Why (*SPOILERS*)Was Allowed to Remove Their Helmet - The Mandalorian Season 3 

I love how terrified Bo Katan looked the entire time she had her helmet off, she probably thought she was being kicked out of her new Mando Tribe. Bo also showed she was sick of Mando infighting back in S2 when she stopped the fight between Boba and Koska Reeves

If Bo Katan rides the Mythosaur and follows less traditional Mandalorian culture and Din weilds the darksaber while following The Way, maybe the two will hook up and unify all of the clans. Deathwatch would follow Din because he has the darksaber, the Children of the Watch would follow Din because he follows their traditions and led them to their new home and discovered Mandalore is safe, and the other factions would follow Bo Katan because she rides the mythosaur and was part of the old mandalorian leadership. If the two got together, it would combine all the belief systems into one.

The way that they were setting things up for Bo Katan to embrace the old ways was, to me, one of the more interesting and powerful story lines they've done in anything Star Wars related in a decade. Bo Katan viewed them as zealots and relics clinging to meaningless traditions that may actually be based on complete nonsense, but you could see the hints of her realizing that maybe she was wrong. When she told Din about her father and he acknowledged his sacrifice with a heartfelt "This is the way", you could see how it affected her. When she saw Din entering the waters, speaking the creed, again, you could see her thoughts through the helmet. She wasn't watching a zealot, rolling her eyes, she was thinking, maybe even believing, that there was something to all this that she'd missed. Then, finally, when she saw the mythosaur, something she probably barely believed to have ever been real, it seemed to change her. I hope there's more to it than just her seeing a way back to power... Personally, I hope that her being allowed to remove her helmet doesn't just become another "anyone can do what they want" scenario. The old ways are what saved her people and ultimately what saved her. Without them, she'd have nothing now. Her people, the people that followed her "new ways" abandoned her, but the zealots both accepted her in and eventually allowed her to be herself again. If this all just becomes a round-about way to her gaining power with no real character growth or development, it'll be a huge waste of both the characters potential and the potential of her development actually meaning something.

I have theorized that the little green guy might be able to unify not the Mandalorians, but be a bridge between Mandalorian and Jedi. If you think about it, his feet has been sealed he is currently of both worlds, and this may be something that he has to live the rest of his life being of two worlds. Both a peacekeeper and a warrior of honor.

The Armorer senses that Bo-Katan has altruistic motivations in unifying the Mandalorian people. Bo’s time with the tribe has also helped renew her confidence.

I imagined that Din wouldn't have a hard time keeping his helmet on after that flashback of his previous life where his skull was crushed by the Mountain

Personally I think that perhaps the Darksaber alongside the sighting/riding of a Mythosaur will become the new symbol of leadership for Mandalor. How it could work is like this. If one challenges for and wins the Darksaber in combat and then ventures into the Mines of Mandalor and stays there and waits for a sighting of the Mythosaur and successfully sees it or perhaps rides it then they’re pronounced worthy of Leadership of Mandalor. Bo-Katan has held the Darksaber at one time and has seen the Mythosaur. If she were to challenge Din Djarin for the Darksaber then go to the mines and tame the Mythosaur she would undoubtedly be considered by all factions to be the one true leader of Mandalor. Or another theory there can be 2 leaders of Mandalor, the holder of the Darksaber represents the leadership of their warriors, and the rider of the Mythosaur represents the leadership of their beliefs and traditions. And the two rulers work in tandem with each other. As the holder of the Darksaber Din Djarin can fulfill the role of lead warrior while Bo-Katan as the one who saw the Mythosaur can be the spiritual leader for the Mandalorians and the two can unite all the factions and rule together. Perhaps the new ruler of Mandalor is not one person but two people instead 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I feel like I am psychic, I swear I called it out but honestly it's going in a way I still didn't expect. I do still hope, if they are keeping up with tradition, they (Mando and bo kotan) will have a battle for the darksaber (ruler of all mandolore)!

But what if all 3 ruled mandalor together? Bo with the mythosaur, din with the darksaber and grogu with the force. A trinity ruling together. Wouldn't that be crazy? And grogu would get to rule for hundreds of years, and he could also, hypothetically, start a force sensitive mandalorian academy. Jedi Mando's!!!! Somehow I get the feeling Bo katan is going to be Grogu’s new momma.

