Why Sabine Shouldn’t Have Powers 

Sabine should have just been a mandolorian with a lightsaber, similar to how the dark saber is used. Her having a saber is cool, it’s another weapon in her arsenal (that she doesn’t use). However, her saber should be blue, and Ezra’s should be green, not the other way around

Rey and Sabine have the same problem: they both act like they were from some fanfic and can do whatever the heck they want and not suffer any consequences

THANK YOU, I needed to hear this. The crazy thing is some critics when reviewing the show said this “that’s why all she can do is pull a lightsaber and push Ezra” As if it makes sense for grown woman who has spent most of her life without Jedi training and has what I thought to have little potential with the force.

I want to know mainly what brought up Ahsoka wanting to train Sabine in the first place to become a Jedi. Kanan would’ve sensed it if Sabine had the potential even if Sabine herself couldn’t find the force, and he’s basic as Lou almost at Ashoka’s level of Jedi training & experience yet he never truly felt in the force, besides knowing she was able to wield the Dark Saber which means nothing compared to the fact Gideon, Din, Bo Katan, Gar Saxon & Pre Viszla were able to use the darksaber without using the force.

There's also the part where the whole end-game plot of Mando S3 was Moff Gideon having to clone himself, just to give himself force powers. So all he had to do was try hard enough, and he would've gotten force powers? Why all the trouble then? Heck, even Ezra took a long time to reach out in the force.

To this day I'm still surprised to hear people saying that Kanan trained Sabine with the Force back in Rebels. All Kanan did was train her to fight with a lightsaber (there were like 7 forms of lightsaber combat, weren't there?). Remember, the Darksaber isn't just any lightsaber, somehow the mechanics of the blade was, "fight with it, not against it". At that time, Sabine's emotional baggage was her guilt when she betrayed her clan to join the Empire. On the Book of Boba Fett, Din's mind has always dwelled on Grogu since they separated. Even Paz Vizla, a muscular man, couldn't lift the darn blade above his waist when he challenged Mando. It's been based on the premise that you have to be mentally and psychologically prepared in order to wield the blade properly and with ease. Sabine in the finale was like, block/deflect them blaster fire/force-grab her lightsaber/somehow push Ezra across a great height and distance/then somehow sense Anakin's force ghost? Watching the finale, all I could say was, "Disney just can't help themselves, can they?". She went from not being able to lift a cup, to somehow using the force like an experienced Jedi. Wouldn't her first force-push feel like bearing the entire weight of Ezra? Nah, she did it with ease because that how lazy their writing was. Her powers were rushed and unearned because it didn't have a build-up or backstory to begin with. It would have been better to just establish Sabine to be a non-traditional Jedi, or maybe forget that, a warrior who had the skills to fight with a lightsaber without the ability to use the force. She's a Mandalorian, they literally have all the gadgets that they can use to defend (or at least fight against) a force-sensitive opponent. Having the force as a convenient plot tool to move the story around makes me wonder about the characters who have been established to be a total badass without force sensitivity (Cad Bane, Jango Fett, Boba Fett). Sabine would have been a total badass too, but "the Force is Female" anyway so...

Can we please stop defending lightsaber impaling. I get it if you lose a hand or foot but Jesus. The lightsaber is the most useless weapon ever. Why stab Sabine if she is just gonna be walking around next episode ready to fight with no lasting effects. It’s lazy

Yet another Disney story to modify: Okay so Sabine never uses the force, instead using her cable to grab the saber She gives Ezra her jet pack so he can make the jump I think that mostly fixes it. Maybe she uses her shield to block blasters too

Even Anakin, who apparently had a midiclorian count to rival Master Yoda, spent years training and wasn't at the level of Ray. Disney needs every main character to be a superhero, each outshining the one before. I'll take Mando's awkward attempts at welding the Dark Sabre any day.

14:15 in my view Ahsoka was put off trying to train Grogu precisely _because_ of his high aptitude and potential with The Force. She was looking for an excuse to not train him, in the same way that Anakin’s cloudy future and fiery disposition made The Jedi Coucil reluctant to allow him to be trained.

