Seeing a lot of responses in regards to Imperial Tower. Yeah, the lyrics fit the song. But you can't JUST have lyrics and say the entire song fits. At it's core, Imperial Tower is just a rave song. That's it lol. It's like putting Pumpkin Hills instrumental with Imperial Tower lyrics, and saying it works for Imperial Tower because the lyrics still talk about the sun falling. It doesn't.
Do not take this personally but your entire video was rubbish, you say it's the worst sonic game you've played but the truth is that sonic Forces is an ok game if you compare it with the other sonic games
I don't count Boom because SEGA didn't make it, and I said at least 06 has a reason to be janky if you know the development history behind it launching on 360/PS3. If it had the proper development time it needed, it would've been one of the better 3D Sonic games. Forces really has no excuse to be bad.
Actually, did you know that sonic being tortured was actually something that wasn't part of the game? The script was written from the japan's side of things and the translation went and spice things up in the wrong aspects. Sonic being tortured, hell. Dead if i'm not mistaken. Tails losing it when in reality he's missing. Even a word play between Infinite and Eggman calling Sonic trash was taken out.
To me the most disapointing character is tails. For example Adventure 1: deafeted chaos 4 Adventure 2: fought eggman in a mech battle Forces: SONIC HELP ME!
salty prince *"S O N I C H E L P M E"* I was frustrated when I heard that quote too. It's like they pulled an ash ketchum and pressed the reset button after sonic 06 or unleashed
girexx but tails was put against 30 buff/strong dark gia creatures with no mech or fighting tech. He had no chances against them. Chaos 0 on the other hand.........
salty prince Oi. Heroes: He fought sonic again. Shadow: He helped shadow save the president in one of the levels. 06: He helped save the princess. (Whether you like 06 or not. It shows Tails has never been a coward).
I don't necessarily agree. Tails' writing and characterisation makes a good deal of sense if you come at it with an open mind and it can really shine against what is the shit-show that is Forces. > we hear Tails has "lost it". > we see tails failing at robotics. > we hear tails essentially denying that Sonic is gone. > we hear and see a complete 180 when classic appears. > we hear and see tails develop an attachment to classic despite modern being fine. What this essentially tells us is that while Sonic was supposedly fine despite being captured, Tails' mental health plummeted. Showing is more powerful than telling if you read it right, but clearly with the amount of people that didn't read Tails' scenes positively - something was still very off about the showing that made it easily misunderstood or easily dislikable. However, while this characterisation makes sense it could be argued that Tails stepping up without a sonic crutch would be more in-character. I would personally prefer for Tails to have left the resistance, then returned later when he realised he needed to step up. It seems like that writing was done that way purely to give classic sonic a role.
+Anya Stocks The lost it was a mistranslation and also what kind of excuse is that? It still sounds nonsensical even when someone attempts to explain it.
Modern Sonics insufferable new personality is a result of babies complaining about sonic being a cocky mischievous jerk. The original games and cartoons that’s just who he was. It’s confidence in his ability, the selfishness it gave him charm. It reminds me of the way they changed Mickey Mouse from a mishevious mouse into this bland cookie cutter family friendly character to sell merch
But that type of attitude makes sonic dated like something from the 90s. For me characters that have too much or forced attitude makes them look unappealing.
