Have you heard the news about an Ex-Scientiology Officer about John Travolta? Find out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RMZ9Bcckfgk.html
Robert Reed was known to be difficult and the stories of him not getting along with Sherwood Schwartz on the Brady Bunch are legendary. Also, John Travolta is supposed to be one of the nicest stars to both work with and towards fans and he stayed friends with so many he worked with: Olivia Newton John, Kirstie Alley, the guy from Welcome Back Kotter Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, etc.
Robert Reed was a closet homosexual...and Travolta is an alleged closet homosexual. Perhaps that was part of it. Reed was also, though he was talented; a bit of a primadonna. According to gossip.
Robert Reed was playing a police detective on Mannix while doing the Brady Bunch. Granted he was in not every episode as they had an actor Ward Wood who played Art Malcolm. Reed drove Sherwood Schwartz crazy by mentioning how much better the TV scripts of Mannix were better than the Brady Bunch.
I have seen Reed appear on several shows of Mannix. I believe he might have been Mannix's boss. But I'm not sure. And he came on after Joseph Campanella left the show. I still enjoy watching Mannix on ME/TV.
@@FactsVerse I do not think Robert Reed was speaking out of turn by stating the obvious about the Brady Bunch scripts being worse than Mannix. As much I love Mannix, Season Episode 1 Episode 2 Skid Marks on a Dry Run when he was at Intertect is the same script as Season 6 Episode 21 Search for a Whisper. Done to save money. Get to see Yvonne Craig and William Shatner and Norm Pitlik who used to direct episodes of Barney Miller in Season 6. Notable name in Season 1 is Wende Wagner who played the Reid's secretary in the Green Hornet and Vincent Gardenia. If Mannix had not ditched the computer private detective agency and put Gail Fisher in a more conventional detective story, the show would have bombed.
I'm sorry, but who offers a "back rub" to calm a fellow colleague down in a professional environment?? This story has me giving JOEL more of the side eye, than Robert Reed. 😒
Mr. Reed wasn't in the final Brady Bunch episode, though I understand he remained on set to watch. I thought the show's explanation that Mr. Brady was out of town on business was implausible, as that was the episode where Greg graduated high school. I can't imagine a father putting business before his son's graduation.
My father missed my graduation for that exact reason. Some people are very business oriented. I didn't mind. You take your quality time when you can get it.
My dad was home and didn’t go to my high school graduation. He just didn’t go to any of my brothers graduations either. It’s just the way he was… I guess.
The running joke about the Brady Bunch was all six kids had to share one bathroom and what was Mr. Bradys’ occupation but an architect! The other joke was you never saw a toilet because the kids were so wholesome and clean that they didn’t need one. Of course this brings it full circle to your observation that they were so upstanding that Mike Brady would have quit his job before having to miss Gregs’ graduation.
@flintstoner77 I'm sure it was an architectural emergency, like the weren't enough shower heads in the gay bath house he designed. It needed his immediate attention
I didn't know Robert Reed was a bit frustrated on the set, though I don't find it surprising. He did get tired of the Brady Bunch pretty quick and made no bones about it.
"In the early 90s Robert followed in the footsteps of golden age legend Rock Hudson, by passing away from AIDS" what a positively rude statement about anyone.
@@meltondaniels2825 They are indeed facts but it is the disrespect in making it sound sordid, joining Rock Hudson dying of AIDS, why not joining the equally talented screen actor Rock Hudson? No, people like you and Factsverse would rather sling mud for an extra .05 cent earning by being salacious instead of respecting two people that did die because of a horrible disease. Really it's shameful of them and you for attempting to defend it.
"Vinnie Babarino" had a LOT of energy and charisma. He had his own song! "Ba ba ba, ba Babarino". 🤣 I'll bet he ad-libbed that himself. As you see, I remember the tune very well. 🤣👍 I remember that Boy In The Plastic Bubble movie too. This scene where she holds his hand as a JOKE was really touching. There he was TRAPPED as they made fun of him. Most of us could just run away in such a situation.😓 They had a hard time filming Saturday Night Fever because of all his FANS screaming at him from their New York windows and streets. That opening scene where he's walking like a King 👑, he had all of his fans cheering him on. Travolta is such an amazing actor! 👍
I knew Robert Reed was in the movie, but I didn't know the casting director had to give him a (BLOW- JOB) to keep him from walking off the set. WOW. Live and learn.
Robert Reed was Shakespearean trained actor who always questioned the quality of the materials provided to him. He constantly fought over the scripts with The Brady Bunch’s Sherman Schwartz. Many times he refused working until changes were made. Also, he was a perfectionist and had high standards. But at the same, he was very professional and respectful towards his fellow actors and crew. Of course in this case, Reed assumed that he was the bigger actor. So it makes sense that he would have issues with Travolta.
