piers(since he retired too but Marnie could've been gym leader before da champion cup), Bea and Melony plus Allister and Gordie(who was trained by his mom, Melony) have proven to be worthy successors in shield and sword respectively but I wish I wish Galar's gym leaders used more Galarian mons also I wished we got to see Klara's and Avery's gyms/badges or how their challenges would've been like and lastly 4 SWSH:every pokemon dat had Gigantmax forms/exclusive G-max moves by DLC should've been main game not , great town design like Ballonlea for example gave me enchanted forest vibes and was beautiful, gym battles were hype but its gym leader theme was meh.
Gen 6 is what got me back into the game after skipping BW2, so I’ll look at Kalos fondly for that. I miss Megas but still think those games were mid. I had a lot of fun with Scarlet and have hope moving forward but the idea of the games selling like hotcakes regardless of how good they are is a scary thing
@@PokemonRangerJackson Yeah me too. At this point it’s a question of how much does game freak/TPC respect themselves because they could sell literal shit and we’d all still buy it 😂
As a die hard Gen 7 fan I'm waiting every day for in which the Alola games get revaluated in the same way opinions shifted on Gen 5. They were my fist pokemon games so every time people say "Modern Pokemkn has lost his magic" I'm like "But Sun and Moon are right there!!!". In all fairness I will admit that by Gen 14 I'll also probably be disenchanted with the franchise compared to when I first started playing, But that doesn't change the fact that Gen 7 has lots of great things to enjoy (Great Pokemon variety, Good story and an Amazing setting just to name a few) , and I wish people would give it more credit. Sure it also has it's dowsides, the unskipable cutscenes annoy me too, but there is no such thing like a perfect game.
I think the worst gen is Gen 8. SwSh felt generic, the entire gen was a mess, all the problems, the dexit thing, people saying that the graphics were terrible. For me, I think that gen 8 was the only really terrible gen. X and Y, Sun and Moon, Scarlet and Violet, all have something charming about them, something memorable, and the SwSh games they just...exist.
I respect your opinions. I think Gen 5 was objectively the best generation, and I think youre a bit too harsh on the newer games.. USUM was my FAVORITE game in the series bc of how different it was without trying too hard, and it really feeling like an adventure. Admittedly, Pokemon has fallen off over the years in its own ways.. but idk I'd die on the hill gen 7 is under rated and over hated when Sword and Shield is rated like 2.5 stars and was extremely rushed and lacking
Strangely gen 5 for me was when it started to decline in quality. And I never fully understand the resurgence of gen 5 with fans. I think it reached it bottom with gen 7. Gen 7 replaced gyms with trials which were a cool idea. But it is hard to replace something that been a series staple since the beginning. Same issue with no elite four/champion battles in gen 8. However, gen 8 had really cool looking mons. The Pokemon themselves I really have a hard time remembering past gen 4 though. There is just so many to keep track of now days. Gen 7 I hated the rotem dex. Prefer the original Pokedex. Gen 7 replaced Mega Evolutions from gen 6 with Z moves. Mega Evolutions should have been a series staple since its introduction from X & Y. While I enjoyed 8 more then the previous few generation it does come with problems. Gen 8 feels incomplete without paying more money for the DLC. Which I assume gen 9 has the same problem. Gen 9 is the only games I have not played. If you don't have the DLC for Sword/Shield there is very little to due after beating the game. Even less so then gen 1. Because gen 1 you still have the legendary birds and MewTwo. Also, I going to say Pokemon Brillitant Diamond/Shiny Pearl are very underrated games. They expanded the underground by a lot. And it actually has a post game unlike gen 8. No DLC required. Plus they not slow like the original Diamond & Pearl. Which I also never had an issue with unless majority of players. Been playing Legend's Arecaues and I am almost done with the main story. Certainly and interesting game but still not as great as Pokemon Emerald or HeartGold/SoulSilver. Gen 3 and Gen 2 remakes are peak Pokemon games for me. So