I still think Din is being set up as the new leader, albeit a reluctant one. His armor is "pure", follows the code as a true believer, keeps putting clan and code first, got them lands, has the darksaber, and a foundling who has a history of calming large beasts...Bo may be the one the Armorer thinks will lead, but Din (with her help) may end up with the role.

din deserves the job lol i love Bo but din saved Vyzla son he brought Bo to them, he vouched for unity. he went to the waters when she was fine with giving up. He made her regain the will to fight again literally.

Thank you for making sense of this to me as the last episode made my blood pressure go up I was so angry that Bo took her helmet off.I definitely see all of the clues that grogu is being groomed and will deal with the mythosaur. He will have his adopted parents and Lady Rabi to guide him and With the armorers opening up a bit grogu to also may not have to wear a helmet but he will be as powerful if not more than Mandolore the Great himself.

When I saw the armorer encourage Bo-Katan to remove her helmet, and then said she walks “both ways” I kinda got the feeling that they’re going to make Bo-Katan the new Mandalore? (The person/title, not the planet)

I've been wondering for a while that if at some point they all remove their helmets for the first time, will some characters be revealed as being different species? As it's been mentioned many times in the show that "being a Mandalorian isn't a race, it's a creed".....Yet I've never seen an alien looking character in Mandalorian armour. So I think it'd be interesting to see another non human character (apart from Grogu) being a Mandalorian in the show.

Something that the Mandalorians need to be reminded of is that despite all their differences and beliefs, at the end of the day, deep down, they all want what is best for Mandalore. That belief just needs to be brought more to the forefront of all of their minds, instead of the disagreements because of the prejudices they had set in place. If they were able to put everything else behind them, Mandalore could be the key to changing the galaxy for the better. Bo Katan has understood this for quite some time, which makes her the perfect messenger to unite her people

I actually have a hypothesis about the Darksaber. I dug, and it seems there is ONE crystal that creates a black blade. Krayt Dragon Pearls. No, I am not suggesting it's that. But something similar. Given the cultural power the mythosaur has, I would think the darksaber is made inside a Mythosaur instead of a Krayt Dragon. As people had thought them extinct for thousands of years, they'd be even more rare than a krayt dragon pearl.

Actually forget Bo. If you think about it who has the ability to control beasts? Pretty much any beasts he's come up against? That's Grogu. And what is Grogu? A Jedi Mandalorian. And who created the Darksaber? A Jedi Mandalorian. It should be Grogu wielding the Darksaber riding the Mythasaur leading the Mandalorians.

The episode was good for the most part....except the ending. Why! Just why is the Armorer trying to push Bo-Katan into being Manda'lor! It makes no sense! Din is the one who rallied the Mandalorians to fight for Navarro, it was Din who was given the land upon which their people will come to live openly, he even can make old enemies into friends and allies, has contacts, and respects traditions but is willing to work with those who don't have the exact same beliefs as him, etc. So why in the hell, is the Armorer looking to Bo! She has proven twice that she is not fit to rule her people. I could see her as a right hand to Din, as she's good at that. But nobody in their right minds should be thinking of following her again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. The Mandalorians as a people would have to be complete idiots to be fooled a third time. Unless she's supposed to act as a messanger/herald of sorts to spread the word instead of what I'm thinking. Her acting as Din's voice to other Mandolorian groups outside the Tribe would be an interesting take on her spreading the word to anwser the call of the Manda'lor. It's actually the only way I could see this possibly working or its going to end badly. I hope that's what's eventually going to happen instead of what is being implied. Especially if Din is being sidelined in favor of Bo-Katan in his own show. That way leads only to disaster, which I would think Disney would have learned from the mistakes of the recent Ant-Man movie. Especially since the Mandalorian is basically a Star Wars take on the Arthuian mythos, with plenty of references throughout the show from various tales of that mythos adapted to Star Wars and some characters like the Armorer being a Merlin-expy (Jon and Dave's words) character, sending people on quests and trials, and guiding heroes, etc. Din is also a rather blantant Arthur-esque character, going on knightly quests, slaying dragons, protecting the weak and defenseless, uniting enemies into friends, and even has a legendary sword and is connected to an encounter with a being under a special lake. If the Arthurian inspriations track the Darksaber might not be the Excalibur stand-in but a stand in for the Sword in the Stone Arthur's first sword that broke during a duel where he broke the rules of Chivalry (Much like Din broke the creed by removing his helmet) and had to go to the Lake with Merlin to retrive Excalibur from Vivian, the Lady of the Lake (much like Din had to bath in the living waters to be redeemed and was pulled under by the Mythosaur). So the Darksaber might end up being destroyed this season and possibly reforged into a new sword. I'm really hoping that this is merely the Armorer is merely attempting to interpret the ancient Prophecies of Mandalore mentioned in Book of Boba Fett, and this simply being a case of backing the wrong horse based on assumptions of what the signs mean so to speak. After all, the Jedi had similar problems with their chosen one prophecy, it eventually happened but not in the way they believed it would. I feel like if the Armorer is actually being honest in her belief about those prophecies, she's falling into the same trap the Jedi did. She's not seeing the full context and its going to eventually bite her and/or the Mandalorians in the ass. Which could also be setting up the catalyst for Din to finally accept his role as Manda'lor and leading his people. But I imagine these attempts to interpret the prophecies by the Armorer will lead to a tragedy that will motivate Din to step up and take charge. As to the last bit of the episode, the beskar in the Shuttle could have been a ploy by the Imperials to turn the New Republic against the Mandalorians in a false flag operation. It would make sense as the Empire stripped tons of Beskar from Mandalore during the purge which they could easily use to plant the seed of conflict between the Mandos and the NR. And with an agent placed in NR to turn them against the Mandos, the Imperials can mask their operations from scrutiny while they prepare for whatever campaign is on the horizon for a reborn Empire. This has the markings of a plan from a certain Grand Admiral that the showrunners have hinted towards since season 2. This is probably going to tie into the Ahsoka series and that villian's return as the mastermind behind Gideon.

