If you were able to tell someone about the feeling of riding motorcycles, how would you describe it. Can it be explained or do you just have to try it our for yourself?

It a way to recharge your soul .... it's not about the destination it's about the journey ....

A bit like you ….. I am beginning to ‘slow down’. Stopped enjoying my H2 SX as much as I used to and sold it as was enjoying my speed twin more. Enjoying the more relaxed riding vs the ‘pressure’ to go faster when you have a really fast bike.

Riding revitalizes the senses.

My style is definitely leisurely, well paced, without the need for speed. I hate traffic. Yeah, lorries 🚚, we call 'em trucks on this side of the pond, are the worst! 😮 Scooting around on a motor between two wheels is just a fun way to get nowhere... definitely journey over destinations! 😅 marcus

Not sure of the "swish" traffic. Doesn't sound like manly, intentional traffic! The leisurely approach does seem most rewarding for riders of a certain maturity, not unlike myself... I even savor awaiting the traffic woes as they untangle. At worst I've an elevated perch to watch the show! You've put prose to the wondrous sensations, and you're correct in the insulated travel of "cagers." They have no basis of understanding the 'gut-happy' of being, when riding one's ride. It's a satisfaction that feeds on all the senses you name, and maybe a bit of the paranormal? Short of strapping your non-riding mate to the top of your car and taking him for a spin, he won't get it. Those who don't ride are missing a great, sanity inducing evolution.

I agree. I have always racked the miles on my motorcycles. When I see them for sale used, it always amazes me the low miles most of them have. That tells me they did not care to ride or they did not like riding. Thank you for the videos because of people like you I service my own Harley.

I’m much more a ‘ the journey is the destination’ type of rider now, though l do like to have some themed destination to aim at , usually something to look at or visit.

It is the best thing to do, but it’s a very expensive hobby!

I've spent a couple of years travelling by Vespa from the UK - Cyprus - Azerbaijan - UK. I am at my happiest travelling and my son says I become miserable when I am in one place for more than a couple of weeks. Thankfully my wife shares my lust for being on the road and often accompanies me, but not being able to ride is my own personal hell.

Some people seem to be the polar opposite and apparently only ever want to drive/ride with another vehicle inches in front of them😂 never understood that

The younger generation have little or no interest in reality. They are cocooned in their digital artificial lives. Most cannot hold a "words spoken" conversation and typically use a digital app for virtually all things. Like you, I grew up playing real sports, climbing trees, fishing, biking, camping, surfing & boating......all enjoyed pre-internet. The cyborgs of today have 1 interest .......their latest mobile device. For me, I too love tech but real life engagement with all things that this great world has to offer, is what I've done from my first steps back in the 60's I have 2 motorcycles and I'm on 1 (and often both) everyday. Thanks for the Vid 😊

On A roads with a bit of traffic I do the opposite. Back off if you have a clear space and don't rush to catch the next vehicle, match your speed with them so they are far enough ahead not to spoil your space. If you are gaining on them you can get by but then you are on the way to catching the next one that might be diesel. You'll only get there a couple minutes sooner which is a couple minutes you could be riding. On my third Harley since 1988. Tractors tend not to be going a long way on bigger roads but it's a good opportunity to test your patience and a chance to slow your life down. Happy days from sunny Devon.

I ride every day. Sometimes with a destination most times not. Route US 22 is my favorite ride. Back roads. In upstate New York. I agree with you 100 % Shiny side up Alf.. 👍

I retired at 55..lots of golf in the plans and golf lesson gifts...but I bought my first bike..never rode nor sat on a bike before . Got my licence after 16 months ..have done Route 66, the Picos, the Pyrenees , my own Wild Atlantic Way and a lot of Ireland .To me it is a whole new lease on life, my meditation, my mindfulness practice...I'm a new man and have made many new friends through biking ..and yes I'm a Harley rider now..the new Heritage and I love it .

Just returned from a 60 mile / 100 km night ride after visiting my aunt and uncle, both 85, he of course still riding his 900 Bol d'Or. I had again no reason for speeding, because I never want my ride to end too quickly, it was nice and quiet with little trafic, big twin rumble, music on the speakers and moderate temperature. Whenever I am on the bike I am OK, do not know why, night or day, back roads or motorway, even when crowded like this afternoon in both directions, filtering when needed. When rain may arrive during daily holiday trips I still enjoy riding, but of course hope the rain comes to an end before I reach a destination. Best thing to do.
