Primal might be Genndy Tartakovsky's best show yet, and today I want to show you why. Come find out how Primal is Adult Swim's best show #primal #adultswim Support me on Patreon: / hatsoffmedia Follow me on Twitter: / hatsoffmedia
Did anyone else get goosebumps at the end of season 1 when Spear actually said a single word? I did. If Primal taught me anything is that a simple idea can be complex.
Primal is without a doubt the greatest masterpeice that Tartakovsky has created up to date! he's an absolute genius! and season 2 has been getting awesome so far!!!
Man, Primal is just pure *art*, no other way to describe it. And you've nailed the appeal of the show just about perfectly, especially that analysis of how it all begins. Thank you so much for making this video, and I fully agree we need more people talking about this right about now, when the show is fast reaching its climax.
One of my favorite things about Primal is just how much Gendy let's his fandom fly. So many references and vibes of Robert E. Howard, even down ti the character names, the first story REH ever published was called Spear & Fang. And through out Gendy's back-catalogue, you can see Primal coming. There's an episode of his Clone Wars series where Anakin fights Ventress, and Anakin stands on a cliff yelling down lightsaber in hand, it was like a rough draft for this series.
Literally my favorite show on tv right now, maybe of all time. It's so good, I wish more people have seen it. They are truly missing a work of art. Have a feeling this is gonna be one of those shows that people will rediscover years later and be like OMG WHERE WAS THIS SHOW Those background images could literally be framed in a museum.
Easily one of the greatest shows ever spawned! We as an audience needed something unapologetically brutal yet beautiful at the same time! Completely breathtaking, I can't tell you how grateful it is seeing a story captivate you while giving the urge to roar in favor of Spear and Fang! It's something welcomed and needed!
I just binge-watched both seasons over the course of 3 days in my time off. It is NOT NORMAL that I reflect on time I spent binge-watching TV and think, "yeah, that was a good use of my time." Primal is one of those rare exceptions, where time spent on it noticeably enriched my mind and soul. I'm thrilled that it exists, but totally shocked that it's two seasons deep and I never heard anyone talking about it. I just saw it on Max under an Emmy heading and decided to check it out with no prior knowledge about it. I have told all my friends that they have to watch it.
Love your highlighting of various individual artists (Erica Worthylake and Christian Schellewald), giving the smaller artists the love they deserve, rather than just giving the 1000th piece of Genndy praise.
I thought my coworker and I were the only ones who watched this show. Every week we talk about it. Season 1 was incredible and season 2 so far has been really great too. Fantastic vid 👍🏾👍🏾
I just decided to watch this show this past week and I'm hooked. It's absolutely amazing story telling without a word. There's nothing I don't love about it.
This show is brilliant. It honestly has made me tear up on multiple occasions because I love how it deals with tragedy and trauma. I really like it when my art imitates life and does not pull punches. It has probably some of the strongest female characters I've seen in a modern show(Lula, Rikka, Mirra) with an insane amount of diversity. Not that those are super important to me but it does representation right when so many other shows can't. The art and sound design are just phenomenal along with perfect visual storytelling I honestly am getting excited just thinking about it. Great video and channel
I've just finished the first series and love it! I like to watch nature documentaries and this show really had that feel despite the gorgeous witchcraft and such. 1000% agree with the vid on this point.
I JUST said in a video that this show is being mad slept on and was worried I was exaggerating. Glad somebody else noticed. I need people to start watching this show who aren't animation nerds so we get more like it and not another twitter revival campaign.
You could be right, seeing as Primal Theory was a back door pilot idea Genndy has for the future of the franchise. Either this season could be the end of Spear and Fang or there could be more
Bruh within the first ten minutes i was heart broken, pissed, then uplifted. JUST TO BE HESRT BROKEN AGAIN. gosh i love this show and just found it this afternoon
I feel like if you want primel to get the attention it truly deserves, it should be on HBO max, disney plus, Amazon, or even Netflix, that way people will mostly notice it, because ofcourse it won't get enough viewers to on adultswim channel
Primal was one of the best new series in years. I like Gendy's new show, too, but it doesn't touch Primal. Felt like prehistoric Conan the Barbarian, and I dig it. Deserved another season, but for the most part, I think it had a satisfying ending. This show should be taught in art school when explaining the power of visual storytelling and how to do it well. A great visual story doesn't need dialog if it's being told effectively. Primal really was one of a kind.
That's because if the cartoon critics dont talk about it, how do people over seas know about Primal, if the cartoon community are not drawning and sharing art of Primal IT dose not catch on to others that there is another good show
Cable is steadily on the way out. Not sure how this show has been performing on HBO Max but I get that a more recent show like this would have a tougher time gaining an audience in the current year than bigger shows on Adult Swim or just in general.
Honestly, Primal just feels like another version of Conan just with a more prehistoric setting and I love it for that. Considering with the most recent episode, it sort of feels that since the story of Conan takes place in a alternate history of some sorts.
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY MORE PPL DON'T TALK ABOUT PRIMAL. It shows the fragility of life and circle of life in the most aggressive also calm way. It's overall just amazing. You were so right when you talked about the feeling of knowing something you're watching is a masterpiece. It's rare, but this damn show did it.
