@@Jadou-nc9de Technically it still shines a light, but in the IR spectrum. It won't be picked up by the visible eye, but night visions (and to some extent) cameras can pick it up.

a flashlight is cheaper and this is basically just the same as a flashlight but instead of spitting out visible light, it spits out infrared light rendering it useless to anyone who has even just a camcorder with an infrared mode
