I'm lost for words as to how really sad this is. Nothing in my vocabulary can encapsulate what a dire mess this all is. Well done Charlie!! A great video.
Well done Charlie , seen it all on TV a few weeks ago it's sickening how they are doing this... And we all pay decent water bills for them to look after this.
Thanks - and yes - we pay enough to help their parent company to make £300 million in a year. Hearing that politician attempt to validate a hike in bills left me fuming
Thanks - loads of other anglers I’ve spoken to have strong feelings about it but feel powerless to do anything so hopefully social media can do some good for a change.
Welsh Water (not for profit) do pay out 'Internal and external Member' Shareholder annual dividends...which includes the NRW and Environment Agency who are their Pension Fund(EAPF) Shareholders.
Both depressing and infuriating in equal measures... it really is a crisis . My local Warwickshire Avon is exactly the same , as are rivers nationwide as you know . I read this week that even the River Test is now ear marked for sewage discharges ..
Yes, a national scandal and I feel your pain. The problem with such blatant injustices is that it risks wears us down to the point of believing it’s not worth fighting. Speaking to fairly influential anglers in confidence, I’ve found this to be the case. Perhaps now the chalkstreams are getting sewaged, they will speak up more. It’s made more difficult because these businesses are so rich they can afford to pay off the people that would be campaigning against them. Thanks for commenting and I hope someone can speak up for the Warwickshire Avon - it’s a river I’ve not fished but thought about fishing a few times.
A really excellent video. This has been going on for so long. It's quite appalling. Just how do you reverse privatisation? It seems to be the only way to gather adequate resources to deal with what is a fundamental part of our well being.
last year a couple were testing the water at Hollicombe beach, i asked if the water was clean, they said they thought it was pretty good, the air smelt fresh and clean,,, the very next day a putrid smell as i walked to sit in the sun ? made me think they knew the test was being carried out and the following day knew it was safe to release again ?
@@Fishwish maybe talk to Good Law Project ? damned good people,,,, get locals everywhere to test and send in, would need to be a free test, but it could help them build a case strong enough to get justice backed by the public and safe water,,, post office type
Have you heard or follow BART? I’m going to be one of their river detectives, and will be testing the water quality of Siston Brook which runs into the Avon. I think it would be worth you getting in touch Charlie.
Hi Tim, Yes I keep tracks with what BART are doing and have met up with them a couple of times now. Not heard anything of them on this particular matter, but did last year. I guess their hands are tied slightly because of their working relationship with Wessex Water, who presumably part fund or stakehold certain projects?
