When aproaching someone while in the air, just nair -> b -> get hit -> b -> punish. eg. When about to get juggled. 3. When off stage press b incase you are hit and then if you are press again.

@@Ed_AlphASteve just needs to whiff one of his multiple frame 3-7 aerials and then get hit to set it up. He could also not use it all match and then on the opponent’s final stock, cancel hitstun and combo his opponent with one of his multiple deadly combos. Steve would have so many mixups with this tech and would force the opponent to have such a predictable gameplan to avoid his deadly combos or specific kill moves that it’s impossible actually punish Steve for doing anything or else you’ll die for it or he’ll get his diamond weapons, iron for anvils and minecarts, and other blocks for setups and cart rails.

​@@Ed_AlphA the problem is the third method, where you can just react to your opponent getting a combo starter on you and then activate it and stop a combo. If you mess up, you were getting comboed anyways so it's irrelevant. If it works, you can deal like 60% to your opponent or kill them off of something that's a true combo on literally every other character in the game

Games like Super Mario Maker 2, Splatoon 2, or even Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze They received updates to improve certain sections after years (last time was in Dec. 2022). So it's possible that Smash Bros. Ultimate will get some update to fix the bug if it echoes enough.

Yeah basically the exact same thing that happened with Bayo in smash 4 and meta knight in brawl, since their mains don't want their characters banned they hold back just enough, and since good players don't want to be hated and actually like having fun in neutral, only players with zero results before the character launch played him and dominate with him. At least meta knight was played by the best players in brawl, steve players are randoms winning majors

Cloud had really good neutral and was the king of the stage but died if you breathed on him offstage once. Both exceedingly good characters, and only Bayo was anywhere near "broken". Just because you likely didn't play smash 4 as much and only heard stories doesn't mean it was more broken when that couldn't be further from the truth

This isn't like wobbing, infinite dimensional cape or chain grabs where it's extremely clear when those banned techniques are being used. What's the tell? Steve acts sooner and there's a small barely visible grey block? It's too hard to see and imagine doing this with hundreds of matches because Steve is very popular.

I've never seen anyone say that, its more hate than anything for Steve. But fr learning the mu is important, top players have gotten more used to Steve and it shows, though monsters like Acola might stay at no.1 or 2 for the lifetime of ultimate

And what if they do it? do you stop the game, rewind the footage, and then eventually deem that something illegal happened? is it a stock loss or a game loss? what if the opponent falsely accuses someone of using it, do they get punished? it's a nightmare for TOs.

What happened to banning after data? As far as I’m aware, Steve hasn’t ever won a major. Hell, in smash4 bayo stayed unbanned for LONGER with even more egregious OP jank. I think people are massively overreacting and banning a character that they don’t want to play against.

Also camps way harder than bayo did as a character which is part of his design with the blocks and mining. We should've banned bayo and much like steve had tons of nobody players who never sniffed a top 8 suddenly in tons of them and killed the game in the end of its life. We should ban steve. I would say ban the tech but it's so easy to buffer b that it would be impossible to enforce the rule as mains would always say it was a mistake as they proceed to up tilt combo you to oblivion.

I'd say the big problem is how easy it is to perform accidentally. Because it's easy to perform accidentally through normal gameplay, it would be impossible to determine whether its use was accidental or "accidental" during a match.

Nintendo is not known to patch games especially after they are done with development. This is historically true, I mean just go update all your first party games and see if any updates come up. It's been 6 years since the Switch has been out and I constantly update every app.

I think the argument for the ban is that this tech isn’t intentional whereas Yoshi’s double jump armor is. Personally , I don’t have a stance on the issue as of yet.

Not the same at all, this bullshit lets U turn a true combo from the opponent into one of yours and kill them because he has broken combos, Yoshi lets U escape before getting hit, not after. And doesn't lead into anything unless the opponent did something really laggy. This means every time you hit Steve is a 50/50 because this technique is practically unnoticeable and unreactable, you have to guess if he is gonna do it or not and if he does and you don't hit him to not get reversed, he just puts a block, not very punishable.

How much broken tech does Steve need for his average players to admit he's broken DLC?

Yoshi's double jump armor is an input that locks him in there for a certain duration of time that is fully intended as apart of his balance. This is acting when it's NOT YOUR TURN to be able to attack, because it's directly out of hitstun. You are supposed to be hit. You are not supposed to be about to attack. You are attacking someone when you're not supposed to be. It's simple as that. Those aren't the same things at ALL. It isn't super armor, it isn't tough guy, it isn't foresight, it's Steve attacking IN THE MIDDLE of being attacked. That breaks the core of EVERY fighting game. You are PUNISHED for correctly landing your attack on your opponent.

​@@mikey0185 It's the ultimate option select. Its one weakness is that it only works on non-tumble hitstun, but even then, it still invalidates all multihits. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we separated Ultimate into normal tournaments and Steve/technical character-only events.