E Ramos89 everything from 90’s trumps what we have now especially music well save red dead 1,2 and god of war...Skyrim and breath of the wild if there were a time machine they’d come with me, on a serious note I don’t understand why everyone’s so “disappointed” I had sonic 2 on sega megadrive it was good for a while then rinse and repeat it never had depth and it didn’t really evolve beyond the same old so yeah here to lay it on ya it’s stuck in the past it’s tried to make up for it with qte and generic story lines which honestly that isn’t trying really is it and really I don’t think they should of given him a voice they could of expressed more humour and the interactions between doc being a somewhat humanoid thing could speak and well sonic just relied on body language and little animal type squeaks I mean it’s cute and invokes humour or at least some though or what have you it would of been better... possibly I think sonic should of been left alone honestly there plenty of other game franchises that were way better imo conkers bad fur day, banjo and kazooie, sunset riders that awesome teenage mutant ninja turtles fighter game, golden axe streets of rage which would probably be like Yakuza now maybe hmmm Shaq Fu kidding :p btw this is just my opinion, perspective, point of view, why is there a movie you may ask??? Probably to breath life into this dead franchise in which it succeeded which kudos to them that’s great but we will probably end up just getting sequels until it’s just ehhh no more!!!! and maybe a couple more games.I really do hope they can evolve sonic into something more than he is but I think at this point it’s to late to just start tacking on you see this might seem like a rant but I used to play sonic 2, sonic and knuckles for dayssss like I just lived on it loooooved it when I was a kid it rocked but it was that era that generation then n64 hit like a freight train and the jump from 2D to 3D would of been like from black and white tv to colour tv or from living with mum and dad to moving out for the first time getting all them bills it was a big wtf moment seriously Ocarina of time came out which evolved Zelda and Mario 64 come out which evolved Mario but sonic remained while yeah it went 3D but damn link was overhauled so was Mario the characters were given depth not just insubordinate arrogance it’s a shame as it was an amazing 2 player game unless it was sonic and knuckles that sucked in a way friendships were tested endless fights over who was gonna be knuckles cos knuckles was a badass because he is what sonic could of evolved into another gameplay element but nope wasted potential and well no one wants to be tails after the first few hours. Anyway thats my two cents worth, matter of opinion some point of view that will probably invoke some ones tantrum because everyone challenges the first amendment these days
He beat chaos four which is chaos with the negative energy of that DAMN FOURTH CHAOS EMERALD but in sonic forces screams like a LITTLE PUSSY in fear for classic sonic to appear out of Mania to ONE HIT K.O. Chaos?! HOW?!
Ok I just want to say that tails had help from sonic and knuckles when battling chaos 4. Still doesn’t make since for him to be scared of chaos 0 because he beat egg man all by himself
Can someone please mention Tails's annoying " a Sonic, any Sonic!" gag already?! Not only is Tails dependent on Sonic but he also has no emotional attachment to his Sonic. He would be perfectly fine if his Sonic was dead and Classic Sonic just randomly appeared whenever Eggman attacked! Hell, at the end of the game he was actually more attached to "Sonic-- I mean the other Sonic" than Modern Sonic! He even fist bumped Classic! Even though there's like three and a half fist bumps in the entire game, fist bumping is meant to symbolize trust and friendship as shown in the game's main theme, Fist Bump.
Yes! I was pissed when I first heard him say that! Classic's inclusion just took the spotlight off of both Sonics, which did nothing other than both devalue who Sonic has always been and undermine who Sonic could be now. And I can't stand the way they've portrayed Classic Sonic in here and Generations--they've stripped all of the cool out of him and just made him feel naive and babyish--inferior to the modern Sonic and nothing much more than that. Mania did it right--so right, and it's such a huge difference that the two games don't feel connected at all. It's such an insult to every character, past and present, and they need to stop.
Yeah, I seriously questioned Tails' mental health in that scene: seeing him get more emotional over Classic Sonic when HIS Sonic is standing right behind him. WTH!
I really want some other characters besides Sonic to be playable again. For a game that shoves the friendship speech down the player's throat (even though it's supposed to be war zone themed), it felt like the whole cast was doing a whole lot of nothing, while leaving Modern Sonic, Classic Sonic and the OC to deal with all their problems. Tails, Amy and Knuckles have been sitting on the bench for too long now, give them some spotlight!
Blu Spikes I feel like Silver should get his own game set in the future. That way we get something different and sonic team can play around with new concepts and ideas. And then we go back to the modern cast and silver is redeemed and done with. Doubt it’ll happen though.
Blu Spikes I think Sonic team is scared to make other characters playable except Sonic. Custom character was just them seeing if it’ll be ok. Because forces did mediocre they might blame the custom character And think no one wants to play characters besides sonic.
mewkuro12 Seriously. Silver is My favorite Sonic character but...C'mon. After Sonic '06 he's kinda just...here. And where tf is blaze!? They need to do something with Silver, fr...
15:40 You're not. You're really not. Sonic Forces finds so many ways to insult the audience's intelligence and Tails' depiction is easily one of the biggest oversights.