much replayability. Reason why I love gen 1-4 so much. Also nostalgia is a factor to why I love those games. Both the gen 1 remakes and gen 2 remakes are the best versions of themselves. Gen 3 you have Emerald. Which made ORAS a little disappointing. Gen 4 is debatable with the remakes or Platinum. Maybe Platinum because of the distortion world. Gen 5 like I said at the beginning was not my favorite unlike a lot of fans are. Never like the designs of some of the mons. No previous gen mons available. And since gen 5 the games are too much dialogue that is is a distraction from the gameplay. Sure the story of gen 5 is good but because of it the games have less replay value. And you have HeartGold/SoulSilver & Platinum being better games coming right before gen 5. Finally in terms of the Let's Go games. Certainly the worst Kanto games. They got rid of abilities that FireRed/LeafGreen had. No 7 islands. And the games had the Pokemon Go mechanic of just throwing a ball to catch wild Pokemon. Instead of random encounters to battle the mons. However, I do like the Pokemon in the overworld but I wished we just battle them like normal. Like we do in Legend's Areceus. I also do like how Let's Go got rid of the Pokemon Center PC box and is now with you within a click of a few buttons. So there are a few pros of the Lets Go games. But still enjoyed it being an Kanto adventure. I know this been an essay and think you for all the people who read all of this. But Pokemon as a whole has its up and downs despite a decline in quality since gen 5.
Pokémon X was my first real experience with the series and Omega Ruby was when I really started to pick out some of my favorite Pokémon. It’s easily my most played Pokemon game. So Gen 6 does hold a special place for me. I’ve never played USUM but I’ve played through Moon and enjoyed the game. Gen 7 is honestly tied with Gen 3 for having the overall best designed Pokemon in the series in my opinion.
@@PokemonRangerJackson My favorite since the beginning has always been Darkrai. Gen 4 was the most recent generation when I first got into the series and from first sight, Darkrai became an instant favorite.
For me it started the decline in the middle of Gen 5. Black and White are my favorite games. Black 2 and White 2 though, not so much. However, I liked the games that came out after Black and White more than the games that came out before overall. While I disliked the map layout of B2 & W2 compared to B&W, I liked it more than gens 1, 2, 3 and 4. Same for the map layouts for Gen 6 onward. That means a lot for me as part of the deal is exploring and some of those older generations were bad at it. Don't get me wrong though, I didn't enjoy the straight maps with no deviation either. I just enjoyed them better than the constant needless and oftentimes stupidly done backtracking with no additional content in the previously visited areas. I think it's just that Pokemon was not my first RPG. I wasn't a child when the series came out and had dozens of JRPGs under my belt long before I was ever clued into the existence of Pokemon. So gen 5, Black and White in particular, felt like the most complete RPG experiences. Aside from Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness that is but that's a whole other discussion. Up until Black and White, I don't think Pokemon was even the best "monster collector" game out there. The Dragon Warrior Monsters series and even the Robopon series had far better games. While I haven't played it, I would imagine so was SMT Devil Children. Hell, you might even have to consider the Suikoden series as a "monster collector" as well since 108 characters to get in each game is pretty similar.
Yeah ORAS with a exception for gen 6; but XY was lacking and Sun and Moon missed out of doing a Ver 2 like BW for the new gym system established and new islands and more new pokemon and alolan forms
I know you said you'd play all the games since gen 5 again to see if you'd have different feelings about them, but I think you should've made this video after doing that or do this video again after having done that. While I understand and agree with some of the criticisms mentioned, it's difficult to talk about something in retrospect if you don't remember anything about it and your points about Pokemon's faults since Gen 5 would hit a lot harder if it sounded like you thoroughly understood the games since.