I see a lot of people on facebook groups saying that this is "the same" as when Luke in the wampa cave. The MAIN difference there was that Luke clearly closes his eyes and lets the force guide him (plus music) while sabine just tenses and stresses out then gets the lightsaber

This vid made me subscribe. This is the problem that isn't understood by the current writers. It's the same problem Rey had and they have now ruined sabine. You do not need to have the force to be a cool and interesting character

Another thing is the cannon story of Luke Skywalker. He had passive force abilities his whole life which made him a good pilot, then he struggled to train as a jedi. In episode 5 he struggled to force pull the lightsaber to save himself on hoth, after some training and a few years of practice, and then sabine aces it first try immediatly after finding out she was force sensitive. And then in the sequals Luke was closed off to the force and struggled to use the force dispite having been one of the most powerful jedi of all time, Obi wan also struggled to use the force after only a few years in exile. But then disney decides to put sabine on the same level, if not slightly above, luke in empire. It's like disney's writers have never seen star wars and they're just mixing harry potter with sci fi.

The best argument I've heard is that her innate force abilities explains her plot armor in Rebels. It was odd to see a teen Mandalorian fight better then veteran adult warriors. In the case of Chirrut, no that man was *highly* force sensitive. He was able to fight off a squad of troopers surrounding him better then jedi *masters* could in order 66. He could even shoot flying targets while blind. Chirrut was not a jedi, but was surprisingly powerful in his ability to sense with the force

while i do appreciate how she had a whole character arc in the season and wasn’t perfect from the start like rey, that force push was just too much

Sabine is just overpowered and has a lot of plot armor. She can't use the force all season and then is able to push Ezra across the gap. I think Disney did the same thing with Rey/

remember in the ROTJ after Luke returns to yoda after rescuing Han from Jabba, and Yoda said he STILL wasn't a jedi? After hoth dagobah cloud city AND Jabba, he STILL was not a jedi, but now Sabine pulls a lightsaber and shes a jedi?

I wish she had a lot more scenes of training and that we saw her training around when her parents died and that in episode 3 she fully realizes her connection to the force and opens up to it she would be better with a tails of the jedi episode showing how she has been training after Ezra was lost

The problem with Sabine is not that she was able to use the force or push Ezra across to the Star destroyer, we wave seen babies in clone wars and rebels use the force to make objects levitate as well as the fact that the Jedi had an Agricultural regiment as well for padawan rejects who still had force abilities like push and pull but where deemed “not worthy” of becoming a knight’s padawan for X reason. The real issue is that Sabine ONLY used her force abilities instead of using them in tandem with her mandalorian gadgets as well as her mind as we know she is very smart from her days at the imperial academy. She isn’t like Rey at all. Force push and pull are the most basic of force abilities in the Star Wars universe. Her pulling her lightsaber was fine but her pushing Ezra to the SD should have been a quick push and not her using the force to actually hold him up to it.

I think it’s just Disney making any female character overpowered, just because he can’t think of how to make female characters be good characters even though she was a good character in rebels actors could not continue it for whatever dumb reason I didn’t mind her, trying to learn to use the force, but it was too quick for her

10:56 we don’t know how long Sabine was Ahsoka’s padawan in the years after Rebels and before this show. She might have gained a higher level, but, after Ahsoka abandoned her she just backslid a lot.

11:24 The reason I dont give Darth Maul flak for coming back is because Vader himself survived being burnt alive due to the dark side. Even with his internal organs failing, he can even survive outside his suit (without life suport) for long periods of time with nothing but the force keeping him "alive". To be honest, its less "staying alive" and more "refusing to die". When Vader had his mask removed at the end of RotJ, he seemed to have died when he gave up his grasp on the dark side, when he finally let go of his hate and anger he could no longer sustain himself and perished. He was essentially a walking corpse stitched together with nothing but hate and anger towards his fate. Maul's wounds while would be fatal to a normal person might be far more survivable than you think for him. He was cut at the hips, meaning the majority of his vital organs would be intact. We see no blood when cut or when hes falling so the wound was more than likely cauterized, we've also seen Jedi be able to fall great heights and live, and when he got down there, he was able to make himself a hodgepodge of legs to at least be able to move around. His wounds seem far less than Vader's in comparison, so i dont feel like its too far fetched to think he could have survived. Especially when a character like Sion existed in the extended lore, the embodiment of this phenomenon i like to call "Force Zomberism". They were a literal walking corpse who is so lost in the dark, they have no idea who they even were, what their goal even was, just that they needed to do what the dark drove them to do. They just could not die, and were a slave to the dark side for many years. The only way the Exile was able to beat him was to convince Sion there was no reason for them to go on, and once they let go, they collapsed to the ground, no longer animated by the ties that bound them. I like the idea in concept, but Disney has NO idea how to use it

