Kind of loses the magic of how cultures have made wishes for 1000s of years if it becomes a card transaction! Reminds of that Might Boosh episode where the Fountain of Youth gets upgraded to an Ikea shower unit 😅

⛲ fountains in Rome still encourage the throwing of coins . For the Roman Baths a wishing well could be constructed specifically to make the collecting of coins easier🤞🏻🌠

Give out(or sell) newly forged (inert) replica roman coins upon admission specifically for tossing into the well. That way revenue is collected up front, tradition can be maintained, and draining and maintenance can be done far less often.

Would not work for it is a extra step 2 many. Most would then choose not buy at all. Like they say go woke go broke, but this time its go cashless go broke.

Only cash matters anyway. This push for cashless society is not healthy imho. It makes people depended on constant online status and permission to use the own money (.. by a central or at least the banks authority)

It was an informative and wonderful historical coverage video about the Roman public Bath....in Britain 🇬🇧...also ancient Roman peoples had cash throwers traditional into bath pools... Maybe some people practiced the same ancient traditions and had the same miracle, believing ... thank you 🙏( hidden history) channel for sharing

How can it waste water by draining the baths? Surely the spring that fills it and that's been flowing there for thousands of years doesn't actually charge for it 🤔

Defenestration of bath management is in order.

Simple solution build a small fountain out of Bath stone site near the pool ? make it look Roman and the cash will be back again 👍👍

Yes, we should be able to put cash in the pool.

Visiters should definitely be allowed to throw coins into the pool. The story about having to empty the pool to retrieve the cash is nonsense, a swimmer could retrieve the coins easily. What's more a non-cash society would be a very dangerous hellish dystopian future for humanity. Can't people see the writing on the wall.

In 1978, someone who went into the pool at Bath died from an amoebic parasitical infection. Out of caution, people are actively discouraged from swimming in it now.

I find it hard to believe that throwing coins in water “damages “ a structure…

The point of throwing money into water it is for children to make wishes, not typically though of a way to donate to something.

Use only real silver, it's sanitary.

Why on Earth go to England to look at Roman structures? Unlike Germany and Scandinavia, the English could not defend themselves and apparently a few "Baths" were built there too because the English did not shower until then.
