1:26 That Spider-Man theme song is going to be stuck in my head all day now🤣😂🤣 I used to love watching this back in the day on Fox Kids before Jetix😂😂😂💯
If there's an Emulator for PS1 games, this would be my first go-to play first. I miss the times where I had nothing to do but to play a Playstation 1 game that was part of my Childhood.
not only are there multiples of them, but what if i told you that an old PS1 emulator from the turn of the millennium caused a court case with Sony that is the sole reason why emulator are still legal today
"No one can control the symbiote. NO ONE!!" The intro still lives clearly in my head from time to time. And I like Rino Romano's portrayal as Spidey, he nails out favorite webhead really well.
Great video. This is still my favorite Spider-Man video game to play. I pop it in whenever I can, especially if I want a nice dose of nostalgia. It might have been because of this game that I realized Spider-Man came from comics originally. So I can credit it for my unhealthy comic collecting habit LOL
I also grew up with the cartoons and this game blew my mind! It made a smart move by using mostly villains anyone who saw the 90s show would recognize but constantly reminded players that so many things happened in the comics and showed you those comics. I got into the comics right after that and have this game to thank for it. Semi-related, but a friend of mine only got into Batman comics after Arkham Asylum and that game also set itself inside its source material's continuity and notated when things came from the comics (albeit, more subdued than Spider-Man PS1). I wouldn't be surprised if Rocksteady studied Neversoft's work on the PS1 to see what kind of things to keep in mind for a superhero game.
That's awesome how the game sparked your interest in the comics! It's great when media can inspire fans to explore the source material. It seems like developers really paid attention to what made the comics special and incorporated that into the game.
Good job of covering the topic about this old PS1 Spider-Man game. This game was my childhood and what made me like Spider-Man in the first place, I remember dressing up as Spider-Man when I was a kid. Keep on going on what you're doing, I hope you get more subs in making more retrospective video gaming nostalgia, excelsior! 🕸️🕷️🤟🏿
Happy this video showed up on my recommended list. This game was also my introduction to a lot of Spider-Man’s characters and lore from the comics, and while it’s often overlooked by many when compared to the games that came after, this one really set the standard for what a good Spider-Man game should be. Fantastic video!
Spider-Man [2000] (PS1, N64, Dreamcast), Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro [2001] (PS1), Spider-Man [2002] (PS2, GCN, Xbox) and Spider-Man 2 [2005] (PSP) were 4 games all with the same modified Tony Hawk Pro Skater engine and gameplay!
@@INTOHD Yeah, if you love the gameplay of Spider-Man [2000]. Then, I recommend playing Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro [2002] (PS1 exclusive), Spider-Man: The Movie [2002] (PS2, GCN, Xbox) and Spider-Man 2 [2005] (PSP exclusive)!
@@mattimusprimal637 actually I did played them but did not know that exempt "enter electro" which is clearly same engine. The rest is using the same engine
@@INTOHD After Activision acquired Treyarch and Neversoft, they’d to rush out a Spider-Man game based on the 2002 movie. So, they used Treyarch’s PC, Dreamcast port of Spider-Man [2000] (PS1, N64) as its game engine, to make their game development quicker.
Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, X-Men, Iron Man and Fantastic Four from the 90's were the best superhero shows that have ever existed and they'll never have any as good. The modern live-action Marvel movies were good up until Infinity War, which I hated right along with Endgame, and nothing they've done since has been any good.
As a person who first saw the 90's animated series, these are the only villains and characters I can consider canon in terms of video games. Insomniac's Spiderman is great, but the Shocker, Electro, Rhino, Scorpion etc. just aren't themselves, even all the Spidey/Miles thing isn't. Yeah some guys don't look or sound exactly like in show but there is enough. And the game follows that simple episode logic where you encounter villains every few mins and it's not long-drawn almost-movie. And it's still a wet fantasy that they made a 3rd game with Hobgoblin, Chameleon, Vulture, Tombstone, Kingpin, Morbius, Beetle, Spider-Slayer trio and Alistair and perhaps some cameo from Spot or Hydroman in special missions. Would really have finished up the things. (Though gameplaywise I understand because Electro was pretty meh lazy sequel and a PS2 version wouldn't have been so good for consistency). 3rd probably would have ended up like Dino Crisis 3.
It's still best source material accurate Spider-Man experience in form of games. Aside technical limitations. Only games where your web can actually end
Between Microsoft owning Activision and Sony owning Spider-Man will we ever see a re-release (or remaster) on this masterpiece as well as enter electro. Spider-Man 1/2 movie games as well. (Especially Spider-Man 2)
True. But i think we don't need a remaster of this game. Because this game is product of it's time. If you need better Spider man game there is plenty :). If someone remaster it, it would not be the same.
@@INTOHD I really want a modern port though (Not so much a remaster) I don't care about the modern games, I just want to play the games I grew up with and the new games nowadays get too much going on and bigger social media presence that I genuinely don't want to be a part of. I just want my niche stuff to be released on Modern hardware That can be carried over to future consoles via backwards compatibility, or better yet a steam release. But hey, that's why Night Dive studios are my favorite developers
@@INTOHD Don't care. I'll stick with the memories I had until this game shows up again. I would actually buy a new console if games like this would make a comeback exclusively on the new consoles. I'd even buy a PS5. I've never cared about emulating and I never will.