I think the coolest way to indicate her actually being force-sensitive would have been if she gave up on the cup, and on the reverse shot of the cup when she leaves, the camera would have moved up and revealed ripples on the surface of the liquid inside the cup. I actually thought it was cool that she turned out to be force-sensitive, but you are correct that they did the "Rey mistake" all over, speeding up the personal development way too much.

People say she showed no sings of being forced sensitive in rebels....Well she had similar behavior to Anakin and had similar talents...and showed she was good with a saber but sure let's ignore this and act like it means nothing 💯 The force is not about lifting rocks and doing cool things there are other ways to tell someone is force sensitive...Qui Gon could tell Anakin was just by his exstordinary talents alone..a normal child does not build a damn pod racer and win..it takes alot of focus...and he was nine...Sabine made a weapon as a kid.....

It was a mistake.. like you've said, she was well established as a kicking ass mandalorian warrior, full of treats with explosives and gadgets in general, a great engineer side and the artist thing.. amazing character who went through a lot of struggles to get where she eventually arrived.. all this jedi thing with her is out of place, if anything spoiled her character..

Yea I wish they just had Ahsoka and Sabine teamup to try and stop Thrawn from returning, as well as finding Ezra, and leave it at that. Also in the Mandalorian S2, Ahsoka refused to train Grogu because he was attached to Din, but In Ahsoka, she has no problem training Sabine despite her clearly being attached to Ezra? So not only does it seem out of character for Ahsoka to train her, but it also seems out of character for Sabine to even want to be a Jedi. We get no insight as to why she does, were just kinda told this is what she wants to be now. It was all strange for me.

I think it would have been better if Sabine was cut on her leg, so she couldn't stand and not stabbed in the stomach, she could later use her grappling hook to grab the lightsaber instead of the force, cementing the idea that she doesn't need to be a Jedi, just the best version of herself, and when Ezra attempts the jump, she gives him, her vambrace with her grappling hook, so he can go home, while she stays behind with Ahsoka.

Hear me out: Ezra charged up Sabine with his force powers (hence him punching) in advance so she could be more effective at defending blaster fire with her lightsaber. Like every other drug, it's way more powerful the first time you try it so she has a lot of power right right away and can force-push Ezra onto the ship. But now she's depleted and has a massive force-hangover followed by force-withdrawals so Season 2 is all about her begging Ashoka for a little force fix.

Sabine is descended from Tarre Vizla the Mandalorian Jedi who built the dark saber, just like Rey is decended from Emperoe Palpatine. The force is born in them. They just needed that break-through moment to realize they had abilities.

What might add a level of interestingness to this is that, in season two (or whatever comes next) we’ll see her going back to struggling, that she opened herself up completely out of necessity l, and when the stakes are lower it goes back to being difficult.

I wholeheartedly agree, the force isn't like ki from the Dragonball series where if you do pushups situps and drink plenty of juice, you can learn to fly. Based on the original movies, and earlier comics and novels, the force is more like magic from Harry Potter, only those who possess the natural aptitude can attend Hogwarts. No amount of studying magic books, waving a wand and yelling incantations could've made Dudley Dursley a wizard.

Awesome video man, great job! Actually I’m cool with Sabine being a Jedi. However it wasn’t handled very well in the show. It would’ve been better if we got one season showing her Jedi training(minus the drama. I think the tension between the two was really boring and unnecessary). Also I didn’t like Sabines altitude in Ahsoka. She acted really mature & cool in Rebels but The writers turned her into a very arrogant immature teenager(Who doesn’t get scolded for her foolish decisions) in Ahsoka. One more thing I think the reunion with Ezra was so bland. I mean I expected some tears of joy or some thing(Plus I thought they were building up a romance between the two).