I think the misleading trailers were the worst because they hyped us for something that wasn't really close to the finished game. I literally expected the levels to be warzones, but instead I got to slide in waterslides in a casino that is in a jungle for some reason. And the levels just feel too short. It's 2018! Sonic unleashed (PS3/Xbox) had bigger and more immersive levels and it was older hardware. And then episode Shadow that supposedly was going to explain the origin of Infinite just didn't.
@@username0131 Sonic generations was the only reason that make me like sonic. And now. I'm thinking about leaving this community, If I had a pc that runned sonic fangames. I would never leave the sonic community just because of those GODAMN GLORIOUS FANGAMES!
Sonic Mania is better for one simple reason: Tails and Knux are playable in a main game again. It's sad that Sonic Adventure 2, a decade old game has more content than Forces. Still better than Rise of Lyric, though!
Shripplez I think it just has more charm to it than forces does. I feel no charm from this game sadly I want to like this game but it just feels average in comparison to other 2017 games like Hellblade, Persona 5 and Zelda BotW obviously
Sonic Mania is even worse than Forces. It has just as much automation and shit controls, brings hardly anything new to the table, and clearly capitalizes on one of the many aspects that the fanbase is so frowned upon for: nostalgia goggles. They’re all hypnotized by said nostalgia into liking it. Multiple characters to play as don’t make a difference when there’s not much, well, difference between them to play as. Many different paths to take don’t make the game better cause the way the levels are designed, it doesn’t matter if you get lost, cause you can go pretty much any direction you want and you win.
The problem is, Sega literally doesn't care. They just want to make money off of the kids who buy the game and then leave with minimal effort. They refuse to even continue they're best series, the adventure series, for no other reason than they don't want to. Because all of those games cost more to make than normal. They say they want to "experiment" but really they're just making crap like the custom character that make the game worse. They make promises they can't keep.
They're too scared to make it. They know if they make SA3 and it turns out to be disappointing at best (which it likely would) they know that almost every fan they have over the age of 15 would give up and never look Sonic's way again. That'd be the end of it.
A thing They’re not making money off of kids. They’re making money off of you! And making another adventure style game after it hasn’t been touched in over 15 years is too risky. The future is unclear for modern sonic but I feel that Sonic Team isn’t just gonna throw him in the trash. The best course of action is to gather up all the big guys and have some sort of big discussion on rebooting modern sonic again, turn off their computers and actually exchange ideas, merge the two Sonic Team divisions and see what happens next.,.
Kevin Marcelin Or? Hire other guys that made the good fan projects. Hell if they hire the 2HD team to finish that game, amd work on the rest of that trilogy as well as the lock-on games, then that's sure yo rake in the green. And I'm not talking that recycled level either.
Why do the level songs for the avatar sound like some cheesy anime openings? Also, what if Sonic was more serious, Tails wasn't a pussy, Classic Sonic wasn't here, and Infinite was a good villain. But I will say, I like Sonic's character model in this game. It looks somewhat lighter than it did in Sonic Lost World and his quills looks slightly shorter to me.
Infinite has a good back story... But sonic forces (the game that introduced him) fudged it up in the main story... Play episode shadow... It is the only good part of the game, even though the levels were recycled
i completely agree. personally i had more fun with sonic 06 and sonics character has been basically trash since colors. you just earned a follow for having the balls to say that this game inst just average, its trash.
But Colors was a good game. Sure Sonic's character was bad but at least Colors was a more kid friendly game compared to Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog so it kind of made sense.
@@mercedestrenz1881 he shouldn't be a children's franchise. It's a franchise for all ages. So what if Eggman commits terrorism? So what if something is considered edgy? Sonic is supposed to be the opposite of Mario in every single way.
@@SteveCrafts2k I agree, sonic shouldn't be a kid friendly franchise, but you've got systems such as the Sega Pico and the fact that Sega even stated themselves that they'll never give sonic a gun kinda proves that they don't want to make Sonic a hardcore hedgehog for the older demographic.
