The scene about the 20 dollars has been a big part of my life, ive used it as a test many many times and it's never failed me. Had a similar experience when I won a large chunk of money on the lottery. While waiting for payment to come through, I did the same thing, asked several people to borrow monet without telling them about the lottery payment coming. It saved me alot of headaches, you can't imagine the people who come out of the gutters when they hear you won some money and it wasn't even alot of money less 10 grand. I had friends parent calling with sob stories asking for money, it was so sad. I had a few people get mad saying that it's not like I worked hard for the money and why was I being so unfair to them and not giving them any. Crazy crazy crazy. I almost wish everyone could have a similar experience, it hurts, but it really exposes your real friends.

Lol I won 6 grand on a penny machine at the casino one time and the same shit happened to me. I was young at the time, I think 19. I gave away the majority of that money. 2500 went to mother and siblings, I bought my best friend a brand new PS3.. I also gave my buddy 1000 dollars. He had gifted me 1000 months earlier when he turned 18 and got several hundred thousand dollars (potowatomi money). He didn't expect me to pay him back. But I had the ability to so I did.

I like Michael Francese's take on love vs fear: fear only works until they fear something else more which is why so many guys turn rat but it's a lot less common to give up those you love no matter what they threaten you with.

This concept of 'availability,' is brilliant and very true. I know that even people who are business owners....so many times, they do well, being available all the time to their staff and their customers, but when they get bigger , at times they do ' absentee management,' and it all falls apart. For morale sake and to keep the 'train on the tracks,' you have to be there, to be tough and be kind.

One of my favorite movies. The scene that stuck with me the most, was when Sonny was talking to "C" about Mickey Mantel. It just validated a long held belief I had. Even at a young age, I never believed in the concept of role models or idolizing the famous. Always understood that everyone is flawed and that people are selfish by nature.

Is actually better to be loved than feard because people only fear when they have no choice.soon as someone more fearsome comes along they'll all betray u.whereas if ur loved then people give their loyalty willingly regardless of wether there are more dangerous folks about and if u love someone u automatically have fear also because u will fear letting down/betraying/hurting that person

I have often said that if any COLLEGE STUDENT today is taking a psychology course he or she could guarentee themselves an 'A' or 'B'+' by doing a case study on The Godfather, A Bronx Tale, or Love & Basketball. For example, a case study on the character of the 3 sons of Vito Corleone in The Godfather would surprise the hell of the professor!!

All 4 of you seem to have missed the point of it all. It’s better to be loved. The cost of living that life and being feared is having real love in your life. It looks good on the outside, but it means absolutely nothing. I had the most love to lose and I threw it all away. Now I’m scratching and clawing to get back what little love I can get here and there. It devalues yourself as a person, you become worth less. Choose love, more specifically, choose Jesus. He’s the truth. Everyone wanting to be “smart” and “business minded” is why this whole world has fallen so quickly. We’re all buying into the bs and there’s less love to go around. Women won’t even consider a young guy unless he’s a criminal of some kind and has no shame when he does something stupid. It’s like they look at shame as the worst thing you can have, but we need it. Without shame, there’s no such thing as self respect. If you know money is the root of all evil, shouldn’t it be the last thing your heart chases? Do you trust God to provide or not? And if the answer is no, you should either reassess your relationship with God like many of us have to, or don’t claim Jesus because trusting in Him is the whole deal. There’s no good without Jesus. He’s in all of us, it’s our decision whether to choose Him or the lies of this world like cheating is ok if you got your priorities straight. You listen to that macavellian garbage, you’ll slowly rip yourselves apart and you’ll have to climb your way out. It’s the hardest thing you’ll ever do. Just trust Jesus. He’s the only truth their is. The loser of a war is seen as the winner depending on who’s in power of the government. But the Truth will always remain as the lies continually drift in and out of purpose

All he had to do is keep was to keep his nose clean, stay in school & go to auditions [i.e. casting agent: "oh, that's the kid that was in Bronx Tale & he has a letter of reference from Robert DeNiro"]. But instead he gets into drugs, a cop gets killed; well you know the story. As the line movie states, "the saddest thing in life is wasted talent".

But I understand your opinion, just think it’s shallow. Please don’t be insulted, I think many people have an easy answer to a complex problem until it’s in their own home or family. And Chaz is a fair weather friend, and I hate to use friend in that sentence, he never was one !

I'm not surr how much I believe the Bronx Tale to be 100% authentic.. if it's a real story, than who's the real Sonny?? I mean he was potrayed as a heavyweight guy in that life, yet we have no clue who the actual man was when you do research on the movie?? For some reason that doesn't sit well with me... in non fictional mob movie you know who these people are in real life and you can look them up online and read about them in real life.. not this "Sonny" guy tho..

Chazz, you rang up seven married, working men and embarrassed them by asking to borrow 10 grand? We're supposed to respect that? A Bronx Tale is a cliched, middle of the road, mob-melodrama that is slightly elevated by Chazz and De Niro's performances. We're not talking about a philosophical masterpiece here. Always respected Chazz but asking working men for 10 grand so that you can hold it over them later? Thats not my idea of decency. These lot get carried away, showing off to each other how hard they think they are. Again, this is not a trate I associate with decency or masculinity. Pathetic. If you're interested in a mob story that is also a philosophical masterpiece, go to The Sopranos.
