Great channel absolutely a Must-See channel for feeder fishing...with regard to feeder rigs, I have been feeder fishing for 40 years and I can say, without doubt, is that the most efficient and best rig is the single loop method on the mainline as used by Ian Heaps (demonstrated in his Feeder Fishing Video.)...easy to use, easy to change from any type of feeder to a bomb and back again to a feeder...I can honestly say hand on my heart that I have missed very few bites using this method: river, Lake, and indeed in Ireland...Forget all the fancy rigs, paternoster, helicopter, swivels, etc. every time you add a knot, weakening the line.

Realy enjoy your Chanel I’ve incorporated some of your hints and tips . The big one for me is timing my casts via stop watch . I was so surprised how long I thought I was leaving my cast out compared to reality . Since using stop watch I’ve being getting a better idea of how my peg is fishing and catch rates ave improved . Eg leaving feeder out longer or recasting quicker. It surprised me what a difference it makes . Thanks again keep up the good work and tight lines . John

Whatever issues you have clearly run deep for you to feel like you need to put passive aggressive comments on the internet. Maybe I would help new comers to angling realise that there is more then just just one type of feeder and presentation to use…sharing knowledge perhaps rather then bullshit comments.

Top video jamie. Im with you on that one. For all my river fishing i have gone back to a traditional fixed patanoster rig, side weighted feeder loop to loop. Then its, just, a case, of trying different length of hooklenghs hook size and pattern on the, day. Keeps thing simple like me 😂

Thanks Jamie, I think it’s given me a plan. the big issue is that I fish a club lake for bream and skimmers over winter that is predominantly a catfish and carp water, however they are very difficult to catch even with a 1/2 oz tip and braid at 20-30 metres the bites are no more than a tremble as they mouth the hook bait and don’t move. Also there isn’t a large head of better fish so they are relatively solitary and seem to spook away especially if you are accurate casting to the same spot, I’ve tried a method feeder with a short hook length and you don’t even get a bite. So any further tips would be brilliant kind regards H
@CatchFishingChannel

How short have you gone with your hooklengths mate? Sometimes a 20-25cm can be good in those instances mate

Good evening, Jamie. Hope you’re well. I’d like to ask when would you use a helicopter rig and when would use a paternoster? Also, when tying a paternoster what is the best knot to use at the feeder? Thanks! Andy
@CatchFishingChannel
@CatchFishingChannel 2 года назад
Basically Andy we use paternoster rigs when fishing at range and when the wind is blowing straight into us. The know however can be seen in the '10 Feeder Rigs' video at the end of this video. Hope this helps mate!

Paused the video at the point you talked about shot on the hooklength......IN MY OPINION.....a shot on the hooklength will NOT kick the line away from the feeder when it lands, but instead it will create another heavy point in the rig. The rig would work with the feeder sinking, and there'd be a peak of folded line between the feeder and shot. The shot would be at the base of the second part this arc, but would be at a higher point than the feeder (like a shepherd's crook) because it weighs less than the feeder. The same would then happen between the shot and "metal-work" that is the hook, with the attached bait. Why would this be an arc, you ask? Because of the drag on the line as it sinks. This would effectively shorten the overall length of the rig because of the 2 folded arcs / crooks, causing the rig to bunch up, and not straighten, which could lead to tangles and missed pick--ups showing on the tip. Seriously, draw what I have described......and you'll see what I mean.

Hi Jamie, i was wondering if you could give me some advice? I fish a club lake in some of their matches and as knownim finding it hard this time of year to find fish and catch! The lake is well stocked with all kinds of silvers but not like commercials. My usual approach is feeder using either cage or maggot feeder and usually maggots as hookbaits! Any advice mate?
@CatchFishingChannel
@CatchFishingChannel 2 года назад
Not knowing the lake Scott all I can really say is try targeting the deepest area of the lake, cut-back on the feed and if it's a cold winter wind blowing try fishing out of the wind where it might be a bit warmer mate :)

@@CatchFishingChannel its a cracking club water in the warmer months, 40 pegs and had a large island at one end and 2 small floating islands. Approx up to 4 -4.5m at its deepest. I would say the best silverfish water in Northumberland. Thanks for the advice Jamie, tight lines on your fishing 👍🎣