EthanGame nah level designers from generations because it has multiple path ways not a straight line well not as straight as forces but still but sonic unleashed which to me is adventure 3 reason I won't explain levels are longer 3 more minutes longer then generations but still also sorry my grammar is crap
Sonic Forces is bad because Sega thinks they can half ass their flagship franchise and get away with it, and thanks to the Sonic Cycle they do. Because according to some of the fans "Not as bad as 06" equals good. I think it's sad that the best Sonic games we've had in years is a return to the Genesis days. Meanwhile Nintendo hits us with Game of the Year material with Mario Odyssey. Poor Sonic. He ran fast....and.....he ran fast.
it would explain how uncreative the level desing is i do think 3 years were spend to hedgehog engine 2 and only a year to the game though of course i got no proof for that so who knows
@MessyArtistguy They'll repeat it anyways, they don't learn. I'm sure everyone would prefer Sonic Mania 2 with all new levels, but Sega's never gonna let that happen.
@Messy At this point it wouldn't surprise me if they made the Modern Sonic game with only Classic Sonic playable,Zavok being the final boss and Infinite being another Mephiles (one time villain).
When I heard that Chaos was in the game, I got so damn excited, to realize he gets booped once and just dies forever. No transformation, No boss, and all disappointment.
I gotta agree with you man, this game was a disappointing game. Just to add on your Tails section, in Battle, Tails also had his own story mode completely independent from Sonic. In it, he had to take care of someone else (Emerl) and take the initiative in learning more about Emerl's origins and how he works, which is super important for that game's plot. So yeah, Tails has already been established as an independent, strong, capable character, over and over again. And Forces completely ignored that. Thanks, Forces Writers. :l
Ive been saying this forever. The game is ass. Sonic Kids try their hardest to say the game is fine its okay its great. There just trying to defend their favorite character. In reality. This was a half ass game that ddnt live up to the hype. I made a video months before the game released with the first trailer and i even said the game doesn't look to promising and people bashed me. Feels great knowing 6+ months back i was right all along about this game.
RETRO™ Look at you, tossing all semblence of objectivity into the wind. You can't say it's a bad game and be right. The whole definition of the word 'bad' when stating an OPINION on the game is just that, and opinion. There are people saying they enjoy the game, and it's not just to 'defend their favourite character'. Did you ever consider that people may have tastes that don't align with yours? Or that people could enjoy something you may not? Or was your head too far up your ass to consider it?
Daniel Avila It's a matter of principle. People who say these things will speak to people who like the game and call them wrong. It's simply toxic elitism.
Daniel Avila And then he says that the rest of us are 'Sonic kids' who are blindly defending the character. Does that sound like we're supposed to take an inference, or an insult?
Someone made a mod that fixes Classic Sonic's movement. Too bad that it doesn't fix the boring and short level design, music (why techno in every level?), metallic madness good future, the game tgat plays itself 70% of the time. Even if the game gets fixed by fans, is laughable that sega depends on them to make their games enjoyable.
@@stardust_sonic By that I meant "fans fixing the games that the Sonic Team themselves make, not fans creating a new game from scratch like Mania", and we know how that game turned out.
This is the most real Sonic Forces video ever. Like not even just Forces but modern Sonic. Like god, generations and adventure 1/2 werent masterpieces but they actually were fun games to play and had appropriate tones. Fucking thank you I'm so pissed at this game.
