@@GinaLuciaReads haha thanks. I just really like having multiple formats and genre going at the same time. It really helps me with reading more and more
Reading multiple books is the best, I loved when Hercule Poirot fell in love with the vampire that shines and defeated the queen of hearts together while talking about how to improve your life in 6 easy steps.
Love this... Usually read three books at a time: The Bible, one fiction and one non fiction... This givs perspective on why that formula is so good for me, since when I lose pace is when I've try to read multiple books of the same genre at the same time.
Ah yes, I've not tried reading more than one in the same genre, that may we'll be hard! I was considering doing it this week and then I changed my mind haha.
I recently just started reading 2 books at once. In the past, it could take 1-2 months to finish a book depending on how interesting it was. But ever since I started reading 2 at a time, I have managed to finish 5 books in 3 weeks! I usually do a thriller and a romance, or a romance and a fantasy, just to keep the genre’s separate! It’s helped me stay focused and interested in reading!
I read many books at once, and usually allot about 5 to 10 minutes to most of them. A few of them are so captivating that they get a lot of minutes. In this way I progress methodically through a pile of books. And I don't force myself to read every last page of a non-fiction book.
Great video. I have to say my reading practice became a lot more fun (and more 'productive') by dropping these beliefs:don't read more than 1 book at a time, once started you have to finish, and when you read a book you have to read every bit of it. So, I usually read 2 or 3 books at a time, when I don't like it, I toss it aside, and when I get to boring bits, or things I already know, I skip those parts. Works for me.
@@GinaLuciaReads indeed, it's not that easy to let go of. I sometimes still have the idea that I 'need' to finish a book, or read one I don't like. But, as you said, reading is for fun, not a chore.
Hello. I don't know if anyone is still commenting as this video is three years old, but I found it validating because this is what I do normally. I don't advertise this fact because I think I must be weird or something. However I excelled in school and, while there, we were always reading multiple books. Recently I started using book apps to track my reading and that helps me stay on track. Also recently I finished three books within 3 days of each other and that was especially rewarding as everything was completing at the same time. I hope this is helping my brain as I learned multiple languages when I was younger.
Great video. I love how you mentioned that if you enjoy a book, even if you put it down for a bit, you'll pick it back up again. If you don't, then you probably weren't all that interested in the book.
I tend to have one book hardback and one on audible at the same time! This is really interesting! Maybe I should add a non self-developemnt book to my options!
I have never read more than 1 book at a time but I can totally see why it would be good. It seems to also mean I will approach a book fresh rather than burning out from a long fiction read.
Im currently reading a book called Sophie's world, which I've been really enjoying! problem is it's long and I'm struggling to get through the end of it... I might take up your advice on a second book 😁
This Vid suggestion just pop up🥰 I love how easy you showing the benefits of reading more than one book at a time, being a Pro as urself hehe, and the comparison of watching multiple series make so much sense📚Ty for Sharing and wash away the old myth, that we must read one book at the time 😎💖
I have a tendancy to indulge in my book reading and start reading books while I haven't finished others (I'm reading 3 at the moment). But I'm afraid that due to the lack of concentration on one book and its set of concepts, that I will retain less of what I read and will interrupt the train of thought that the author is trying to evoke in the reader. I almost exclusively read non-fic and I'm not sure if this is a bad habit that I should stop out of fear of getting less from books and scattering the ideas therein thereby attenuating the depth of my understanding. Thoughts?
I always have 2 or 3 on the go at a time. One of the books will get more time than the others but when I need a break from that main book then I jump to one of the others instead of doing something other than reading. So in this way I do get more reading done like you suggested in your video. Thanks for your video. It was interesting.
Awesome topic Gina, it's great to have more options rather than sitting on the book and never even finish that book! Its for the mood as well, you have different books for the kind of moods you have! Will take this great perspective Gina, we need to give this a try!❤️
Ah yes absolutely. Some days I'm tired and just can't bring myself to read a non-fiction book. Other days I'm all up for it. So it makes sense to have options that's for sure!