I personally think I remembered enough and did enough research before making this, but I agree - I would love to make another video after I replay them...just gotta find the time
I think what people fail to realize is that older games feel better because of nostalgia. If you actually look objectively at them you'll see there aren't the masterpieces everyone praises. The biggest example are GCS and HGSS, and I'm saying it as someone who's first gen was 4. A very incomplete region with a shallow story that tries to bring back team rocket but fails miserably, because let's be honest their moments in Johto were forgettable. The pokedex of the region is full of baby pokemon, and most of the new mons were spread in the shittiest way possible: with some locked in Kanto post game and others basically at the end, you couldn't even try them, to the point where that feeling of belonging that pokemon have to their original regions disappears, because honestly, when we think about Macgarco we associate with gen 3, not 2. The kanto region is another hollow mess, with again no story whatsoever, wild pokemon with redicously low levels/not even fully evolved, and as usual terribly spread across the routes. And let's not mention the absolutely horryfing level curve. I tried playing Pokemon Crystal after playing Pokemon Soul Silver years ago, and god was it awful. I can't bring myself to keep playing because it takes forever to level up my team to the right number when the wild pokemon are all underlevelled asf. You said that ORAS were lucklaster, but I'd say that HGSS were far more lucklaster when it came to fixing Johto's massive problems (again, level curve, new pokemons unaivalabe until end game). And I don't get what you meant by bringing up that USUM was like replaying SM, that could be said for Emerald and Platinum too but alright. I don't want to sound rude but the points you brought up weren't really convincing. Sure, the newer gens are rushed, but they defintely don't suck. Gen 7 had one of the best story out of all the main series alongside a wonderful villain, a memorable cast, a new formula that finally breaks from the old overused system (kahunas and islands), new pokemons...
Totally see your point and don't necessarily disagree. The emerald/platinum thing is just cuz I remember the distinct differences at the end (sky pillar and distortion world) whereas for USUM I don't really remember the differences besides fusing necrozma - but that's why I mentioned I didn't wanna comment too much on those cuz I genuinely don't remember them as well !
I am curious, and i dont mean this in an "old man yells at the clouds" kind of way. But, how old are you? I am basically the same age as pokemon +/- a few months, started the series with Blue and then silver on my gameboy color, and have owned games from every generation, I was so deep into the franchise throughout the 2000s-2010s, and still am today, but that was my childhood. I say all that to point out, that while we call gen 5 a banger/classoc now, theres a reason its "underappreciated". I think we have on a lot of the rose tinted glasses, as at the time it was not well received at all, the fans were already getting tired of the "pokemon formula" and gen 6 was a huge over correction from pokemon. For example, dragon was broken and dominated competitive. So, here comes the shiny and new fairy type, which then proceeded to dominate competitive lol but then ORAS came and it was like holy hell, gen 3 with gen 6 updates, one of the greatest pokemon games ever. A little too hand holding sure, but a modern classic. And, rather unfortunately this was at the time of the social media boom with the new generation of players rolling in as well. I feel like this turned into a bit of a rant... My point being, if you are around my age, a lot of us see the new games as getting worse, but they've always been not great, we just got older, and they started getting made for gen z/alpha, I dont agree with their decision to dumb certain things down, but if you go into it knowing that is how it is, and just like playing pokemon, the new games are fun, way more pokemon with a ton of variety, way, WAY better move sets available (free my boy Sky Uppercut), no HMs, better character models, no everstone haunter. Im glad you're a fan of gen 9 as I agree, its probably the best in a long time, but this is also nearing the end of the switches life, which pokemon historically starts console lifes poor and then gets better later, think D/P vs B2W2. I think they are taking strides, and listening to us all a bit more. And I hope the trends continue and we can all keep enjoying poke.on for ywars to come. Rant over, sorry.
Just in case it gets read this way: I'm not a game freak meat rider, and I know there are issues, trust me I know, saying they have always been not great was more of a "try to have fun and temper expectations a bit" than a "Game freak is S++ tier and do no wrong" sentiment. There are absolutely things they could do better, they are the highest grossing media franchise of all time, I wish they made some more games per generation than feeling the need to pump out new stuff every 3/4 years to fill merchandising cycles, I wish they made the games a bit harder, or just had more challenge mode type options. I'm not a complacent/ ignorant fan. Just realized as I got older that pokemon will probably always be made for kids, and to nit pick it, while often deserved, is more of me getting older and more critical than anything. But who knows, anything can happen. You got a like and some new eyes from me, hope your journey through the gen 6+ games goes well!
