Why Skullgirls players STRONGLY DISLIKE Beowulf

It feels like every time I see Beo on a mix masters stream or hear any discussion about the character, people are very open about their distaste for the character. However, many people from outside the SGC seem to really love Beo for his design. Why is there such a big disparity? Hopefully this video can clarify some of my thoughts on the topic and shed some light on why Beo is so strongly disliked.

i can never hate beowulf, even when im getting my ass whooped by him. hes the most fun to fight against and play as, and hes just full of charm. i wouldnt even be playing this lovely game if he wasnt added. WULFAMANIA RUNS WILD, AROOOO!

AGREED! This duality is actually the reason I wanted to make this video (among other things). A lot of tournament players despise Beo and the stuff he does, but everyone else loves the hype wrestling man. Obviously, both sides have their reasons, but the contrast was so stark that I thought I'd discuss the topic. Definitely feel u tho, Beo is my GOAT.

personally, i think beowulf is pretty balanced. it's very true that once he gets momentum, its quite difficult to stop him. but that's also dependent on the skill of the beo player. you could drop a conversion, mess up your assist call timing, etc. and then you have to try and get in again. i do agree with most of your video though.

I def agree, beowulf can mess up the one player stuff and he is relatively well balanced, it’s more so that if the only thing that the opponent has to rely on is the Beo player messing up, it’s still gonna feel very one sided. But ur right, Beo has to work super hard to earn it

As someone who only has recently checked out the Skullgirls scene. I just got to say that can't most of this be applied to other characters? A lot of this sounds like you get hit and die and isn't that just skullgirls? 😂

@@LostWolfFlow either can work quite well, though Beo and Umby both really benefit from having brass so that is a very stable team, but I’m sure there are ways peacock can work very well on that team

Usually all I see from Beowulf is him getting zoned to death unfortunately. He has a very linear gameplan which is terribly effective, and I reckon that's what people resent him, but really once Beo cashes out his DP he's in a tremendously vulnerable position. "Win 3 interactions and kill 2 characters," sure... but win 3 interactions? Easier said than done.

Absolutely a fair point, and I agree with u. I think it’s that polarizing nature that frustrates people, but it’s also what makes him so fun to play.

Litteraly nobody dislikes Beowulf, ESPECIALLY NOT the female fanbase. They're not Skullgirl fans, they're specifically Beowulf enjoyers.

Nah i just like how much damage he can deal i mean i dont main beowulf but he is still my fav character im a beginner at the game and i dont have much experience with it so i dont understand most of the things you mentioned 😅

That's what I thought for a while too, but SG is the kind of game where people really love the character they play, and really hate every other character. I definitely did mention that Beo isn't the strongest character in the game, or at least there are characters stronger than him, but with a game where the character power is super high, there will always be something that he can do that is very powerful or borderline unfair in some respects. I def feel ur pain tho why they gotta hate on my boy when he's strugglin XD

I think that if you want to be better in any fighting game, you should stop crying and start to think what can you do with your character, because you wont be better if you just do a ragequit. I have problems versus beowolf, because it's very difficult to me to block and punish wulfblitz but i mean it's ok, i just need to play more and that's all. I think that the biggest difference between a good player and a novice is the mindset. Please tell me how punish wulfblitz 👉👈

It's very dependent on the character you play, as some characters have an easier time then others. The best advice I can give you is that, if you block the Blitzer grounded, Beowulf is usually minus but safe. Mashing your fastest button or throwing him there is usually the best thing you can do, but again it depends a lot on beos positioning during and after the blitzer I respect the hustle and the questions though, and you're absolutely right being in the right mindset is invaluable