I've ever liked the boost gameplay to begin with. That's not to say there aren't good games within that era (Unleashed and Generations) but still I don't like it. Even though Sonic did have a drift before it still never helped the overall control problem because Sonic's turning arc is exceptionally wide and aside from going in a straight path Sonic controls like ass. His overall momentum is stiff and heavy feeling. FOr example, if you are just going through the straight path boosting, shifting or using the homing attack it's fine, but the moment you enter 2D or a section that requires platforming the control issues become apparent. Sonic feels heavy when he jumps and doesn't gain momentum after 2nd jump, whenever he turns it feels stiff and his general movement is limited, this can lead to deaths a lot of the time, and this problem persists simply because the entire design of the levels require the player to be in a clostraphobic straight line and just move ahead while homing attack repetitively on a chain of enemies. Even if there are alternate paths to find they still feel pretty arbitrary as you are just forced back into another straight line right after you enter set path (or in the 2D sections case, another stiffly control section) It's just a shallow gameplay style that doesn't give the player any freedom with tight controls. Some may say the Adventure style is too "floaty" but honestly, I don't see how being floaty is really a problem. I'd rather have full control and have my jumps have weight to them, than be stiff and drop like a rock. If I don't have the right control it doesn't feel good to me. Also enemies are all Boost Fodder, even in games like Generations, they are just designed on the straight path simply to boost over them. The homing attacking rows of enemies thing was always apparent, even in the Adventure games, but in the boost games it feels automated. Forces just basically takes the style and makes it even worse and more repetitive. I also hate how despite this game's "Dark" feel, it still uses the same writing we've had since Colors, which honestly I'm not a fan of, it's become the worst writing in the series. In fact the story in Forces is if you took Sonic Colors and pasted it over a dark background. Nobody acts like they use to, Sonic's friends contribute nothing to the plot, even despite being a commander Knuckles doesn't do anything, Tails is completely useless and all he's done since Sonic Unleashed is provide exposition while standing on the sidelines. All the writing cares about is making Sonic get in as make jokes as possible or focus on a kid friendly humor. Stories in Sonic games have NEVER been what you would call good writing in any sense, but at least there was a story, in these newer games the stories feel so bare and distant that any time the introduce something they have it randomly disappear for no reason. If it wasn't for Mania getting me back into the series after a long hiatus I'd honestly don't know if I'd even be a fan. (This might be stretching it, but really it's hard to be a fan of something when the lack of quality just constantly gets in the way) Sonic Forces actually manage to make me dislike Tails, who was previously my favorite character. As they just continue do to him since they've done with these newer games, but made it worse. Any time he's not giving exposition he's useless in every sense and they completely forget about his combat prowess. (See this is why you don't hire writers who know nothing about the franchise or how the characters work) But I'm going to leave it there. Overall while I don't like the Boost formula there are games I do like from it (Unleashed and Generations) even if the story in the latter is trash. And no I don't like Sonic Colors that much. But Forces takes what was good about those games and just made it worse.
@@kennyr1161 Unleashed was more colorful and upbeat. Made it nicer to look at. Forces is going for a more grim look with samey colors. Lol I still sorta stand by this point after 3 years but not so one-sided as before. I just think this style made it harder for Forces, not that it couldn't be done properly.
@@TheBlueBlurSFM First of all That's artsyle not graphics. Plus if you're going for a more serious artstyle that's more of a reason to have better graphics. I wouldn't even describe unleashed as upbeat it's serious just not as dark. There is no excuse why forces couldn't have the same or better graphics than unleashed. You can argue that force's artsyle suits high-end graphics than unleashed. Which baffles me completely where you got your point.
@@kennyr1161 I was making a correlation between the art style and graphics. Unleashed is pretty upbeat tho. You go around the entire world with a goofy character like chip meeting good people and just having fun. Level reflect that. Forces has destroyed cities, factories and war zones. Point is: They're extremely different there. Unlashed had more locations to tackle in a color way, while Forces was limited to a grim feeling (and as I said ends up feeling samey). Graphics wasn't exactly the right term to use here since even technically speaking Unleashed makes better use of its tools in general. Just speaking about visuals.
@@TheBlueBlurSFM That's maybe upbeat if you compared it too most stories but for sonic it was a serious story with goofy moments. It was a sonic game with a cinematic styled story and was trying to have some depth.I'd argue even though forces tried to be dark it still felt kiddie whereas unleashed felt more serious. It just sounds like you're talking about the artstyle and prefer unleashes style more. I know what you're trying to say is that the artstyle in unleashed could make better use of graphics, but I don't really think you can make a correlation like that. Even with the artstyle forces could've looked just as good as unleased it just had a mediocre excuetion. Though I do agree with you that unleashs style was much better and tbh I'd love to see another sonic game that kinda returns to it.
I sold this game a month after it came out. I played it once and everything about it was garbage. The day I sold it, I decided to play it one more time, and I beat the game in 2 hours and 1 minute. That just shows you how pathetic Sega is now at making these games. Unleashed would take me a day and a half with nonstop play and heroes would take even longer. This is the most forgettable game in the entire franchise
This biggest problem with the story, aside from being badly paced and all over the place is this : It tells but doesn't show. >tells Sonic is dead, never showed him die in any way, just getting his ass beaten. >tells Tails "lost it", never shows him go insane, perfectly fine next cutscene. >tells Sonic have been tortured for month, doesn't show him getting tortured or any sign of it for the matter. >tells some events and what happens with the army through the communicator but never impact the gameplay in any way. If they actually bothered showing more stuff through cutscene, this would be a big improvement.