There have been MANY hints up until now that she was Force-Sensitive, even in Rebels.

There was a good mini series comic called nomad about a non force sensitive with a light saber fighting a dark jedi. They should have used that for inspiration.

Do you have any idea how many mines it takes to mine SPACE? And how long will it take? And why weren't any whales harmed by them? Naturally, flying straight through the wreckage, you won’t damage even the antenna on your boat... Sabin, you still haven’t told Ezra the situation, even though you don’t have time? What a stupid cow you are... How did Beilan and Shin negotiate with the red riders, who obviously do not know their language and who caught them over the corpses of their comrades? Naturally, Ahsoka and Sabine can connect mentally, despite the fact that Sabine is insensitive to the Force... and Ezra is sitting next to her, but Ahsoka does not feel him... Witches can not only sense Ahsoka, but also determine her position on the map with an accuracy of up to a meter? But they couldn't find Ezra for 10 years? Thrawn, if you don't care whether you defeat your enemies or not because you'll get off the planet, why don't you just shoot and bomb them from the air instead of sending a useless landing party? Actually, you don’t have many soldiers left, and you still have to fight the Republic... Ezra. You're a fucking Jedi. Take your fucking lightsaber and fight Shin! Sabin doesn't even use it! Ezra is so strong that he can forcefully stop Shin's blows, but Shin can knock him back and knock him out? The Ninja Turtles invented flying armored personnel carriers, but they shoot with fucking slingshots? By armored riders? How about just running them over? Ahsoka, why did you jump off to fight Baylan if your goal is to help Ezra and Ahsoka and he doesn’t threaten them? And your plan was to let Huyang burn you with flashes? Naturally, Ahsoka can simply drive into the frame through a crowd of stormtroopers, they can’t do anything at all... Wasnt really a fan of their choices either. But comparing sabine to rey seems a bit of a stretch. We know ahsoka trained sabine some time in the 10 years before this show. So saying she had zero training isnt true. True we dont know how much training she got. But she had some.

If you look at professional standards for any real-world occupation, many -if not all, are pretty much arbitrary. For example, in many wealthy countries around the world becoming a medical doctor or a lawyer is a bachelor degree or a six-years combine bachelor/masters program, not a 4-year bachelor degree followed by another 4 years of medical school (and the medical schools in the US have a 1% acceptance rate on top of everything). These countries have perfectly competent doctors (and frankly better outcomes on the average) but don’t have to be run through the ringer in a similar way to the Navy Seals but have an even lower acceptance rate than the profession than the Seals). So what I think Ahsoka is doing with Sabine is really democratizing The Force. The Jedi had only allowed the elite, best of the best, join their ranks, and to become a Jedi Knight, was an even more strenuous process. They were so dogmatic about admission to their order that even when Anakin, a candidate who had higher natural aptitude than their greatest master, was turned away until Obiwan insisted that he would train him regardless of what the Coucil said.

I’m just saying if one very Angry Jango Fett with a rock/barehands can kill 6 Jedi. With this in mind, she certainly shouldn’t need the force to beat everyone’s ass.

I have a theory. What if Sabine is ONLY force sensitive while being in the second galaxy. Specifically the planet Peridea that she and Ahsoka are stranded on. It unlocks abilities that you wouldnt have in the main galaxy. She only began using it after being on Peridea for a while. But once she leaves her powers will be gone.

What was her midi-chlorian count? God Lucas invented a qualitative marker on one's Force aptitude, and you have two characters from the old guard who were tested/used this method. Why would Huyang say Sabine is the weakest Force wielder he's ever encountered unless he had some empirical evidence besides her previous training outcome? Or if they forgot about that, the prevalence of Force abilities suddenly awakening in life-threatening situations made me think that a method of testing Force sensitivity is to hang them over a ledge. Or threaten to kill their loved ones. Ahsoka refused to train baby Yoda and evidently did not train Jacen. And I remembered in an earlier episode that, she made a quip that the Jedi training method is what failed. The same training *she* undertook, the same training that teaches students to let go of emotion, as giving into it is the quick path to the Dark side.

