Why Rockstar Killed Red Dead Online ft. PVPCat 

Great video, but You forgot to mention the most important event in the history of RDO - Discount on BEANS!

In my opinion all they had to do was add random events into free roam where one or multiple trains, stagecoaches, boats, etc. would spawn in and players would have the opportunity to compete against each other or work together to rob these high value, well-defended targets for cash and gold, akin to the old armoured truck robberies and business battles in GTA Online. This would bring everyone back, because it’s literally exactly what everyone wanted. Think about it, what random events are in RDO free roam? An occasional moonshine bootlegger mission, maybe a random bounty target (which pays less then normal bounties), or if you’re lucky you’ll get the millions-to-one odds of a chance encounter or gang hideout to spawn in a public lobby. In GTA public sessions you’d see a session-wide event or business battle spawn every 15 minutes, there’s always something to do. It makes the game feel more active and alive.

Imagine creating a role where you sedate and sample animals before you make a lawman role

Imagine having a wild west game and not having a true bank robery missions pike in gtao. They couldve added cattle rustling, bank robbery, being a lawman, owning property instead of just a camp. Many missed opertunity for a game that was massive at launch the only fun way to play this now is rp servers

24:40 FINALLY someone said this lol. I have absolutely no faith in GTA 6 Online. With how awful GTA 5: Online has gotten over the years and how mid the updates are and how awful the economy of RDR2 was in the beginning, I bet in GTA 6: Online we will have to pay at least 500k for a damn pistol and 1.2m for a 25 year old economy class car. It was painful to watch how my childhood franchise became a joke of itself and how much potential was left unrealized for RDR2.

Red Dead Online is the sole reason i will not be buying GTA6, GTA7, RDR3 or any new or old ip Rockstar touches. I love Red Dead Online, i still play it to this day, and the only way i can forgive R* is if they comeback, fix and update RDO. If they won't do that, then i'm done with them.

sadly, many of the remaining players being grifters who will shoot on sight because they got nothing better to do than forced pvp doesnt help the game, especially with the new player retention. i dont think the game has a future but i would be glad to be proven wrong

Only recently they fixed (or seem to have fixed) the stable glitch. That bug was present for +-2 years and nothing was done until around a month ago. It really feels like they care very little about RDO, and I'm glad we got them the 2023 Steam Awards 'Labor of Love', so they can put it where the sun doesn't shine I came back for the recent update, lots of 2x exp, 2x $ and discounts. I had stopped playing in the past because of cheaters, but now I play in a solo lobby 👍

Even if GTA 6 drops the chance of RDO. Getting more major updates is unlikely especially since they’re gonna focus on what’s profitable like GTA

This is a good ass video. My only argument would be on the point of “Rockstar having to keep GTA 5 & Red Dead Online alive & working on GTA 6” bullshit. Only because two games are already completed. One had a lot of content. The other ones needs content. And GTA seems to be done or almost done. Also this a company that made billions of dollars working on multiple IPS at once for decades. They can definitely handle all of it since we gave them our money.

The sad part is that what we actually need in the game wouldn't require a lot of work from the developers since the features are already there. The banks are already there, the trains, the safes, the camps, the properties...

Imagine owning a train for passive income and at the back carriages is your new space for planning robberies and heists. You could get this train by either doing a set of missions to steal it or out right buy it somehow. I think that would be sick. You can even have a bounty board on your train or where the train sits. Maybe an abandoned train yard or plot of land is bought from the government by the players. At the train yard we could also have Carriages or coaches that are customisable, there’s someone who can fit your carriages with turrets or can upgrade your other role vehicles. Like for the hunting wagon, we can get upgrade the storage capacity. And the bounty hunting carriage can remove some of its armour for speed advantage or can have a steel plate behind the driver with a protection bonus with a speed debuff

i had so many great memories with RDR 1 online. Super disappointing

It’s really sad to see, I started Red dead online a year ago after beating the story mode countless times and was very sad to hear from player encounters that it had been abandoned by rockstar in terms of updates. The only thing we can currently hope for is the continuation of the outlaw pass if that’s a plausible scenario at all. I love this game and even though I like GTA online it’s a bit disappointing that Rockstar doesn’t really care about it anymore

If it tickles your fancy at all, God forbid R* does say fuck it and straight up abandons RDO, you could always try the roleplay servers on RedM (only available on PC), pretty much adds everything that RDO should have been.

I recently just got into RDO and I am sad I never go into it sooner, as someone who also is apart of the GTA community. I can 100% say that Red Dead Online is much more immersive and intriguing; since finishing all the roles I have found myself in a constant loop of what next? none the less i hope that rockstar will change their heart and add more to this game that is more than deserving of getting out of GTAs shadow.

After rdr2o I've almost lost all hope for gta6 or any future rockstar online game. The blind greed and abject ignorance of rampant cheaters has convinced me they just don't care anymore. I can handle the greed if they put a stop to the cheating. It taints every interaction with other players and has been out of control for far too long.

The good news is Rockstar actually made a pretty big update this month, they added new outfits( even Micah’s outfit for free) and double xp for all roles, which is better than nothing.

You missed out the 1.21 Patch that came out in 2020 and how it broke the game for 3 days, Gaming Media was talking about it and Rockstar didn't respond until 3 days after the patch was installed.

It’s still very upsetting that they could never bring a Guarma update in RDO. Also the fact that Rockstar can’t even add a 60FPS for playing RDR2 on PS5. Some of PS4 games that you play on PS5 allow for 60FPS. Why can’t Rockstar add this ? Especially if they won’t release a PS5 version of RDR2 ???