JMPhase Wait, Super Sonic isn't DLC anymore? Please explain by that. Like has it been integrated into Forces or do you mean the "It's free forever" thing?
Sonic acts like a character out of Teen Titans Go. I hated what they did to him in this game. Everything about Classic Sonic sucked here. Infinite needed a lot more depth. Also the story was executed terribly. It was like a fanfic. Should’ve gotten more experienced Sonic level designers. Overall disappointing. Last time I’m ever hyping myself up for a video game...
This game sucks... what makes me more sad is the fact that all the characters here they are USELESS for the plot, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Rouge, Espio, Silver (Why is he EVEN HERE), they say Eggman is too strong to fight him, but they are more than capable of kicking some Egg butt. And the Original Character makes no sense... he accomplished everything that all of them were capable of doing in past games.
Zavok: First Boss... Metal Sonic: 3rd Infinite boss Infinite: Edgy Jackal dude with a gem stuck 2 his chest Shadow: marketing hook Chaos: also a marketing hook
The reason why Sonic mentions friendship so much is because of the gimmick of the custom character and the team up mechanic. I've hated Sonic since Colors. The storytelling and portrayal of his character is trash. I was so disappointed to find out that the alleged "torture" was not shown to us nor taken seriously by Sonic. What a wasteful detail. They try so hard to make him cool to the point that he's so lame that he makes Adventure Sonic look like Spike from Cowboy Bebop. I also hate how they did Tails. I've noticed that he's been getting more and more reliant on Sonic and more immature at that. Tails is a damn genius. We've seen him mature before. What the hell?
+Aegis Arclight ...Not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure he meant how Sonic is portrayed in games since. I agree. He might hate Generations though, that's his opinion.
Know this is old but what initially hyped me up for this game was the first trailer.... the one where after years of meme-inducing cringy single-emotion Sonic... we were finally getting a sonic who started taking things seriously again aaaaaand it was a marketing tool to hook people who were tired of the 2010+ meme bullcrap
people that think this game is good never played sonic adventure, lets be real here. If you can easily accept the devolution of Tails character and Knuckles even, you are naive and young and possibly never played the first 2 sonic games. You are just here because your friends are also fans and would reject the idea that any sonic game is bad just so you won't have to take your head out of your ass
So if I have a higher toleration for the characters, I'm automatically a young childish Forces fanboy? Also, I've honestly had more fun with '06 than both Adventures. Tbh, I find Adventure 1 and 2 to be slightly overrated, even though they're both hella fun.
Addressing the drift complaint: They did that cuz sonic controls a little looser than unleashed/generations. If you tried cutting corners with the analog stick there, you wouldn't come close. But since sonic actually controls OK at no speed, they felt the need to remove drifting. It's not like you needed the drift in the bare level designs anyway
Okay but one of the reasons this is a bad thing is they give you the boost via wisps in a place your not supposed to use it and even then it would've been more satisfying to drift at high speeds than to just walk through it
4 years of development... Brand new experience... Hedgehog Engine 2... I'll just leave a like to this video, dude, you pretty much nailed what i thought about this game. Gameplay: Plays worse than Colors (No Drift, WallJump and Light Speed Dash for Modern Sonic), Classic Sonic suck ass even more than Generations, and the Avatar is basically Modern but without the Boost and with the FUCKING Wispons instead, still CRAMMED with those bland and awful 2D sections. Story: A "serious" Lost World basically. Sonic is still an asshole, and Tails is a pussy, he can't even fight Chaos 0 as you said (Shrug) the Resistance is basically the Cheerleaders Squad considering none of them do shit, don't even get me started on Shadow's DLC and Infinite's "origins" because he is literally Mephiles with an even lamer background. Music: Aside from Light of Hope and the instrumental of Fist Bump, the soundtrack is mediocre and forgettable, Classic Sonic's music is shit, while the Avatar music doesn't belong in the levels theme (Imperial Tower and Guardian Rock). Not a big fan of the graphics and artstyle either, the akward mix between Unleashed and Lost World feels terrible and out of place with the theme and premise of the game, also FUCK Green Hill and Chemical Plant. Unleashed artstyle was 1000 times better. The Sonic Forces Defense Squad always defended this game by saying: "IZ NAT AUT IET ! U CENT JADGE IT !" it feels SO GOOD being right now that it actually came out. 4/10: Very mediocre Sonic game, below average.
