In 1994, at the age of 24, Richmond native Kemba Smith was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison for a drug crime that she says she did not commit.
The story captured the nation during the height of the war on drugs and became a story about the flaws of mandatory minimum sentencing laws. Now, more than two decades later, the story is being transformed into a film which will soon air on B.E.T.