Continued support for GTA Online in to the life span of red dead online really hurt the potential of red dead online. There was very little to do in online at launch and updates needed to come quicker than every 6 months similar to how they did in the early years of GTA online in order for Red Dead Online to be successful.

They didnt care at any Point a our rdr... They made more Money with gta even when a bad update got dropped. Simple as that. Rdr didnt turn out to be worth the Money spent on actual content, plus gta 6 is coming so they decided probably to Milk gta 5, doom rdr in order to develop gta 6.

the way me and my friends dont get bored from RDO's lack of content is roleplays we have done so many new stories and they are perfect(ish) but better then what R* gave us with red dead online

on PC there are many hackers, they will often ruin the game, but you can do private server with your friends. I did some research into all of this, and all of the hacking stuff/ cheat menus appear to cost real money. it also appears they get away with doing this. I think, some people at rockstar made the these cheat programs and released them for money, so that people buy them and ruin the game and it makes everyone stop playing, so rockstar no longer has to support it at all.

Honestly I enjoyed and loved the naturalist role. Not something I wanted but I liked it and it’s very useful for trader role so also I chose this role first over the others because of some role exclusive unlocks.

R* strategy and gameplay are skillfully balanced to guide users towards gold bars, shark cards and gta+ subs. At least for those who don't have plenty of time to play. Others can grind with patience... Be sure it will be the same with future releases.

Im fairly positive that GTA 6 story should be pretty good. But GTA 6 Online? I guarantee it will be shit. GTA 5 Onlines handling surely proves that. Greed is all Take Two cares about and Take Two owns Rockstar Games so yeah... As far as RDR 3? I wouldnt hold my breath... Good points made in the video and always good to see PVP Cat. Hackers giving out free gold actually made the game fun. I was able to buy all the missions Rockstar put a paywall on and actually have some fun (and make my character look good for once)

i dont mind the cheek missions they gave us, or how it is right now, with the monthly updates, i just need new cards, new weapons, add that pistol from story mode

As someone who JUST began RDO last week and is currently a rank 18: the griefers are fucking insane and piss me off. Genuinely, I just wanna do my bounties, find some collectables, explore New Austin a bit, and kill/loot NPCs. I avoid Valentine at all costs, lest I IMMEDIATELY get shot at and downed/killed. Then i respawn and immediately get killed again... Like bro leave me alone😭

I bought a series X and the very first thing i did was download RDR online, the saddest part was saying goodbye to my old angry bounty hunting mexican character since i cant transfer over like we do with GTA online to an alternate console which is total crap. I'll keep playing RDO until they shut the servers down and announce RD3.

Dead eye is secondary aim assist and aim lobbies should be separated like gta 5 online. #SAL #RDEFO -Also ideas I came up with for new content ( Mostly C&P because I didn't feel like typing it again, but also some editing and additional typing done.) I wanna see the zombie stuff they had planned for GTA 5 but cut, I know they had Dead Nightmare for RDR but it was so long ago and my physical copy has been defective ever since I got it so it crashes when I get to the mountains specifically and the zombies and people's heads/hands disappear, I was thinking of a return to it on RDRll online as a better Halloween event or permanent DLC as well as having a Halloween zombie survival series on GTA 6 online now to advertise it for the RDRll one in online, I think it would be cool and would 100% buy it, I know zombies isn't Canon in RDRll as it doesn't align with the timeline so maybe just for a Halloween event would be nice. Also for separate online content, a $5k 200 round gatling gun wagon(fragile to bullets and explosives.) would be cool, $6k for the armored one from call to arms(bullet proof/1x explosive proof.), $2 per round with a 12 min respawn cooldown time after replenishing ammo from somewhere.

I’ll always stand behind my opinion that RDO was the superior game in terms of gameplay potential. The game’s subtle details in the way the game functioned mechanically blows GTAO outta the water. I am so disappointed that Rockstar abandoned this game’s potential simply to continue milking GTA. It’s made me dislike GTA quite a bit TBH. I have no hope for anything new ever being made with the same focus as GTA.

I have +3000 hours in GTA O (large chunk is singleplayer but mostly multiplayer). Apart from completing Doomsday achievements/trophies on PC (2020) and PS4 (2022), I haven't played GTA Online since around 2016. It got old for me way back then. I feel like the OG heists were the peak fun and I had A LOT fun completing the HARD elite challenges for them back then, with my friends. I felt like back then it was already beating on dead horse, SOME DLCS WERE FUN TO PLAY THROUGH, but GTA Online I think has overstayed its welcome. I started playing RDO mostly for achievements/trophies, but god damn it's way more enjoyable than GTAO. Everything you said here is true. To the very last word. GTA O is being milked way too much, RDO should have gotten the focus. I feel like Strauss Zelnick does NOT GIVE A FUCK about the image of GTA and just wants to make as much money as possible before fucking off.

Main reason why Rockstar stop supporting rdr2 was gold bars. Gold bars where basically was sharkcards. Gold bars couldn't be milked hard and dry like sharkcards.

The way RockStar has managed RDRO and GTAO makes me concerned about GTA6. Is it bad that I almost want GTA6 to fail out of frustration? I love GTA, but RockStar's quick abandonment of my favorite game leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Their mistake is not rereleasing any old battle pass content annually. Some of them have good cosmetics I wouldn’t mind paying 5 bucks for. Edit: also old rdr online still has an active fan base meanwhile gta 4 is all but dead so that means the red dead franchise has dedicated western fans like us who will always boot up the game for some Wild West action. They literally cornered the market on western games and do nothing with it.