It kind of sucks how after Gen 6, most generations didn’t even give us over 100 new Pokémon. I am not saying that Post-Gen 6 didn’t have its bangers, but it is weird how very little new Pokémon they added over the years.
@@MontyMoleLoreMaster why is that weird? it's a logical development, the more pokemon designs exist the harder it gets to design new ones. especially if you don't want new mons to simply replace the old ones.
I played pkmn blue, crystal, emerald, leafgreen, platnuim, soulsilver, black, white 2, Y, Alpha Sappire, moon, ultra moon, lets go eevee, sword and (dlc), legend arceus, shining pearl, violet with dlc. And I can say that all games are the best. (completed national Dec in all games and pokedex)
nothing will scare or horrify me more than hearing that blasted ghetsis theme, and almost four generations later, we got the most mid or bad evil teams ever to exist ( yes, I'm looking at YOU Team Star and Yell.. ) I miss where villains were.. yknow, villains instead of this slow and lazily slop cocomelon bad guys that just exist like a dora the explorer swiper episode..
can u please not pretend like ur opinion is some objective truth and stop assuming that its something everyone agrees on? it rlly annoys me when ppl state how they feel abt things as fact😭 i absolutely LOVE pokemon SM and USUM, i love the story, the characters, the music, the battles, and the USUM postgame is genuinely amazing, like one of the best postgame plots in all of pokemon in my opinion. i genuinely adore team skull so much too, ya boi guzma is the BEST!! i also rlly rlly love kahunas and trials and stuff, i think its very sweet and unique and since kahuna is a real hawaiian word for expert/master in a specific field and they were kinda seen as community leaders, it feels very fitting. i absolutely adore how much the game puts effort into respecting and representing hawaiian culture.i know its not perfect at all but its definitly one of the most accurate and respectful depictions in the mainstream which is pretty cool considering its coming from a japanese perspective. i love the aether foundation as the villains too, i mean the fact that they literally tried to recreate GOD is genuinely terrifying. i also personally kinda like z-crystals, i dont think they were needed but the animations were cool as hell!! i dont have much connection to X and Y personally but i rlly love the AZ plot and story and all that a lot. its been ages since i played them but i do think theyre rlly sweet games. team flare takes itself a bit too seriously i think tho lol. how dare u call ORAS lackluster tho, its like a 1000 times upgrade to the original, minus the 3d cuz RS felt a lot nicer in 2d sprites imo. this is just u deducing why u personally dislike these later games, which is completely fine and valid, but there is no objective downfall of pokemon or whatever, it just kinda doesnt appeal to u anymore for personal reasons. i dont rlly care for scarlet and violet, i think personally theyre kinda blagh. one of the main reasons i love pokemon games is the story and the villain teams, thats why gen 5 is my all time favorite generation and gen 7 i absolutely adore too, and thats why i didnt rlly enjoy scarlet and violet but loved legends arceus. i also dont rlly think we need the constant one-upping with the new gimmicks, but i completely understand why ppl love it. i also dont rlly care abt there being new pokemon, as i said i care way more for the stories and lore and the themes and feelings they're trying to get across, new pokemon are a sweet extra to a story for me. this was a good video, but it very much felt u were trying to speak from objectivity when its rlly just how you feel abt things.
Title resonates so much with me lol. I dipped after X and Y because of their brain-off gameplay, limited dex, and horrible story. Nothing I saw in Sun and Moon+ beyond peaked my interest and so I thought that I'd just grown out of the franchise... but replaying some of the games on emulators 10 years on and I can confidently say that no, BW/2 was the last competent generation of Pokémon. Haven't played Scarlet and Violet though so I don't know how it shakes up, but if it's anything like Sword and Shield... yikes. Oh well, it'll sell because Pokémon fans will tolerate slop no matter how egregious.