YOURE RIGHT ON ALL. I make all the channels to say that Sonic Forces is mediocre and here its not needed. I don't recognize the characters anymore. Tails is coward, weak and useless while he is the chief of the group in SA2. Sonic makes only jokes and tells absurdities on the friendship, he is never serious. The Sonic of Forces IS NOT THE REAL SONIC, he is too annoying. I dislike definitevely the Eggman/Sonic relations since Unleashed. They don't look like at worst enemies but at enemies like Donald Duck and J. Jones. I have shame now when i play at Sonic, it's too childish. For the story, you have said all. SEGA has forgetten all the background etablished of these characters in the precedent games. If it continues like that, targeting kids and making childish stories and bad gameplay, i give up the Sonic franchise.
Charles-William AMANY Me too, man. I'm at my wits end. Sonic sucks now, and that's a shame. And another dumb thing that SEGA did was abruptly cutting ties with the Adventure voice cast. They were the best voice actors the characters ever had. Especially Ryan Drummond as the voice of Sonic. He was the only Sonic that mattered, next to Jaleel White as Classic Sonic. I hope all the people at SEGA (especially Iizuka) get replaced with new COMPETENT people who actually care about making Sonic succeed with great games. And for them to go back to the Adventure formula.
As soon as you got onto tails, i literally screamed in absolute agreement. It LITERALLY. LIT ER ALLY. MADE NO SENSE, That he suddenly went from "Im going to be independant like sonic and find my own way!" To "HELP ME SONIC, AAAAAAAAAAAAH"
Arpegiando Universos im so sorry our president wants to build a wall to "protect" us (lol we need to be protected from him) from u guys hopefully he nvr does that
The wall's to prevent illegals and gangs like MS-13 who raped and killed a few girls in my neighborhood. Legal immigrants and travellers/tourists will still be allowed, wall or not.
Everything about Sonic Forces (excluding Infinite's boss themes) makes me want to throw up! Say what you all want about Sonic 06. At least that game's story wasn't as jumbled up as Forces, and it actually lets you play as the major characters other than sonic, instead of just slapping them in there as pointless cameos.
No matter the editing, I feel this video was great and I couldn't have said it any better. The points made were on point and I thought that no one would point out those problems till now. The game isn't (completely) awful but at worst disappointing and rushed as I feel as if a bad game you were hyped and looking forward to is worse than a bad game you expected to be bad. Its great to see people in the comment section who like the game who actually admit to its flaws as well. Now that's proper critique! 🎉
A darker storyline means generally character development, a trait that supposedly would carry on forward like Tails, on Forces you can tell they really fucked him up,no excuse, you can tell they tried to make the game something serious like the whole Sonic's "torture" but surprise! it ended all in shit and giggles, power of friendship, unicorns vomiting rainbows etc. A real letdown.
I must confess, I think my wolf character is adorable. Perhaps the only redeemable quality of the game. But you are most certainly right: this game did NOT live up to its hype. Besides the soundtracks, controls, and lack of character development, I think this game should have used different play-styles for the avatar. For example: what if your character is not freakishly fast but strong? What powers (balanced powers) would they have? More of a role play aspect. But I also think that the target audience might have been kids younger than us who had played Sonic games in the past. Then again, are kids interested in Sonic anymore?
I can agree with that. There are many parts of 06 where I can see what they're going for in the level and much of it has been corrected in the fan-made project: Sonic P-06. With all those fixes the game itself looks much more fun than whatever they came up with Sonic Forces.
This video is really good, looks like you spent a lot of time on it. I as well really looked forward to this game after the trailer, but the game didn't exactly match what I expected, as you stated.