Great video. I completely agree. This whole "The Force is female" thing is ruining Star Wars. Training, being gifted in the force, and hard work doesn't matter anymore. Just have a vagina and you're a natural. Sabine was already a cool ass character. She didn't need to be a force wielder. She was a bad ass Mandalorian who we all loved. They are trying to hard to push an agenda instead of writing great stories that make sense in the Star Wars world.

I myself was so happy to see her starting to train, a quick witted Mandalorian with force powers. what I HATED was the return of "Mary Sue". I am SO SICK of this trope. I loved the use of gadgets and tricks when she was dealing with the apprentice. my favorite characters even when doing table top RPGs has always been the one that would think their way through a situation and not be DING MEGA POWERFUL DIETY GRANTS YOU THEIR POWER. and Luke was in the swamp for a month to learn some of the basics and that was constant practice and study. even then Yoda said he wasn't ready. so Luke struggled... Sabine.... *Plot requires easy power inserted here* and poof she has it... BORING.

My suggestion is too please watch the space battle of Scarif in my opinion it was the best space battle next to Endor in my opinion I loved darth vaders star destroyer came out of hyper space to take care of the rebel fleet when they were going into hyperspace.

Mandalorians are cool on their own (at least if you don't watch Mando S3), they waged war on the Jedi centuries back. They could have actually done something creative and have Sabine face a "jedi" with all her skills and gadgets and win through her training and cunning or even better: loose, learn from it and then win. But that takes creativity and well thought out fight scenes and we can't have none of that, so force powers through cheat codes is what we get.

The way that The Ahsoka Show portrayed Sabine Wren has been horrible no matter how you spin it. Sabine's character totally ruined it for me. Biggest loser in any galaxy.

If you watched rebels its not surprising

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I don't think her blocking blaster bolts when she opens up to the force is as big of a deal. Mandalorians have been shown to block bolts with their armor and gadgets. they already have the training and timing. I don't agree with how quickly she opened up to the force, and was able to use it 100%, but I feel a force capable Mandalorian that trained with a lightsaber, and opened up to the force would be able to block bolts without additional training.

One of the most annoying things for me is that in Rebels. Sabine was mentioned as being a natural with a lightsaber. Kanan also trained her in lightsaber combat, and she even beat Ezra after Fenn Rau gave her Vanbeaces. Yet, in the show, Sabine swings around her lightsaber like she has no idea what she is doing. And doesn't use her vambraces once! Despite them being purpose-built to fight Jedi.

Ahsoka can be summed up in 2 words, squandered potential.

Disney has already pretty much ruined the Star Wars live action continuity. The fact that now there is pretty much no limits to the Force removes focused enjoyment in any character that wields it. Since anyone can become a Jedi or Sith it's no longer a special occurrence. Another part is since there hasn't been a consistent measurement of how powerful a person is with the Force there's no reason to get invested watching someone grow stronger through training. Whenever a new character starts using it they become instantly proficient. The worst is the addition of all these broken powers. Since Force users can heal so easily, something Jedi and Sith had been struggling to attain and master for millennia, there's no stakes in a dangerous situation that has a strong Force user present. Honestly, I can believe that Force healing is an eventually achievable (and believable) power since it stands to reason that, logically, each successive generation of Force wielders will be more powerful than the last as well as every now and then having an anomalous user being born with power beyond all present users. Yet it should only be something attained by the most powerful and most well learned and experienced. It's simply not the case with the story of SW in the hands of Disney and a few others whose names should be widely known. Until SW is back in the hands of true fans or George Lucas, the live action part of SW stopped at episode 6 and only continued in the expanded universe, not this....This FOULNESS.

I don't mind them giving her Force powers, I just don't like the way her live action version doesn't have a very interesting personality.

In the second book of the thrawn trilogy dyring the flashbacks it shows that the force helps a jedi see where the shots are coming from and where they will hit but even Anakin couldn’t always trust it. To see Sabine be able to do this and block almost every shot is absolutely stupid and undermines the whole realm of the force.