Black and White 2 will always be my favorite games. I’m not quite as fond of the originals even though they were my first games. I honestly do not like any of the Sinnoh games very much. The postgame in particular is not fun. I didn’t like Heart Gold that much either but I played the beginning of the game years before the rest and my team was hot garbage so I’m willing to accept that I should replay those before forming an opinion. For Emerald I also had a hot garbage team so I didn’t really like the game. Might need to replay that too. I enjoy X and Y for being pretty simple to replay and I liked ORAS. Sword and Shield are just really fun despite all their issues and the DLC was peak. PLA’s unique gameplay style truly does make it the best Pokémon game in recent history. Let’s Go Eevee was kind of mediocre but the multiplayer was fun. I liked BDSP the first time but honestly Sinnoh just feels mediocre to me. Probably still better than the Gen 4 versions but the lack of Platinum content stings. Scarlet and Violet also felt mediocre outside of some good Pokémon designs, music, and storylines. Not even the DLC saved it this time. I really liked Crystal (Typhlosion starter) but I’m not sure how much of that was the novelty of seeing how sophisticated Pokémon was even back in the GBC era. I liked Gold less but I picked Feraligatr and his stats were weird. Is the fact I find the games more fun when I have strong Pokémon a bad thing? Gen 1 is fun in a grind-fest teambuilding way but not on the same level as most of the other games. I loved Moon the first time I played it as a kid, mainly because of the story. I didn’t even play Ultra Moon when it came out. The burnout was real. When I did, it felt like mostly the same game but with a worse story and some differences that felt more strange than interesting at the time. Did not enjoy that much despite it having more content than the original. Also need to replay Gen 7 but I’m not sure which to do first (normal or Ultra).
Mainly story I would say. I thought a lot of the mons were cool, but I think I could say that for every gen. I loved the region in general, it was very fun to explore the open world. I enjoyed the dlc and a lot of the characters were very well done imo. (But also could just be recency bias and im willing to admit that 😅)
@@PokemonRangerJacksonI want to hopeful, too, but considering how everything is supposedly going to be crammed into one city and how megas are most likely just the new alphas/nobles, I'm incredibly skeptical.
Im 30 and Gen 6 is my first pokemon game. I love it so much I cant hate on it. I see your points about having few legendary pokemon but to me it was the journey that was fun not so much catching the strongest legendary. You talked about rivals and I see what you mean but I saw them more as friends. I do agree that a 3rd game should've been made but at least we're getting a remake.
I have been playing (and replayed) Pokémon games since Red and Blue came out and I will DEFINITELY tell you that if I had a dollar for every time I heard and/or read articles and threads online that said "*Insert gen game here* sucks" during it's release (Yes, even when Red and Blue came out) only to have the same people retract those statements down the line years later and say they are great games, I'd have enough money to buy GameFreak. Every gen game is unique and have both great and questionable choices. But I will definitely say that everybody, including myself, has a right to have a least favorite. Just don't say a gen is bad during it's release only to change your mind years down the line. That comes off as hypocritical.
@@silverlane6610 peak music, peak region, peak enemy team, peak pokemons. Unlike one game, it made ALL the Pokemon in a new style, and did not create the second part for this. Well, also the 6th generation Pokemon win in quality, not quantity (if you forget about the 50 new forms, which is why there are more new Pokemon in the 6th generation than in some other generations).
@@evillarry9388 At the same time, when the 6th generation is thrown into the mud because of the complexity, for some reason everyone does not go into detail about the fact that the 5th generation, with which it is compared, had different difficulty levels that DO NOT WORK(different levels without stat changes? Wow). And the gym leaders of these generations have the same number of Pokemon, lol.
You conveniently leave out how painfully easy Kalos was. That’s singlehandedly the worst part about that gen and completely eliminates the replay value
