I'm from Nigerian and my experience hearing commentary from Muslims in instances where persons commit despicable acts against humanity in the name of Islam is that Muslims never speak out against their own, even in private spaces. They'll rather stand by their own than stand for the truth I respect this man for his bravery. I've never seen anything like it from a muslim
Recently more and more muslims speak out against Hamas - some because Israeli Muslims were hurt, some because they're humans. But yeah, I really hope we see more of these brave men, the Muslims community would be the first to gain from it.
I think that a good part are afraid of consequences and retaliations. Especially if they have relatives living in countries that have a majority of Muslims

@rocketman5931 obviously there is a separation between the foreign policy of the west that has killed millions of middle essterns (both muslim and not) but the people themselves like any community have great people and not so great, 1 thing for sure is the middle eastern perception of westerners is more nuanced on a broader scale that they differentiate between government and people and some of them interestingly are surprised that there is extremely hateful rhetoric against them from a portion of westerners (but I think that works both ways tbf). Id be interested to hear ur perspective though
I agree with you 100%!! My husband & I have been to Israel twice with church groups. Part of our mission was a medical mission- seeing patients who had no access to medical care. It’s very complicated & hard to untangle the different threads of the massive balls of conflict. We chose not to be on any one side, instead we treated every single patient that showed up. We chose to treat people who desperately needed it & didn’t focus on the conflicts there. Both trips were amazing in their own ways. I learned so much more about the issues from the people. It was hard work & often heartbreaking due to the lack of health care. I considered it an honor to help those who otherwise wouldn’t have received ANY medical care.

People are tired of radicals coming into our religions and twisting it into something it is not. Not speaking out is far from positive but it doesn't mean they support it. Many real british people of colour (loving your country) don't speak out about the current immigration crisis. When having these conversations with family and wider network, it's exhausting dealing with Muslim mentality, even educated professionals.