My gripe with Sabine even bothering with using the lightsaber at first is, weren’t those meant for Jedi? Sure you could use it in duels like Pre Vizsla did but to use it to deflect blasters isn’t something anyone can just do, until of course that’s just retconned, but now she’s just a Jedi, how cool….. Please stop having Dave write shit

I wish they kept her as a mandolorian with a lightsaber like she was in rebels. I loved that about her. She is perfect without the force. I mean look at her now. Her whole thing was explosive paint. During the Ahsoka serie we didn't see anything about that. She didn't even really paint in her free time like she used to do. Her whole character was changed and not in a good way. Not everyone needs to be a force wielder. And even if she would finally learn the force, she should stay with her character of the past. More trusting on her paintings and weapons. At the max, let her indeed force wield a cup of water to her. I mean its really useful to get a cup at that way. I wish I could do that. But that would be the max in my eyes. At least in the first season. Maybe on the end of the Mandalorian-verse she could be a little better, but I wish it would still be at the niveau of a child. Even Ezra had more problems with the force than sabine right now has and he was stronger in the force.

But unfortunately now you are on a list… Sorry, but you can’t have a opinion about this stuff that isn’t exactly like the opinions of those that are deciding all of this! Lol don’t worry, I’m probably on that list to!?! It is 100% true! By skipping so much in one’s development you make what was special about all others less so! And at least in my opinion that is only going to lead to less people liking these characters and also less people really caring about the struggles and eventually not caring about the whole story and eventually upcoming shows and movies! People shouldn’t love a character based off of if they are male or female (and if they do, it sounds more like they are the ones that are sexiest and they are the problem! Not what they want to believe is the problem)! They should love a character based off of where they started, what they went through before we join them, what they had to do fight through (including wins and losses! Which in the beginning should be more losses than wins or else it takes away from the victory’s later on), how throughout it all they keep choosing to do good instead of evil, they choose to do what’s right instead of going the easier path and doing what’s wrong, knowing that they are choosing to do the greater good instead of what benefits what they want for themselves or those they immediately care for and then after all of that they finally become what they are meant to be!!! And it actually says more about the people that love quick power characters than they do about the characters that actually had to work for it then it does about the characters themselves!!! Everyone wants everything to come easier. But if you have more respect for and care more about that instead of the struggles and what you learn every time you fall then (in the words of Obi-Wan Kenobi) you are truly lost!!!

They need to make chewbaca a jedi as well

Honestly it would’ve been so cool if they had given Sabine a Cybernetic waist and had more of a Rivalry going on with the Female Sith and honestly I 100% agree Sabine really didn’t need to be a Jedi just a skilled Mandalorian with a variety of Gadgets and a Mandalorian Lightsaber-blaster hybrid with lethal and stun bolts basically shows her Mandalorian heritage and takes inspiration from Ezra’s first Lightsaber I think a Magenta Lightsaber would really suit pity this will never actually be a thing but hey let me Dream a little 😂 and if they wanted to have a Mandalorian Jedi just let someone else be that Let Sabine just be a Cool badass Mando with magenta Mandalorian Lightsaber-blaster hybrid 😂😂

Sabina as a Jedi is not a lazy writing - it's pure fan service for normies. Producers don't have balls to do something unique and risky. Therefore they try to shove everything in at once in order to please everyone at the same time. But when you try to please everyone, no one is pleased in fact.

Yep it’s all bloody stupid and a shame because I really liked rebels and all the characters but then Ashoka happen and all the characters are all over the place, can’t stand what they did to Ezra and Sabine just feel like totally different characters!

It's like they forgot Pre Vizla fought for years with the darksaber, combined it with his Mando arsenal and because of it held his own with Kenobi and Maul by making use of everything he had.

It also makes the dark side pretty fucking pointless. The dark side is Star Wars version of shooting a gun for the first time mixed with hard drugs. Bending the force to your will is a fast path to power instead of using your body as a vessel for the force. You hit harder and shoot lighting out of your hands but it turns you into a living corpse and you never die a peaceful death. There’s a cost to power but in Disney Star Wars there’s nothing to entice you to the dark side. Dark side force wielders just exist. But why strive for power if it’s given to you on a platter? You wouldn’t. There’s no opposite action and characters like Reva, Kylo, the inquisitors, whatever are just evil because they need evil people to beat up.

The way they move, it has made every grandma joke a reality. My grandma could kick your butt.