Who would rule ??? the holder of the Mask of Mandalore or the holder of the Dark Saber if both showed up at the same time ?????

GROGU will be the symbol for the first Jedi Mandalorian. Making the whole arc of the Mandos come full circle

This episode revealed the whole story - Bo Katan becomes mandalore due to her seeing the Mythosaur, Mando gives the dark saber to Grogu, who easily wields it.

'm sure a lot of you already know this but the reason Grogu chose the Mandalorian over the Jedi is because he doesn't know anything about the size and power of an enemy, he only knows that mando saved him countless times and the Jedi did not.

Theory: The armorer knows that Katan is impressionable and she also knows Katan is known. With that we can assume Katan will have to lead all whom she finds to the Well to be baptized and at that time all will witness the Mithosaur; they'll see it as a sign that she's their leader.

Anyone else remember goku saying "power comes in response to a need, not a desire"? I feel like when din can wield the darksaber, he will have to. There will be something great at stake.

“Star Wars has always been about family” Din will take the title of Mandalore and Bo will act as a herald of the new age; she clearly holds respect for din so she won’t go for the saber. She’ll most likely go to the other sects and hype up Din’s new pad, they’ll build a small army there and fight off Moff Gideon’s troops hidden amongst the New Republic. Might cause some issues with the republic there, oops.

I would be pretty certain the majority of mandalorians arn't the ever ready to get ambushed and have to keep their helmet on type. The armorer know this and probably realized that if they are going to have change if they are to settle land and start "working" as a society again, they need all those less hardcore fighter mandalorians to join them aswell... And those would want a "reasonable" face and leader to lead them. One they can relate to.

Bo Katan riding Mythosaur and having Darksaber would be awesome sight. Imagine her like that. How she rallies Mandalorians,all of them amazed. And prideful. Yes, I think Grogu would grow up in mixed traditions and customs. Which is pretty good. You know different traditions and customs and you can connect to people more. Which is especially true on Mandalore. The Force will always be with you too

The Mandalorians taking in different species as one of them, and the belief that it makes them stronger reminds me of not just the US, but the Ancient Rome. Like America they began as a collection of immigrants that came from places where for one reason or another weren't wanted (criminals, escaped slaves, soldiers that deserted other cities/settlements, etc). Hell, even the man legend says the Roman race were descended from was a surviving Trojan general that escaped the sacking of Troy. They proud of this quality of the idea of being Roman, for a while at least. This stood in stark contrast with people like Athenians who claimed to have always been Athenian, rising from the ground fully formed. This attitude was arguably one of the reasons the legions were so effective. If they faces an enemy that used weapons or tactics the Romans found effective, they would incorporate it for their own use. This is how the macedonians under Alexander the Great could roll across the east defeating everyone, then get slapped around like they were nothing just under two centuries later, and a century back then was the equivalent to maybe a decade at most now when you consider the pace of change.

Dose no one find it odd how the last episode the Armorer was like to Bo katan, You saw a what haha go take a nap. Then next episode Din gets them a new home and now the Armorer is like hey Bo I suddenly Believe what you saw in the waters so so take off that helmet and go lead people. now I’m just like 🤷🏻‍♂️