Reed could probably see Travolta was set for superstardom and it drove him crazy that he wasn’t going to be the one going up for Academy Awards and Golden Globes
Lots of times TV producers create a show they think people will like and the audience responds to something in the show that producers don't expect. An example is Steven Quincy Urkel taking over the show Family Matters. Same thing for the show Family Ties which was taken over by Michel J Foxes character Alex Keaton . The people who liked the Brady Bunch like the kids, not the parents.
FV, I remember Robert Reed as a kid from The Defenders with E.G. Marshall and liked the show. He also was good on MANNIX too. He was Handsome and Talented. May He R.I.P. RCJLEO 🦁♌
Robert Reed was a serious actor. He did theatre and I think Shakespeare. He was frustrated with the corny Brady bunch show. He was a snob lol and I hear a big time player. He had issues. Obviously. He was a good actor because he was one of Americas favorite tv. Dad
Most serious actors and actresses were never given legit leading film roles after doing these campy 70's and 60's sitcoms. Agnes morehead, eddie albert, Gilligan's island cast and a bunch of others. Huge type casting then.
Face it. One Actor was young, handsome, talented and going up professionally. The other Actor was the reverse. No doubt there was tension and problems. On and off the Movie Set. No Big Deal. It happens all the time.
Absolutely, we feel the same way! Thank you for sharing your sentiments and for watching our content. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
He never seemed happy about anything he was doing. I guess it must have been hard for him not being able to live openly so maybe thats why he never seemed happy
A great friend of mine was in the closet for over 45 yrs married I would never had suspected him well he came out and told me he was on the verge of suicide constantly!it's got to be awful
Hadn't heard of that particular hissy fit of his, but definitely have heard of his premadonna antics on the Brady Bunch, but this predatory behavior of his and Rock Hudson takes it to a whole other level. Dispicable and Disgusting behavior 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Did he ever like the Work he did ? He is what ended The Brady Bunch. I can tell I wouldn't of liked working with him.. He thought everything was beneath him. And I get Brady Bunch had cheesy lines. And the kids acted younger then their age. But if people are enjoying it count your blessings. Don't argue with the producer the who time. Or the director. From I hear he complained alot. I guess it didn't help he was gay. I was shocked to hear that. He seemed so good with Mrs. Brady..
I hear it a lot of Shakespearian actors, which Reed was one, where they think movies and especially TV was beneath him. Apparently, Reed only took the "Brady Bunch" because he needed the money, and because first choice for his role (none other than Gene Hackman) wasn't available.
@@thejenr8tr922 The Brady Bunch was a prestigious show. The fact that Reed was like this for both BB and "The Boy In The Bubble" shows that he was unprofessional.
Reed should have considered his major money source for all those years, and then shut up. If he didn't like it he should have just left the show. I'm sure the rest of the crew would have adjusted just fine.
John Travolta definitely had no issues with Diana Hyland. The actress who played his mother. They started seeing one another. Perhaps Reed was disapproving of the relationship between them. If so, it was none of his business. I've heard some women who approved of older women that dated younger men, but turned around and called Cary Grant a creep for marrying a much younger Dyan Cannon.
I think it had much more to do with Reed being unhappy with himself and his own situation and projecting it onto everyone else. He was just a miserable man and he took it out on others. It could have been self-hating.
@@jbjacobs9514 That's possible. Some individuals just want to rain on someone else's parade it seems. A lot of employees take their problems with them to work. That makes it extremely difficult to work with them.
@@emmalancaster2013 Well yeah, we both know more men leave their wives for much younger women. And we both are smart enough to know some women will leave their husband for a more wealthier man, and younger if she is lucky. I have a lot in common with looking at a woman from the outside, but nothing at all from the inside. That is my feelings about younger women. It's all about a person reclaiming their youth. Why? They have already lived young. What can Madonna do for a young man? The same thing that Cary Grant did for Dyan Cannon. There's a huge gap of time between the two. It's like taking a time machine backwards, or forward. How does one adjust to that time sphere? It would not be impossible to do so, but it's easier said then done.. If two people make each other happy, and fulfill the expectations, and trust, and give all of their passions to one another, more power to them!
I have heard plenty of anecdotes about Mr. Reed's prima Donna behavior on the Brady Bunch set. He seemed to get along really well with the kids, though, from 2hat I have heard! That's a definite plus!!
No surprise there I bet Robert Reed was so miserable because he was gay and in the closet and he couldn’t be happy with himself sadly that time most actors who were gay were deeply in the closet because society didn’t accept them like they do now Hollywood is a cold cruel place for Gay men even now they’re so many gay men who are still in the closet and afraid to come out
Love Robert Reed he has been gone a long time sounds like Joel isn't very nice whether this happened or not both rock and Robert should be able to rest in peace
I think it's great that the book exposed him as a jerk. It puts all prima donnas on notice that sooner or later folks will realize their true nature. I've seen a few things myself, And do not hesitate to share it as much as possible. Folks like Rick Caruso, Leif Garrett, Tom Cruise, to name a few.
