Why so many rats? Growing number of Massachusetts communities being overrun by pesky rodents 

A few years back I worked with a company dealing with this issue, we developed a system that was poison less and didn't leave a bunch of dead rats around, we did a lot of work in the commons and some genius called and complained that our system was "inhumane" and so the city stopped us so the problem continues We Americans don't have a proper way to dispose of food, leaving it in flimsy plastic containers for days at a time is practically asking for rats, this problem is going to take a massive effort from just about everyone involved and we will have to get comfortable with the idea that rats are just rats and that our health comes first

More cats = less rats.

There are more rats than people and more cockroaches than rats. Rats are afraid of humans because we are much larger than they are. If they knew their power in numbers, they could overtake us. If 8 rats jumped on you all at once, climbing up your pant legs and everywhere else on your body, who wins? If they only knew, this could be their world.

Invest in a Jack Russel terrier or any other terrier for that matter. If you have ever seen a JR and how it can kill a hundred rats in one mad burst of energy, you will know what I mean. End of Rat problem.

Try feeding the rats fast food if that doesn't work give them a covid shot.

😊one key to increase o rats and mice. Is the trash and food people leave out where rodents have access to water and food scraps! Plus. Unclean human habits as far as not sealing and controlling trash and leftover food will keep the problem unsolvable,so clean up people !

A lot of food sold in supermarkets is totally indigestable(including bread) due to adulteration & poor inspection, causing people to throw it away; rats won't have any problem to digest it

The rats are from all the public housing. Those people live like animals. They throw all their fast food garbage everywhere except the trash

The guy who said cornmeal and baking soda is right anything else that eats it will mostly be okay unlike poisonous chemicals put it out in a heavy grid pattern advancing 3/4 of a block leaving 25 percent continuous overlap baking soda and cornmeal are pretty inexpensive and easily replenished within 90 days the problem will be to a manageable situation

Brookline is the worst when it comes to rat infestation, residents need to stop crying and let the trash guys do their job. They’re out there early because it’s safer for them and you, less traffic, less people, in and out. It gets the waste out sooner.

leave food including pet food and birdseed out in the open and you will have mice and/or rats, guaranteed. Rats in particular are very lazy in that they set up shop close by to where their food source is. If your yard isn't full of food, guess where they're not headed?

The time delayed poison is fine, this is a city not a forest. There is plenty of nature somewhere else. I just clean every last bit of food around the place and leave poison bars out for them.