Ahh I LOVE this video!!!! You explain everything so well, and make very very good points here! Personally I LOVE reading many books at once, I have read up to 9 books at the same time, because it depends on what mood I'm in. Usually now I read between 2 and 4 books at the same time. It doesn't matter how fast I read or when I finish each book! I never worry about this because I enjoy reading them, period! It's exactly like you said, we can browse through many tv series and not watch the ones we don't like, but I also watch a few different series at once as it depends what mood I'm in! Same with books. Usually I have 2 fiction or fantasy book and one thriller/crime and one self-development/non-fiction book! Thanks for this video though, it's great to be reminded of the incredible benefits of reading more than one books at once! ANNNNDDD I LOVE the House of Lucia! everyone who hasn't checked it out yet should! 🤩Can't wait for next week's video!
Ahhhh yes exactly! Having different books for different moods makes total sense doesn't it. And you're right, it doesn't matter how slow or fast you get through them all because that's not the point at all. And awww thanks hehe. I'm loving being able to talk to people that's for sure.
I used to read four books at a time. One upstairs, one downstairs, and one at work, plus an audiobook for the walk to work. Now I just read two at once - one at home and one audiobook while walking. Currently, the at-home book is "The Neil Gaiman Reader" - a 700+page collection of selected fiction. Audiobooks tend to be classical literature like Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, etc.
Oh wow I just looked up the Neil Gaiman one and the reception seems to be really great. I bet it will take a while to get through! I've never been able to get into audiobooks but I bet they're perfect for long walks!
I read up to seven books at the same time if we count audiobooks. I listen to one brainy book (currently Sapiens), a book to relax (currently: Name of the wind), and one that my partner and I listen to during car drives or when we cook together (currently: Dune). Reading: as mentioned in the video, one for the brain (currently: Immune), one fiction book for fun (currently: Love in the time of cholera), and one that teaches me something about my hobby (books about gardening, plants). It makes me read a lot during one year because I always have something to reach for. Unfortunately until this day I wasn’t able to not finish a book, even if I hated reading it.
I used think it is wrong to read more than one book. I often read two books. Currently reading a Christian nonfiction and a history book. The history book I can read when I am tired and don't feel like making annotations
Currently reading 3 books at once, one of them being atomic habits! I have the audio version and I love it for on the go but I wanted a physical copy I can mark up😂
Another tip... read while you walk! I know a lot of people say it's dangerous but I am careful and have trained myself well. I always put the book down when crossing the street. And I am still relatively young (66) and don't have balance issues. Many young people are glued to their cell phones while they walk, so why can I read a book while perambulating????
I’m trying that I’m reading the Malazan book of the fallen I’m almost at the end of book 9 and I’m buying more books faster than I can read them so I need to do that but I like to finish the book, I have Brandon Sanderson elantris and warbraker and mistborn, and stormlight archive, can I read Brandon Sanderson books along with the one I’m reading Malazan book of the fallen?
7 books at time and randomly . I'm afraid am going to blow it. Given that am a green hornet in that field. Since i begin i can't help my self and curiosity push me what lies in other books which i bought them and downloaded them. Real issue. Till now. I didn't finish one book though i read a lot .
I stated 110 books (the Oldest i stop becouse one character died and one become a alcoholic, i still can not finish it becouse i am afraid what is going to Happen to the character, it is about 5 years) 19 are short story books. I had a 2 year reading slup becouse of health isues and i am not back where i was befor. I have read about 900+ befor the slup. This year i am at 53 books read with about 60% audiobooks. Where i Prior only read physical books.
I’m only doing two physical books at a time along with ebook and sometimes an audiobook, because I’m doing to physical books to start me of because my TBR has more fantasy books, a ,edium sized thriller, and ample and s,aller size othere genres so the genre books are technically unbalanced the now.
I really need to put my phone down and get into reading… I just play on my phone when I’m pumping breastmilk for my bubba but maybe I should switch it out for a book
As an 'O level school student I would read several books at a time from the first to the last page. The school books (including literature, science, history etc) and whatever I found on the shelves at home. Now I'm reading One Thousand Nights and a Night (Arabian Nights: the first of eighteen volumes) The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa, The Politics of Experience and the Bird of Paradise by R.D. Laing and A Child's Garden of Verses from Robert Louis Stevenson. Can anyone ever really 'finish' a book ...?
I read about 7 books at a time. I pick the story I like best. I'm not afraid to throw out a book completely. Minimalist. Fun/excitement is the deciding parameter. Admit bad choices. Learn.