I don’t say You shouldn’t trust this guy but you can’t judge a game just because of the haters online. Just be glad it’s a sonic game that has an okay gameplay style. I say you should but it because it doesn’t mean you won’t like the game
I remember being so hyped for sonic forces when it was first shown off, minus the fact that classic sonic was in it, but I looked past that. When the modern sonic stage was shown off I was surprised how linear it was, but shrugged it off thinking it was probably the first level. When I saw classic sonics gameplay I died inside a little, but I didn't really care about it in the first place with mania on the rise. From that point on my hope of forces being a good game just dwindled, with the custom hero having clunky gameplay, the few stages they showed off having bad level design, and the final nail in the coffin, the leak. Before that leak I planned to preorder the game in hopes that it would at least pick up part way through the game, but then decided to just forget about it. I agree with all the points you made in this video, apart from the game looking bad.
SuperMarioT ikr while i personally despite the one and other flaw enjoy Forces for what it is and just that Odyssey, unlike BOTW, wasnt my cup of tea for the first time playing it, its also weird to say that everything that gets hyped is bound to fail bc if we would be goin by that persons logic then Sonic Mania wouldnt be a Successfull game either (which clearly isnt the case) and to me Forces didnt ever fail to begin with because i have only one to me important factor that a game needs to have in order to be remembered as a nice experience: That its fun to me and if at all only those enjoying what the game itself has in Store. And if some lazy tunnel-point-of-view perfectionist claiming to enjoy past games dont like that game bc its not what he or she wanted to see then why tf even bother to buy it if they end up hating it anyway. So i just want Sonic to either use ideas of this game and truly improve on them for the next one or have just one game that truly shows how Sonic *can* work in 3D and prove every single dude of the Fanbase that they are wrong when they say that he aint working in 3D and that he should only get Mania games bc believe me: It will get old after one or two games so no Mania games unless *truly absolutely necessary*
This was probably the most disappointing game of the year for me. I thought that with Sonic Mania handling the 2D aspect of Sonic they'd go all out to create a 3D/modern Sonic, completely free of its shackles to the classic series. Even today I still see the huge and glaring wasted potential here. 30+ levels with modern Sonic gameplay should have been the perfect opportunity to cement his gameplay style, encouraging players to replay individual levels and go for speedruns (which I did a ton in Generations - I probably sank 4-5 times more hours into playing the modern Sonic acts than classic ones) and score runs. But no; for whatever reason they felt bound to shoehorn classic Sonic into the mix, and cripple the controls for modern Sonic (and the avatar) to account for unnatural & contrived-feeling platforming sections, and even f*cking 2D sections. I just don't get it. They managed it in 2D with Sonic Rush (although promptly f*cked it up afterwards with Sonic 4), so why do they still seem to feel shackled to classic Sonic when it comes to the 3D games? If they want to bring back the original 3D/Adventure style Sonic, there's nothing stopping them from doing that, or even making it a separate series if they want. But what we've ended up with here feels more like the bastard child of various 2D and 3D Sonic tropes; it simply doesn't work, and by trying to cater to everyone at once they've just ended up pleasing nobody. Modern Sonic is a high speed, twitch-based arcade game, with better and harder routes being a reward for memorization and faster reaction times. Simple, huh? It's not that difficult to grasp. They *really* need to just take that idea and run with it (no pun intended), instead of this please-everyone-at-once bullshit that actually ends up pleasing no one. The worst part of all this is that it doesn't seem like the developers are really lacking insight into what's good or bad in a Sonic game; I'd always thought that outrunning the camera was a bad mechanic in the original games, and it looks like some of the people on the dev team for Sonic Rush thought the same and actively decided to mostly scrap it.
This probably the best review I've seen (besides Sam procrastinates and the salt review) you couldn't have said it better.(even if the audio can feel off at times but that didn't bother me that much) I don't want to waste my cash on a game that's less likely to satisfy me story and game wise. I was suspicious about this game since it was announced and yes its ok for people to like it but they should consider that proper critique is necessary for improvement not insulting or overly praising without mentioning the issues as well. Yes, I'm annoyed with Sonics new personality too I'm surprised you are the first person to mention it.