@@wendyladybug355laurie4 basically; I saw one snorting coke white working, one terminate long time employees to avoid covering medical that they were due, and one attempting to get a Paramount handicapped employee fired for accidentally running into him.
So disappointing that Robert Reed was a homosexual. He seemed so normal and cool. I always liked him on the Brady bunch. He must have had a lot of mental issues. I don’t know how any guy can be gay…women are so amazing and hot!
I saw Brady doc that spoke of Reid’s general surliness on set. He was a classically trained actor and resented having to do comedy to make a living. But I also think when you’re closeted it can’t help but make you a bit pissed off at the world a little, especially when you think you need to to make a living.
Yes! Reed wanted to be considered a "serious" actor. He WAS a good actor IMO( See his acting in ROOTS") He probably would have been happier as a Shakespearean actor.
Probably sitcom comedies. I’m sure he wouldn’t at all have minded being in “a Midsummers night, dream,” or “the taming of the shrew.” Both Shakespearean comedies. I dare say the BB scripts didn’t have the same turn of phrase as, say, “ if we shadows have offended, think but this, and all is mended; that you have but slumbered here, whilst all these visions did appear.” I get the resentment.
He played two serious roles in two episodes of Vega$ starring Robert Urich. One episode had Maureen McCormick (yes, Brady Bunch's "Marsha") as his daughter in about the most un-Brady like scenario one can think of. They both played the parts well.
While that can be frustrating to juggle schedules, Robert Reed "was miserable" was a default state - be real. He was a terror on the set of The Brady Bunch. He was unhappy with his existence. Whether it was because gay and it was hard to live with in those times or because he was unhappy with his situation, he just was a real pos.
Robert Reed! Great Actor! Also Hot Head! Him of all people should have realized what show business was all about! John Travolta aka "Welcome Back Kotter's" Vinnie Barbarino Had a Show's commitment! as well as movie "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" Time limit! To me the movie was one of my favorites as well as "Grease" with Travolta! Sad that Diana Hyland aka First Mom Joan Bradford from TV Show "Eight is Enough" Passed away so early! Travolta to me would of played a good Barry Williams aka Greg Brady Fill In! Use to think that they could of passed for Brothers! It's pretty neat that they are around Seven months apart in age!
At first I thought you were gonna say Reed and Travolta were in a relationship at some point in their lives…. So this individual went above and beyond to save a movie….. I wonder, if that casting director was a she and not a he, would things have been different? Would Reed have walked off the set and be replaced by another actor? Maybe Florence Henderson ……? Kidding about that last part! LOL!
Now I know why I instinctively did not like Reed when I saw him in different things: although I didn't like much about the "Brady Bunch" and rarely watched it.
Yep he was well known for being difficult and he felt he was too good for the The Brady bunch sitcom because he was classically trained and thought the show was beneath him.
Let's be honest tho Robert Reed must been bi-polar or really unhappy with his life because it's been reported that he always had issues with other actors or directors very unhappy man.
“Must been bipolar”. “Let’s be honest”…? This is your honesty😂 you don’t even know what you’re talking about. Episodes of depression followed by manic episodes don’t make you hard to get along with. IT’s accompanying mental issues that do that. People have known that since like 1985 🙄
Odd that the casting director would be the one who was so concerned with saving the production money on the makeup job. Or maybe he had additional motivations that he didn't mention.
No doubt working with Travolta was difficult being a spoiled child to begin with and Robert Reed had gained some success and paid the price of having to live a closeted life.... really no drama here and it is redundant that so many channels keep kicking at a dead dog.
Robert Reed was a very lonely soul. Evidently, he was a good actor but away from the camera, Reed, couldn't ever come to terms with his emotions. His frustrations were pent up as he was highly internalized and eventually he would explode. His life was a sad one and I doubt he was very happy - even with his acting.
Don't believe anything bad that Robert Reed says about John Travolta or anyone else for that matter, Robert Reed was just mad that he wasn't the center of the movie! Robert Reed was NOT the star of the TV movie, "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble" John Travolta was!!!!!!!!
I don't know. I understand Robert Reed could sometimes be difficult but the story in the trailer sounds a little far fetched to me. Look up photos of Joel Thurm. He's not exactly an adonis. I'm not buying it.
I think it's tacky to make sad lurid comments about a not so great actor like Robert Reed.I didn't know he died with Aids( In those days especially,a horrible death) to make note of it in this way is sad,and pathetic.Sorry dude, you get a shame on u for this😞
